Ken Q&A: Ask simple questions here?

Thanks, you gave me something to test todaaay.

Nope I get 9 hits to from a Fierce > Fadc > ultra. You can add another medium srk after the FADC though and then go for the ultra. Or even hadoken when he lands (Dash?) ultra. But that’s prob not what you meant

And yea it seems the strongest way to ultra. I got 682 damage of of it. I would say add 2 more hits of the fierce before supering, but it seems to damage scale reduce the damage so yea. [would be a better hit confirm I guess]

Although most kens dont even get to 4 bars since everyone is using so many meter. If you know the HK is gonna hit, you could go for full ultra as well

yes 10 hits on the juggle shinryuken is poosible. you have to ultra a little later than you usually would tho…

Do you guys ever get the overhead when doing: walk back and forth cr.mk? I was doing that to a Balrog online yesterday and the b.mk keeps coming out, even know I KNOW for sure that I was holding down. It never happens to me offline, but online it does a few times.

Does anyone know if jab SRK trades with dive kicks? Does it just depend on the character using their dive kick or something, or is the timing just tricky? I can jab SRK Gouken’s dive kicks (the demon flip ones) but not Rufus’ in-air df. Med kick, for example. I think it trades with Chun’s overheads too but I haven’t tested it in a while.

Just curious.

Its best to either block the dive kick and throw if it was a deep one or jump back fierce.

Not sure about the hits, but the most damage I’ve gotten out of a straight fp.srk->ultra has been 326dmg in training mode with full ultra bar, no jumping fp or anything before, just srk straight to ultra. If you wait a little too long though you can end up with sub 300 damage, usually around 275dmg and sometimes as low as 260.

–EDIT–
I just checked training mode and it’s 11 hits for 326dmg. 10 hits gives around 300dmg.

Sometimes I can even beat Akuma’s/Gouken’s/Rufus’s dive kicks with cr.hp but sometimes even a shoryuken trades. I don’t really understand it but I just use MP shoryuken at least the trade will knock them down.

Ok, so it’s not just me then. That makes me feel better. I thought I was getting my timing really wrong and that’s why it would trade as opposed to just plain hit.

But yeah, a trade in which you get a knockdown is still pretty tight.

So a friend of a friend wants to make some quick bucks and has a TE stick he wants to sell, right now i play with my ps3 and my ken is very average! Im in need of improving my ken and have money aside to buy a TE stick, but was just waiting for my exams to finish before i buy one. But because he needs an answer quick, would you suggest i buy a 2nd hand one or brand new one? Price difference is quit a bit, 40 difference. I was just wondering if its used and abused, being that its such good quality, it should still be ok right? Just concerned really, i have already been reassured that it works fine! what do you think as i know most of you all have given many hours/days/months use of abuse to your TE sticks, do they still hold up as they did brand new?

It’s called lag lol. Offline, inputs for commands are pretty much instant, which explains why you never get the overhead walking back and forth. Online though, there’s a slight delay, especially if your connection isn’t that great to begin with. Basically, if you’re walking back and forth, and you try to do a poke, like f.mk or cr. mk, the game might still read you’re previous “back” input and execute it together with the kick, hence the overhead. It happens to me a lot, too, so you’re not the only one.

Wow, I completely forgot to post what I meant to here. I think you might be able to beat these moves with a really late MP shoryuken but it’s really tricky because it becomes easier for your opponent to bait it with empty jumps. The shoryuken invincibility isn’t really that long so you have to catch them early on in the active frames of the shoryu.

Having a stick won’t make you a better player unless you’re used to them. See if you can try it I don’t think there’s anyway for him to abuse the TE enough to break it unless he took it apart and messed stuff up.

Also make sure there are no stores that have any sales on them right now because you might be able to get a new one for cheap.

Quick random question. Watching the Sanford vs IFC Yipes () why is it that IFC Yipes throws out random jabs/strongs at 3/4+ screen usually between throwing fbs? I’ve seen other ‘pro’ kens do this as well.

Does it takes frames to crouch?

Does it take more frames to jump from crouching than from standing?

its for bait to the the enemy to jump cuz they thought u were going to throw a fireball, if they do it anti air if they dnt u can get punishd, jus a rythym thing u dnt wanaa telegraoh ur fireballs

Oh I thought it was to stuff certain moves lol. Like a blanka ball can be stuffed with a Medium punch or something.

But ah I see, now I know.

And I also see them sometimes like kinda RESET there jab when someone is blocking. They do that a lot. I guess its for when they try to counter, or let go of block that they can combo again?

You can’t kara air tatsu, I’m not even sure if you can kara tatsu in general…

Kara Hadouken = :qcf: + :mk: ~ :p:

So you do the hadouken motion, then medium kick, then punch -immediately- after the kick.

You’ll shoot forward a bit and then hadouken. If you step kick or hadouken without moving you’re not doing it right.

lol I thought someone answered his post but I guess not.

Yes that’s how you do kara hadoken.

Kara focus is pretty easy, just walk forward and then focus but press mk a little before mp.
To see it here’s MagnetoManiac’s video:

Kara air tatsu I can’t get that well but I haven’t really been training on it so yeah. Here’s MagnetoManiac’s video on it:

up until about 2m30s, after that it’s Viper.

right, because if the person is expecting a fireball they will react when your character moves next, so jab or strong will make them /think/ your throwing a fb.

as for the delayed jab (i think that’s what your refering to when you say they reset their jab) it’s to CH them if they try and push any normals or OST, also since a lot of people abuse absolute guard and stop blocking to do other things in block strings it’s a way of keeping them at least a little honest.

Anybody? I don’t want to end up making a thread about this.

Nope, im not used to a stick at all, i suck at them, but after reading everyones joy of hours upon hours of practice from the transition from pad to stick, it makes me want to make the same move too. And i think i shall too, so my Ken win ratio will definatley go down a bit (@70% right now in G2).

Thanks for the advice tho, ill be keeping my eyes peeled, but finding even a new one in the stores in London is difficuly enough as it is, can only get them online, no chances of finding a used one or one on sale at a store

ohhh shit! lilsicx is spittin knowledge hahahaha best kens on the WEST COAST BABY
