Yeah sucks she doesn’t have her counter or command throw. I’m ok with the counter loss, I love chars with counters though. However losing her command throw kind of hurts her moveset as a whole. O well.
Actually scratch that, it looks like the flying throw is a hooligan; whiffs on crouchers but does throw, as Rashid looks to leave hitstun. But it also comes out after a single rekka, which means you can probably go to enders early (as she could in A3)
This game roster is already A+, take my money damnit.
Well I mean you used her regular throw most of the time anyway, because it left you in a better position and regular throws were still very strong. SPD was more like a combo tool almost. Not that I would’ve complained if it was still there.
I just like counters in all games for fun factor. Focus breaking counters in SF4 was a crime.
Upkick followups are not a true blockstring. I suspect this means that light upkicks are negative but not DP punishable on block
KARIN
A little bummed she no longer has her command throw but excited to explore her other options especially her V trigger rekka mix-ups.
You can combo Rekka palm finisher to CA.
Guren Ken juggles to CA. All I need to know.
Oh, you can link out of her rainbow palm that’s part of her Rekkas into cr.lk. Which as we saw in the trailer, links to cr.mp and that cancels. Rekkas do not combo into rainbow palm followup.

That was the impression I got when seeing it done with no followup.
Any idea what the differences between the two followups from command dash are? One is the shoulder, one is an upward palm. Both launch and combo into themselves.
Basically every other special move is rekka-like.
Oh yeah, we haven’t really seen any of the Ex moves since the trailer either. It’s clear the spin into upkicks must be the EX version of that one. Kick super = EX ressen ha? Must be. It’s not EX command dash, and Guren Ken doesn’t have an EX symbol on the movelist.
As for the counter during rekkas, it seems like the backdash is supposed to replace it as your “bait the reversal” move.
I hope rainbow palm hits overhead.
Another one of those characters where I really like the play/fighting style but hate the behavior/visuals. Le sigh. ;_;
Hope I’ll never get hit with the Critical Art.

Kick super is definitely EX Rainbow Palm; it’s a super similar animation.
The upkicks also seem to have trouble comboing when only the second of the first two connects on either the MK or HK version.
So her hooligan is probably the mixup with her Rainbow Palm followup to Rekkas; one gets you standing, the other crouching, and the animation is close enough to be hard to react to. Not sure why she has it as a followup to her regular Rainbow Palm though; I would think you’d slide on hit and get punished on block, so unless the slide does no damage and you need that overhead reset it seems a bit silly.
Sick hypest character reveal Imo! Best looking stage too. But her counter though :s
I always liked Karin as a character but never really had an interest in playing her until now. Watching the stream, Capcom did good on her. I’m glad she made it in.
Also
Another Glorious day for missing Alpha/Zero Characters , love the new costumes , frilly sleeves seem so appropriate for her.
Whoops, I should have checked whether the stream saved archives before I made that plan to DL it and take screenshots. Could have been doing screen record. Maybe there are nico archives, but I believe that’s usually paid access.
Now that the stream is over I can (slowly) do more formatting/updates, anyhow.
Damn, I was so hyped by the reveal, but now I’m cautiously optimistic after seeing her move list. Part of the reason why I loved her in A3 was that her move portfolio was kof-like. Now it seems they butchered her moveset into the various SF5 sub-systems: Her command throw is now her regular throw, her counter is now her v-reversal, and her signature rekkas are gated behind her v-trigger. I don’t mind changing up a character, but it seems like they took out a lot of the appeal of playing her and replaced it with I’m not even sure what? Dash mixups?
Okay, so it looks like her rekka does function like her old one.
You do the first one which is two hits, easily hit confirmable. You can then either do Palm Strike, Rainbow Palm, Elbow Rush, Hooligan, Slide, or Sway. If you do Elbow Rush, you can then either do Hooligan, Crossup Elbow, or Slide. So for the 2nd you have a high/low/backdash mixup and for the 3rd you have a left/right mixup. The left/right is slow enough that a crouching normal looks like it’ll beat all options though. You can combo into CA off a Palm Strike. This makes me suspect that Palm either does a lot more damage than Elbow -> Slide or that it’s relatively safe (as if it wasn’t you’d use Sway as I don’t think you can delay to frametrap), because I doubt they’d only have it there for the Super followup. Or maybe you can also combo into EX Rainbow Palm so it’s the “spend meter for more damage” option. Sway costs a lot of V Gauge
Shoulder Tackle seems to function like Bison’s MK SK; leaves you slightly plus on hit and in range for a strike/throw mixup.
I’m really not sure if the kick after her upkicks that happens a lot is the player just doing her overhead or if it’s the canned followup, since it isn’t comboing
You cannot link out of her regular Rainbow Palm it seems, probably just the Rekka version
