I think you mean Hugo and T. Hawk. Though, that said, I’ve been working my way through Shotofest 2014 over the last few days. Very little is more irritating (to me anyway) than having some idiot throw an ill advised fireball, react with U2 to blow them the fuck up and then having the internet going “Bzzzzzzzt wrong”. Whoever was in charge of the USFIV netcode should be fired. As in out of a cannon.
haven’t played against too many hawks actually, but they’ve all made sure my asshole was sorely ravaged. was playing against a yun who did a random ultra so i responded by doing u2, but i accidentally did the aa version. fortunately “waiting for player” popped up during the ultra freeze and the game disconnected. god bless you capcom netcode for saving z-level players like myself from embarrassment.
watching nlbc and i really like damdais style. a few too many hp breaks for my liking, but aside from that, an almost perfect blend of fundamentals and bs, and hands all over the place
No fireball invincibility on run slide (scramble slide?) Is really annoying me lately. Yes there is invincibility on the scramble but once the slide is active you get smacked from behind, you get punished for making the right read but for being too close to activate slide on time before you get the massive auto stop penalty.
I know there is mp uppercut but beyond that spacing its lame.
Starting to think decapre is too flawed to stand a real chance. I mean I rank her under Guy, Cody, Gen even Elf. She just doesn’t seem to have enough. Grapplers and heavy defense also seem to blow her up, shotos also seem to have the upper hand, that’s a lot of the cast to be on the back foot against.
lk scramble -> mp, then some poke seems more reliable, I dunno. It’s generally not a good answer, you’re right.
I take back the elf bit ha ha, although he’s a little scarier in ultra. There will no doubt be a final update at some point where I can see decapre getting some nice changes so the effort hopefully will be worth it.
HP break or dive kick needs armour breaking properties imo, its easily telegraphed and would stop her being focus bait. That might be just me though.
Yeah, the slide thing is pretty dumb. Heck, all her options out of scramble get stuffed easily unless you. I guess we gotta wait until we pass through moves completely before doing a follow up. The lack of solid anti-air is what annoys me most, though. I’m probably just gonna go back to Seth since I’m not feeling any of the other characters

u have hands sting and ex hp break for people focus baiting. if u are getting hit with focus bait constantly its a player issue not a decapre issue oh and ex razor slide does as well
I get hit out of slide vs. fireballs maybe 10% of the time at max and most of the times I know I messed up by timing things incorrectly or i did lp scramble back instead of sliding cause I slid too late and realize the slide will be blocked. Thats just my bad for being not so good.
I don’t know what else you want as an anti projectile option though. slide, u2, ex spiral arrow on reaction, mp dp under fireballs to gain more meter than the other character, random jump back seeing if they throw a fireball and spiral, ex scramble react to what they do and do an option that beats a fireball if they throw one(this is incredibly strong if you get a read on someone’s fireball pattern). I mean who can zone her reliably? Guile? And even thats difficult for him because you can get in once with an ex strike or mk scramble j.hk and then he’s just donezo.
Hk scramble into ex arrow is so good for fireballs. She’s pretty good against fireballs u just have to time yourself carefully. Sagat still gives me problems but I can never fight sagat properly

I think she’s a good character, however I ‘feel’ there’s something she’s lacking, don’t know for sure yet. Dunno if anyone feels the same but when I’m playing, I’m having fun, enjoying the character…but then I get that feeling that something’s missing.
I completely dislike how her moves are preformed, being charge it’s fine by me, I play with charge chars since Vanilla, but…it’s a real scramble how you do her moves. Feels clunky and not right for the type of character she is.

Until now i dont have any problem with her, im learning and adapting, the rest is nonsense
I feel she’s really good and among the most fun characters in the cast.
As of now, I don’t think she needs any tweaking. A slightly reduced hurtbox on the upper portion of cr.hp and one more active frame would be nice, as would a slightly faster cl.hp (don’t really understand why they chose to make it 9 frames~~) but those changes would feel more like luxuries rather than necessities.
If better oki is developed from backthrow and/or airthrow, she’d be top 10 for sure, maybe even top 5.
I’m semi expecting a patch to coincide with disc/pc release though but who knows.
she is definitely good imo.
the thing that annoys me the most is that her overhead still gets hit by things that look like they shouldn’t hit
i.e. she is grounded the whole move despite her kind of flipping in the air off the ground, she still gets tagged by stuff like crLK by a lot of the cast.
damdai had an interesting thing going on, using crHP as one of his main pokes because it’s one of her longer crouching pokes (thinking longer than crMK) and doesn’t have as much recovery as overhead and sweep. so he can charge sting. interesting.
frame data says crHP is 6/3/18
far MP is 7/4/14, so they are about 2 frames off in terms of whiff punishability. and the faster startup time is definitely nice in crHP favor.

can anyone do a quick test to see if crHP or far MP has more range? i’m thinking crHP has more range than crMK also but i could be wrong.

Yeah, I’ve also been using cr.hp to hide charging for moves like Stinger and Spiral Arrow. I’m not too fond of the lag on it, so I might test out if empty st.lp> far st.mp (st.lp recovers quickly into st.mp on whiff) gives you enough time to charge inputs. And of course, you can buffer hands from far st.mp as well, so that’s an extra benefit.
St.mp and cr.mk seem to have more range horizontally.
