Saw it this past Friday. Pretty good flick, wasn’t awesome by any means, but was lots of fun. It stays very truthful to the comic, most of the changes are towards the end and are pretty obvious. I’m glad to see that Nic Cage didn’t ruin the film, but it seems pretty obvious to me that the Batman-like suit and his Adam West impression were his contributions to the character and not that of the writer/creator.

i woulda died if i saw hit girl do a line of coke in the theaters. that woulda made my year. also want to see the comic version of kick ass vs red mist. shoulda made that fight way better in the movie.

Stuff They Took Out:
-Like that they got rid of Big Daddy being a wannabe douche like Kick-Ass. Didn’t really make sense in the comic, so having him actually be a cop was way better.
-Don’t like how they downplayed Kick-Ass’s dad. He was a bigger character in the comic and, ultimately, he was the guy who basically “won” in the comic.
-The surprise of “oh shit, Red Mist is the mob don’s son” had me kind of mixed. In the comic, my first reaction was “oh man, that’s such bullshit” but it made sense by the end, and it was a bit of a surprise when it happened. But then again, knowing that it’s coming added some suspense to the falling action portion of the movie.

I don’t like that Kick-Ass got the girl. Him telling her that he’s not really gay and then paying out the ass for it (ass opposed to paying up the ass) was both a lot more realistic and humorous.

The increased role of his friends was ok. I know it came at the cost of a decreased role for the dad, though.

The entire webcast of Kick-Ass getting killed was a weak idea. Leave that shit to Al-Qaeda.

The first half of the movie was pretty good. Second half was weak. The action scenes in this movie are overrated.

I heard about this movie last year, it looked interesting so I decided to track down the comics and give them a read. I enjoyed them a lot and I became even more excited for the movie. I saw it Friday and I had one hell of a great time! Sure, I was thrown off by the changes made to the story (more than I expected), but most of them added to the movie, IMO. Overall, it was an incredible experience that will definitely be going into my DVD collection in the future!

2 outta 5 at best, shit stank. almost as bad as watchmen, almost.
He’s not 100% fleshed out, but he’s a lot more actively supportive character, and they have a handful of father-son moments. And if you want to read a spoiler about how Kick-Ass’s dad “wins” the comic, see below:

In the comic, the drug dealer at the beginning where Kick-Ass first meets Hit Girl and Big Daddy had nothing to do with Katie… He got the message off his MySpace page from some random chick, not from Katie. At the end, his dad ends up hooking up with the “random chick” and Kick-Ass walks in on them fucking and is like “oh…bbl”.

This was definitely one of the most fun movies I’ve seen in a long time. I very much enjoyed it!

i think this is one of those movies especially for american audiences, all the people i know would hate this. like 99,9% of the people here think watchmen is for gays, in the US its regarded as the next godfather in terms of being a movie. for some reason you guys got a thing for men in tight latex suites doing retarded ass shit that doesnt make no fucking sense. the kids here like spiderman & ironman too, but i dont know too many adults into this shit.
