No, just no.
is goin to go make it rain?
The judicial system needs change.
Agreed. They should start by putting much less emphasis on eye witness testimony.
Everybody must have seen this video by now, but if you haven’t, watch it to test how unreliable your own memory is.
“Robbery” or a stealing money crime, finally in the article way down there.
The only reason he was convicted was because his name was Cash Register!
They interpreted the C or K as a gang thing maybe. Coco Crisp better watchout.
…That can’t be his real name. Sounds like a rapper’s alias.
my sympathies to the Register family
seriously…when he leaves…does he tell the officer…he’s kashing out?!
“Register was up for parole 11 times. All he had to say was he was guilty in this crime, but he always maintained his innocence. He said he would rather serve time than say he was guilty for a crime that he did not commit.”
Is this a typo?
“You’ll pay for this!” shouted Kash Register.
“Register was up for parole 11 times. All he had to say was he was guilty in this crime, but he always maintained his innocence. He said he would rather serve time than say he was guilty for a crime that he did not commit.”

I know a number of people that got put into a similar situation, they were innocent, but pressured into saying they were guilty to reduce their time.
Welcome to real life. You will get sent to jail for shit you didn’t do and you’re best choice is to plead guilty to shit you didn’t do or else your punishment will only be worse. Welcome to America.
Not only did I count the correct number of Basketballs, but I also noticed the Gorilla. “Hah look at them tryin to distract me from counting the basketballs, I see you Gorilla!”
Ain’t pullin shit one me!
Will he get some sort of credit for taking this unfair punishment for so long?
He’ll get an apology from the state and a 10% off coupon for Applebee’s.
According to California law, he is owed a “minimum of $100/day of wrongful incarceration” so about $1.25 million.
Fun fact, even if he had been proven innocent after falsely confessing, California law says it would have owed him $0 if he had falsely confessed.
36500 dollars a year? He could’ve made that money unincarcerated, smh dat justice system…
Eh, if you really want to get particular about it, it’s untaxed income during a period of your life when you paid none of your own expenses (paid nothing money-wise, anyway).
Also it’s a minimum, if there are extenuating circumstances then the cash amount increases, no idea if that applies here.
In Montana, all you get is a free education, and only if DNA evidence was used to exonerate you. In Wisconsin it caps at $25k, and you have to be there five years to make that happen.
The “best” state is Alabama, $50k/year, no top limit.
