Does that only work with Karin cornered though?
Don’t forget you can just sappo-dash under her dropkick and punish with crmp into damage.
How do you do the jab reset in the corner with after a Tenko?
I think the reset only works, if the opponent performs normal recovery. The 2nd jab will miss if opponent dont recover.
I had it on no recovery no wonder. I tested it, and it works on both normal and back recovery. But man the timing is tight.
The jab reset doesn’t care how the opponent wants to recover, when you hit them with the jab you FORCE them to recover. That’s why it’s a reset. It’s not that hard to perform, you hit them with anything into tenko, then you do either standing jab into crouching jab, or two crouching jabs, the point is that a CHAINED crouching jab (even if the first attack whiff) has an abnormaly high jugglepoint allowing it to hit the opponent after the tenko in the air. Now, jab hitting people in the air will never give you a combo, it will always force them to tech in the air with that backflip-thingy. It’s the same as if you aa’ed someone with a jab, same kind of recovery.
If you do it correctly the second jab will hit no matter what the opponent tries to do. They have no say.
I’m not really convinced the jab reset in the corner is all that great. It seems reactable and you are giving up the corner to do it. I suppose it’s probably worth it if it will end the round though
You can do it midscreen as well.
And about tenko>jab jab reset, there is no tech involved as Kattchips says. The second jab (which has to be a low jab and has to be after a whiffed st/cr.lp) hits them out of the air after tenko. I do think its pretty good. Its not an insane mixup that’s worth going for often, but it is somewhat ambiguous. Also you can do it with seppo or just a regular dash, which changes the heights that set up the cross-under. I only really use it if I have already stunned someone and the scaling is high, or sometimes when I’m about to get a stun and I want to reset for unscaled damage. Again its not a godlike reset, but it is useful in those situations where you can’t get much off of your stun directly. If you really don’t want to end up in the corner you can just stay in front and get meaty/throw mixup.
What does Karin do for meaty set ups?
safe jumps, late meaty cr.MP and st.LK setups, meaty V-Skill/Ressenha setups, and post hit orochi concepts (in japanese though)
OH MY GOD the ultimate setup video
lot of things are hard to pull off too
I think it all depends what you do after. You don’t have to lose the corner to do the jab reset. Most people I’ve seen do not react to a meaty overhead after the jab reset. I’m sure it all depends on rank, but I’ve gotten some great comebacks because of it.
I’m surprised by how little people react to fireballs with Karin. Is there any reason why people would rather jump/block than do a full screen ressenha on reaction? It has saved me many times. Maybe it’s just my bad habit from being new to Street Fighter…
At first full-screen Ressenha seems great on fireball reaction, and at times it is, but as I play better people they expect it more. Some Ryus will even reverse-bait you into doing it and then DP as you come in. Also I’ve had a lot of issues from full screen with both punches connecting. Sometimes the second Ressenha punch doesn’t connect and I’m left negative and open for a huge punish.
When I use it, I tend to do it towards the end of a close match as a sort of hail mary hoping they’re not expecting/forgot about it because they haven’t seen me use it once yet. Otherwise it’s just a good tool to use against fireball scrubs but not really consistently viable in higher level play.
hp resenha leaves you at only -5 and most people just continue blocking expecting slide.
that move is so rarely used i think most people dont actually know how to properly punish it.
Could we compile this thread to have all the good posts & techs in the first post? Would be nice.
That trick of not doing the slide will work maybe once a match, however most people super-bronze and higher are aware that after a blocked ressenha you can simply jab punish whether we do the slide or not. The mixup stops being a thing when jab out just works against it blocked regardless of what we follow it up with. It’s just not a safe thing to make a habit out of relying on.
if i am not mistaken, you can late-input the slide so it doesnt combo and it beats the jab. not sure though but i think that happened to me
Late slide doesn’t beat crouchjab after ressen. I think ressen is way too risky if they have a chance to block it. You’re either punishable, or you’ll be even more punishable, and for what reward?
super?
