Ken Q&A: Ask simple questions here?

*How are you supposed to hold the stick when doing the cr.lp, cr.lp, Shoryuken combo. I try holding it at down forward and going from down to down forward for the shoruyken but it doesnt always comes out. Instead i get hadokens. Also how do you auto correct DP? *

yeah, so keep holding it in :df: and then straight after you pressed the LP. go :r: :qcf: double tap your punch too (it’s not scrubby, even Pro’s double tap) if that doesn’t work, add a :uf: to it too. A auto correct DP motion is :r::df::d::db: press punch.

Every now and then I’ll come across someone who mashes cr lk’s on their wake-up. Is there an easy way to counter to this if I know it’s coming? I can cross-up to avoid it but I like to bait as much as possible.

How do you do Kara Throw with Ken? and also are there any set ups for ultra 2?

Hi fellas, sorry if this has been asked, but I was wondering if Ken’s weird whiffing target combo has been fixed in Super. In Vanilla, that target would whiff on crouching opponents, which made it less reliable. I haven’t tested it on Super yet…

How are you supposed to fight any Zangief?

Seems like a blocked step kick is a gaurenteed SPD for Gief and Ken’s slow ass fierball is just asking to get EX Green Hand…

I was looking at Ken’s super frame data on wiki (dunno if its correct)

If i do cr.lk > cr.lp x 2, can I wait for the cr.lp to recover and then do hp srk, since the data has cr.lp at +5? Or do I need to link the cr.lp’s and then cancel off the second one.

Would kara throw be easier with throws set to mp+mk?

Are there any tricks for linking 4 cr.lp’s together? I’m trying to do his Trial 17 and I got them linked once but I can’t seem to do it very consistently.

I personally love cr.mk xx Hadouken > FADC > U2

Does the strength of hadoken used effect the ease of which you can FADC into ultra 2

People have seemed to ignore this thread as of late, and I was almost victim of that as well. My question is this.

I’ve seen Ryu and Akuma players use c.mk to avoid tiger knees. Is this on accident or is it on reaction?

u can do it on reaction but its realy on anticipaition if u press grab with the c.mk u can tech throws and avoid tiger knees as well

i have one question where can i find some good ken player? i usely fight kens online but all they do is srk, srk and srk lol. i would like to fight a ken that is better than my ken and learn some thing from him or her. my psn is riu48 feel free to sent me a friend req if you are that player.

Thats correct, if you hit confirm into SRK FADC ultra, you wont get full ultra. I nakedly through out a good amount of SRKs when i have two bars anyways, and if i see a counter hit I do ultra, other wise I just follow up with a mp.srk.

You don’t just have to have counterhit… if the first hit of his HP SRK hits an airborne opponent it causes float (Free juggle state) the second hit maintains this & then if you FADC you get full ultra (Or gimmicky reset oppertunity)

An example would be, you can Focus attack, wait for stage 2 crumple, then HP SRK -> FADC > Ultra for the full whack.


I have a quick question, i main(ed) Akuma in SF so i’m not 100% but have they sped up recovery on kens LP SRK? I say this because in SSFIV you can do LP SRK -> MP/HP/EX SRK in the corner on a grounded opponent, hell you can even hit confirm in to it. That & i practiced for a long time learning to punish that based on distance (Start with HK if it pushed back far enough, or standard B&B if close)

If they have then… Why? did they do it so the people who can’t handle it could complain more or to make Ken a more viable beginner character or something
