Yeah, PSX brings up a good point… I remember Tekken tournies and such at Fun Factories and Tilt, like the one in Southland(Hayward Mall :lol:) Mall that we actually had to pay the arcade… but players got really good prizes, like limited edition shit. There was a tourney where they got Tekken shirts, wall scrolls, and even the PS2 game when it released. The more people who entered, the more money you would get afterwards… like if 8 people entered, the $5 fee you never saw again, and top 3 would get prizes… 16/$5 would get top 5 prizes and some tokens, and anything more than that top 3 would get money too.
The arcade always made the money, even on the prizes they handed out, since they got those right from Namco or the company and it’s cheap but rare stuff.
Whenever we run tournies at HBB without Kent we just pay for our own games and have a lower entry fee to offset token costs.
Yea I like the idea of players taking the imitative and trying to do there own tourneys but I am dead set against cheap tourneys and $1 or $2 tourneys. They flood the market with tourneys and cheapen the feel of what a tourney is supposed to be.
I appreciate those trying to do there own tourneys but just plan right.
Tourneys can be beneficial to both the players and the establishment. I have run tournaments that have paid the players very well and brought the house $ in also. Its do able but it takes work from the players, establishment and tourney coordinator.

check in time will be at 8 pm sharp, not 8:30, and the tourney will BEGIN at 8:30 pm. we have to make it earlier to fall within the store hours. i don’t want shawny shawn to get in trouble.

I doubt anything at HBB. But there will be a CVS2 league starting at the zones around that time. Also weekly Saturday get togethers etc. Everyone is allowed to enter any zones league or tourney, so same applies to you.
