Is it possible to buffer command dash after st.mp and react with shoulder on block and tenko on hit?
Having trouble recognizing if the st.mp hits and as a result am getting punished for brainless tenko’s on block
So Alioune was tweeting about cr mk OS JF tenko in footsies, wonder how viable or effective this is? Tenko felt terrible on block, anyone know if JF tenko is better on block? I’m guessing the goal is to make it only come out on hit (sticking out cr mk where they will walk into it)
Yeah, c.MK OS tenko kind of requires you to use the move in a way so that the tenko won’t come out unless they walk/dash into it or you tag a button.
I suspect that tactic be a mainstay in Karin’s arsenal. Provided it works, of course, I’m not completely sure about buffering specials in normals. Word is that buffering is a lot harder than in most other games.
It’s tough to do from lights but I didn’t find it particularly difficult from mediums. Only viable way, I think, to do it from a light is if you can input the motion before pressing the normal. qcf + lk, hp with Ryu for example. Karin has qcb and qcf moves with both kick and punch so I think she’s boned when it comes to empty buffering lights.
I’ve been thinking about post anti-air mix ups to continue pressure with the cast I’m most interested in playing but I wanted to share my Karin thoughts.
Say you A/A with St. Hp, can Karin do QCF+K, P into V-Skill or Upkicks?
The mix ups I have after St. Hp,
Dash under or Command Dash into throw
Dash under or Command Dash into F+Mk over head
J. Mk cross up
Small step N. J
Not sure how real any of these potential setups are though and I mainly focused on the crossup/under variety
Any thoughts?
Her normals all cause air resets, so no. If you want to combo out of an anti-air it’s got to be a special to start it. However you can use her command dash as a cancel off the normal to get in close or possibly cross under.
Thanks for that; I wonder how reliable doing St. Hp and holding V-skill and release when they land would be for catching them hitting buttons.
On hit it causes a nice push back, but I suppose going for a potential crush counter with St. Hk would be better.
I think with practice people will be able to confirm s.MP into tenko or shoulder. I was able to confirm between tenko and empty dash, so once I get used to the input I don’t see why I couldn’t replace empty dash with shoulder.
That said there is still a gap where you can be mashed out, which makes it not as much better than canceling into empty dash as it otherwise would be.
On the subject of whether tenko juggles as anti-air, I tested this in beta as well. It pushes the opponent farther away than a regular one, so you usually can’t get a juggle from it. If you land a close/high tenko, however, you can follow up with an EX tenko.
It’s easy to juggle from EX tenko but it does require more meter, worth the cost IMO.
