It happens when they put you in block. thats why you have to input the down back and why it only works if they do something. you know how if you are walkin back and someone starts to FA and your character stops walkin back. this is takin advantage of that mechanic. i dont see the use of it. its really weird to get consistently. some characters have really strong ones like balrog who can apparently OS through DPs and stuff it lol. can see why they should put sometime into it. but i dont know if it would work the same way for guy.

Yeb actually went into detail staying its a state change OS, several things will cause that glitch come out.

I see now. So the OS doesn’t cancel recovery frames or anything of the sort, it’s a glitch that’s only trigger when you are put into a blocking animation. In that context, to trigger this OS, the opponent has to be close enough to trigger a block and be in active frames after your done recovering from your deliberate whiff. At the same time, if they are too close, they will just… hit you. Can you bait the whiff say with run->slide FADC backwards? And you buffer the inputs during the backdash and wait for the whiff to put you in block animation?

Away from baiting it, you need to have an opponent you will naturally whiff normal within blocking range. Players around my level do tend to hack the legs before they’ve even space the normal properly, so I might use it to try and rank up in online play before Ultra, lol, but that’s not something I see at high level play.

…Then again, there is never enough anti-scrub technology. I’ll keep this in mind when I’m abusing uncrouchable Bushin Flips.

For those who don’t know the changes so far.

Guy

  • Guy’s walk speed is faster.

  • Crouching medium punch hitbox has been reduced, and can no longer be used as an anti-air.

  • EX Hurricane Kick has a larger hit box, but start up increased from 4f to 6f.

  • Increased range on second hit of his Ultra 1.

  • Elbow Drop can no longer be ducked under with certain moves.

  • Kamaitachi (Down-Forward Heavy Kick) startup reduced to 9 frames, from 11 frames.

  • Neck Flip (Heavy Kick followup on Run) startup increased to 5 frames from 3, hitbox increased.

  • Elbow Drop downward hitbox increased.

  • Second hit of his Target Combo has had its downward hitbox increased.

  • Sudden Stop has 1 frame less recovery.

  • Heavy Hozanto has 2 frames quicker startup.

Like blooddrunk said it can be activated with alot of things. Jumps, I saw balrog catch a back dash with his. I just used that to explain it easier. Hope it helped.

had too miss TGU 2013 due to obligatory uni work, I was supposed to play in pool G :confused: well it’s not like i was going to make it anyway with dunhill and kichiyojiken in my pool lol but still pretty pissed since i really wanted to go

Ninja sickle,run and TC buffs are cool. Cr.MP nerf will take some time to get used to since I pretty much autopilot AA with it most of time lol.

i just started learning guy but its good to see he`ll get some buffs for ultra :slight_smile: love his ninja sickle move but its so punishable hopefully these changes will help :slight_smile:

I may be late in posting this, but while trying to find ways to juggle meterless U1 on Dudley, I found that cl MK -> cr MP -> TC xx LP hoz, works and can lead into Ultra 1 (if you replace cl MK with cl HK, then LP hozan will miss, so end with Run Slide or EX hozan). Also works on Abel.

Another setup is, cl MP -> LP -> TC xx LP hozan -> Ultra 1

and a damage scaled to hell one: cr LP -> cr LK -> cr LP -> TC xx LP hozan -> Ultra 1

I use Ninja Sickle to annoy Blankas and Bisons on wake up. I think the buffs might make it more useful for frames traps, and sickle (on hit) works well to push opponents into the corner as well as setting up specials/supers/ultra 1’s with little scaling. Blood, Af0, Nebbz or Pedro will be able to go into more depth then that though.

I personally wouldn’t rely on it as an antiair or a poke. I do believe the frames and hitboxes make it too situational.

I was playing the car smashing bonus level and found that the Bushin flip elbow drop can cross up.

Hidden possibilities?!

Isn’t the whole freaking car a hitbox…besides the elbow does cross up on balrog if I recall, but it’s very situational and probably hard to set up.

Crosses up on a few people, some are situational (crouching) others are spacing and timing dependent :stuck_out_tongue:

So, anyone else been messing with proximity OS’s with Guy?

Seeing as Sakuras LK tatsu is becoming -1f on guard, could Muso Renge grab her?

Depends on the spacing but not likely, Plus the closest a Sak will be with that move is on our wakeup and she will make that positive since it has 5-6 active frames.
