ok, so my real option off of that two hit sequence would be to just back off with j.hk back into my s./cr.mk and s.mp space then? i can see she can get a s.mp off on a less attentive opponent, but i’m guessing i shouldn’t do that if safety is in question.
I am currently learning Karin and I just read all your posts.
This thread is really useful! Thank you guys for sharing your tips
Anyway, I have a question about Karin’s post orochi setup shown in the following video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px3_cxF9O2I
What am I supposed to do if they don’t try to jab when I am Orochi-ing? What would be the best followups?
Start doing pressure again? Throws?
I hope you guys can help me I’m a real beginner so have some mercy~~
If they block the orochi you don’t do anything. You’re at -2 so your buttons will lose if they press stuff. You’re essentially giving up your turn to do stuff when they block the orochi, so just chill.
If you find that they have a tendency to press buttons after your blocked orochi EVERY TIME you can call them out on it with ex ressen, but this is risky and should be reserved for when you’re confident they will press something.
I have problems getting a fast orochi. I play on pad, and maybe I just haven’t built up the execution skills yet, but I feel my orochi is just too slow to come out. I don’t know if I just need to practice more, or if maybe there’s a better technique to playing on a pad, or what.
More I play and more I understand why Mago goes ALWAYS with cr.mk xx jft/orochi after a cr.mp,I can’t count how many combos I drop because st.mp don’t reach the opponent.
I’m close to drop Karin, seems I can’t understand what her gameplan is. Not having a real meterless answer against jumpins it’s plain stupid ,especially since Karin is a low health character. I have to check more videos and stuff, combos aren’t a problem, but sometimes I don’t know what to do even if I have health adv…then my opponents often makes a comeback. It’s draining,I have too many things in mind. First time feeling helpless in SF since '91.
After last night struggling I think I’ve found how I can make Karin work like I want. After work I’ve spent a good amount of time testing st.hp AA. When I abuse with st.mk seems a good amount of people tend to leave from there, since they can counter our normal. Most of them feel forced to jump on Karin and that’s the perfect moment where st.hp becomes useful. I’ve used the same thing before with Makoto ( <3),forcing the opponent to try a jump in is the best way to get ready for the AA. After st.hp we can switch side with MK Sappo or trick them with the LK one and make them guess. I need to test if switching side can make invincible reversals autocorrect work. After the Sappo,st.lk and cr.mp are the best combos/frame traps starters. Even Orochi is pretty useful as a pressure tool, even if we can do nothing after a blocked one abusing that move is pretty good to lock down the opponent, from there we can keep challenge on ground with our superior normals or waiting for a jump in,again the best spot to counter the jump in is at st.mk distance.
hello all. Im currently working on Karin as my main. Im having a lot of issues with getting her instant tenko to come out. It seems that it either doesnt come out or i only get the dash in. Sometimes the tenko comes late and gives my opponent a chance to block. Looking for some help. PM me and I’ll be happy to share my ID or look up this same User name on battle network.
Thanks again.
P.S. if anyone can show me the reset combos too, that would be cool. Later.
the jft timing is different wheter you cancel it from s.MP/c.MK/c.LP/s.Hp (I think because of hitstun/recovery?)
you should train yourself with the various timing in training. for example you have to do it as fast as you can off a c.LP, while with s.HP you have to wait a bit before you input jft
Mentioned this other thread but if you’re on fightpad its much easier do LK~HP buttons for the followup orochi or tenko. Like with thumb and pinky. Could transfer to stick as well maybe.
(For the initial Tenko I use thumb to plink mk~mp)
