Karate Kid remake

No they did not.

The last Karate Kid was “The Karate Kid 3”.

:coffee:

lol…that offended by the next karate kid?

She has a strong love for Tite Kubo. She’s actually a pretty alright chick, I met her at Comic Arts Forum panel at SCAD and we keep in touch sometimes. I haven’t spoken to her since maybe this Summer but I did that illustration originally to get in the her book but due to some miscommunications from editors at Tokyopop it didn’t get in but she really liked it alot. She gave me some signed work in exchange.

I drew Niji from RE:Play because most of the fans of this manga (mostly being female) don’t acknowledge her existence in the story at all.

  • She’s female
    -She’s black ()

I don’t think female fans of RE:Play are racist, I just think they’re just so consumed by the male characters that they don’t see anything else–which is why you don’t see much fanart of the character, Niji.

welcome to anime fandom…most arent racist…but dont give a fuck that minorities get no love in anime/manga or world manga(or w/e term tokypop made up now)

What about Ken Watanabe for Mr. Miyagi, he’s got the “deep” Mitsurugi voice and all, so I don’t see how it can’t work. Although nobody can top Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, however Watanabe has a staller, and more stellar stature, along with a very dominant voice which “could” in turn give a stout looking sensei, not only that, he’s japanese, so I don’t feel it’ll be a terrible choice at all.

My only refute is that, asking him would be highly unlikely, but yeah. Lol, if this shows up, I will watch it…I swear, Hollywood is running out of shit and pulling out all of the 80’s movies from their asses, either that, or they know that the 80’s kids are now the grown ups with the $$$,

hollywood needs at least 1 known star for these films. jaden is a smith but obviously not strong enough to put asses in seats. nor is the name watanabe…obviously chan is a bigger name than both in america.

Ralph Macchio has stated he is interested in making the film “The Karate Man”.

I’m glad I checked this thread, like most I wasn’t too hot on the idea when I first heard about it but the trailer does make me have a little hope for the movie. Still not sure if it’s going to be good, but at least it doesn’t look like total ass.

“You cant teach a macchio new crane kicks”

this is also true.

id rather have a black dynamite sequel/game/action figure/theme music/afro.

I really hope they explain in the movie why they call it the Karate Kid when he is learning kung fu.

Here’s what Larusso thinks about it:

This. I was making fun of the entire premise before. Now, I’m at least interested in going to see it. I actually hope it’s good; the trailer certainly looks promising.

Regardless, it’s going to be insanely hard for me to disassociate it with the original, and grade it on its own merit, as that series was one of my favorites as a kid. Here’s hoping though. Chan actually looks good in this role, and not the bumbling buffoon he’s been typecast as for so long.

anyone ever thought that the kid may start out as a karateka?

But in all seriousness, Jaden’s a dead ringer for one of the Freeman kids.

Nice trailer, and the movie looks kinda fun.
It is odd indeed to call it the Karate kid when it mostly looks like he is learning Kung Fu/Kenpo(?)
EDIT: What’s the name of the song played half way through the trailer?

i posted this in another thread and someone said he looked dead on like riley.

kenpo is a form of karate.

When I look at the trailer, they should have just had him stick to karate. He and his mom could have moved to japan. The get’s his ass kicked by some Kyo Kusanagi looking fools and have no one other than Sonny Chiba save him and teach him karate.

Remember the Name by Fort Minor.

Hmm interesting trailer, it actually looks decent.
