Yeah I really hope they don’t nerf ff chain… it’s bad enough that ff chain and tc can only hit standing opponents… It’s frustrating when you fight someone, land a c.lp and see they are ducking so all you can do is like c.mp ~ tatsu…
I think they should at least have tc work on crouched opponents so we have somewhere to go… Although I’m not really complaining. I suck at guy, but part of why I like him is that he is not as strong as some other members of the cast. Lower tier characters are fun to play b/c they can’t answer everything on reaction.
I think a fadc out of ff chain to izuna drop would satisfy my desire for a finisher to ff chain, which currently only gets a finisher at the cost of a bar for paltry damage, or in the corner.

Guy : As thing goes, he looks way more viable. Hitbox tweak on mp hp combo, more hit stun on elbow. U2 is decent now, less recovery on whiff, distance fixed.
His flip grab has been toned down, 120 damage instead of 200.
More hit stun on elbow is very good news! I got shut down by a t.hawk b/c he’d throw me after every elbow drop… Very annoying to hit someone, and get thrown for it…
I wonder by how much the hit stun is increased? Can we now combo off of the bushin flip elbow drop? Is it a more sure thing combo starter doing the standard drop?

Overall they buffed Guy pretty much. I can live without 200 each grab if they fix everything else. :lol: Maybe they adjusted frame data for him. If they make him a solid character, not overpowered, I will be happy.

The changes so far won’t make him top tier.However it depends on whether or not the characters he has a hard time against are changed and vice versa with characters he goes even with or has a favourable matchup with.

Hp Hozanto is faster than before. I saw a Guy player catch Chun’s mp Kikoken with it from decent distance.
I was wrong about elbow having more hitstun, it’s still the same.
Lp hozanto is safe from spd and light hawk spd.
U2 : less recovery on whiff and the distance has been fixed. ( Almost like rose’s normal grab ) Ultra of choice without any hesitation.
Flip grab has been toned DOWN. Damage is 120.
LP flip grab is the same, but the window-grab on MP and HP flip grab make them more useless than before.
No faster walk speed, no invicility on Ex hozanto, no faster recovery etc

I don’t mind losing damage on the flip grab if the move is staying as-is. I rarely use it anyway, other than as a bizarre anti-air and trying to bait out my opponent’s moves. For me, the flip grab could do zero damage and it would not impact my play very much. The only way this change does much to me is if the flip stops being near-pointless in any case.
It’s very encouraging to see they’re fixing bugs like his Target Combo hitboxes and giving him some real range on his Ultra 2. This makes it clear they’re willing to try to make Guy better, and I’m even more glad they’re resolving issues like his HP Hozanto being a pretty silly move overall. Gives me high hopes, and has definitely renewed my interest in SSF4 (I’ve been off playing BlazBlue in the meantime, but this could bring me back pretty easily).
I’m very hopeful for the future.

Yeah MP and HP version won’t grab standing those are solely AA now… >> I hope that changes cause the move is slow anyways and the only time I used HP was to punish fireballs…

Personally I’m a little disapointed, I was hoping for an alt closer to one of the concept ones.
All flips have their uses the problem is most people think too linear when it comes to the Bushin Flip. There are alot of uses Bushin Flip has other then grab or elbow. It’s understandable why they would nerf Bushin Flip’s damage and grab window when they buffed the hell out of Ultra 2. I’m telling you I’m going to reck people with Guy if these changes stick. More then I am now.
Well if they said it had Alpha speed then I can understand the damage nerf. But the grab window is what bothers me because now I have no reason to use HP Bushin besides closing the distance and punishing a jump, which I can just jump to get in or EX Run and use a anti normal for LP Bushin Reset or TK Izuna. I don’t even use U2.
hp mp bushin flip being anti air kinda sucks considering he has an air throw already…
I use hp bushin flip pretty much exclusively for punishing full screen projectile spam. I really won’t miss it, since I can ex run to get in on that too.
The f.mp is prolly the change I’m looking forward to most… that is the 1 thing that seems to be missing from my Guy, is some overhead pressure. 2 hits, and HOPEFULLY the ability to combo off it…
