Ken General Thread: Go with the Flow

Don’t use TC1 after v-trigger cancel, too much scaling. Either walk forward and press cr hp (you have enough time to do it) or do a st hk (tight link so time it well). Follow it up with lk tatsu to hp srk for good meterless damage.

I really hope this isn’t a close to final version of ken, or ryu for that matter he got some dumb shit too

The fact it’s whiffing is annoying me full stop, it just shows the ridiculously poor range of b.mp. I just started going immediately into DP just to be sure, it’s the easiest thing.

Yeah, range is pretty short, but this is how the TC1 has always been since SF3. Still, if you want to use it you have time to move forward after the v-trigger cancel so that you make sure it connects.

This only works for me in V-trigger. Is it character specific without?

Ken may not have his old combos but people still can’t handle him, I’m beating fools left and right online

Was just hoping into the game with ken trying stuff out and I really felt handcuffed.
Outside of target combos, are there any more links (not chains) besides cr.mp -> st.lk…?
I would’ve at least hoped for st.mp -> cr.mp or something but nothing…

And cr.mp -> b.mp~hp is stupidly punishable if you cant connect the cr.mp ultradeep, because b.mp will more often whiff than actually hit, feels like no horizontal range

st.lp -> b.mp
CH jab -> cr.mp
st.hk -> lk tatsu
st.hp -> cr.mp
st.hp xx Run -> lk tatsu
CH cr.mp -> cr.mp

And CCH combos of course, but I think that’s it.

I just played a mirror match and we had the same colour.

St. hp is +4 on hit, the only move that links due to startup and pushback is st lk and only if the st hp is performed up close. It’s mostly a pointless link as at that range you can go for cr mp -> TC1 which does more damage.

Was that a b4 change?

Is Ken’s kick target combo the only one in that game that allows the target combo to progress even if the previous hit didn’t land D:

No you are half right, it’s indeed +5 since b3 but the cr mp can’t reach due to pushback.

Maining this character is going to be a struggle. His overheads seem really really bad b.mk is slower than ever and f.hk is punishable on block with only 90 damage.

Bison is going to be a problem

I’m really digging his hurricane kick and all derivations thereof.

Karin and Vega are his worst IMO, Bison in lag however is a complete dick to deal with because of the dash.
