I really hope I’m wrong about blocking with assists. Kekeke. If variable counters are really useful against Karas, then that takes a lot of his brokenness and makes it slightly more bearable.
Now one more thing…how the HELL is anyone supposed to tech Karas’s front grab? That thing starts almost instantly. No way a human could ever tech that on reaction x_x
For the most part when I tech something it’s by accident or because I knew the guy would try to throw. Most grabs in the game aren’t really meant for teching on reaction. You’re supposed to tech when you know the guy is trying to grab, if you depend on reaction then you must be some kind of robot or something…
But yeah. Karas’s frontal grab is mad fast. I think that even if the opponent was expecting it, they wouldn’t be able to tech it consistantly because they only have like…4 frames to do it.
grabs in Vs games are no fun i prefer the grab systems of SF4 and AH ^^ but well one good waay to prevent Karas from grabing u at the start is to jump if im nt wrong, or u could always compete in a grabbing contest with him ^^
Just asking, but is it possible to mash out of Karas’s rope grab?
I can’t seem to do it, but I was watching vids where Psychchronic’s PTX was breaking out of it a lot, but it wasn’t registering as tech hit. Was the Karas player just being slow?
I’m talking about the part before the throw.
Also, Ptx can punish rope spam with pushblock > chainsaw A version.

hrms dont think u can in this game. The grab system is the same as MvC2 but there is an exception for giants who instead of attacking just try to grab when u do 6C. However those grabs are very techable by mashing
You can option select his grab with 6ABC. That way if it misses you get a dash.
Found an unblockable setup with ryu today. End your combo in 46B 5B 5C assist 6[C]. If you do it right the fireball should hit them as they land on the ground, covering the incoming 6C. Only difficult part about this is making sure you don’t time it so the fireball pushes them out of range of 6C.
What I would like to do is summon a slow projectile assist in the middle of a rushdown (something like Morrigan or Ryu or even Dornjo) and then dash past the opponent to attempt to crossup, then immediately try to grab them from behind before the projectile hits. In theory it should make for a difficult thing to avoid, but I haven’t found any assists that make it work yet, or I probably haven’t got the timing correct.
Well the way I’m trying to set it up here is that even if you don’t get the grab, a projectile will be covering you, so the opponent gets hit anyway.
So it’s a crossup, then a grab with a projectile covering. Since Karas is on one side of the opponent and the fireball is on the other, the opponent will either be crossed up or not have enough time to deal with the grab. I find Morrigan’s is probably best due to how thick it is, and good stagger.
Sorry if it’s not making sense. If I ever get it to work, I’ll post a video or something.
