Kansas City Area Gaming version 3.?

So what are good days to play? I’m coming in like 10 days. I need to plan out my Christmas. Got a lot of shit to do.

So you’ll be here the 17th?

After that time my free days for Marvel are as such:

Thursday 21st, after 6pm
Friday 22nd after noon
Saturday 23rd after noon
Sunday 24th (assuming they’re open)
Monday 26th-Sunday 31st after noon

That is, pick some days, obviously I’m not going to be playing everyday all of those days.

By hotel do you mean theres gonna be a console marvel tourny!?!?!?

Since I got a 360 (yesterday) and have started playing Oblivion. I think I’m going to provide an “Oblivion Report” as I encounter various fucked up WTF situations. No, this will not be any sort of how to or walk through, more of a "Check out this dumb shit that happened to me in this game.

So the first fucked up thing that happened (and I’m rather ashamed to admit it, as it degrades my generic gaming skills) is that I was completely owned by three rats during the VERY first training stage of the game! Yes, that’s right I suck so bad I died during the first part to some stupid rats!

So, now that you’re done laughing at me and muttering “noob” to yourselves, that’s not the most fucked up thing that happened. Once I got by the damned training part and was wandering aimlessly around one of the towns, I entered some bitch’s house (which was locked, and I picked it). Naturally she was like “WTF, GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!” I walked up to her and started talking and she was like “Hi, how may I help you?” << My first WTF moment… Games with bipolar bitches!?! WTF! After I finished talking to her, I explored her house, didn’t touch shit, didn’t steal shit, didn’t break into her locked rooms, although she did follow me around and that was kinda freaky. Then suddenly she went all emo again and was like “I, thought I said to get the fuck out?!” So I talked to her again to see if she’d change demeanor, and she did again. But this time after talking to her she was only calm for about 10 seconds then she jumped into a fighting stance and started punching me. I decided not to fight back and just left. Then WTF moment number two happened. After I left her house I turned to look at the door to see if she was going to follow me. The door closed, and then the bitch pulls a Shadowcat and walked through the closed door about to fight again. Then some guards appear and throw me in jail for stealing (note I still have yet to steal anything, but they did this anyway.) The game must have some sort of black person sensor. lol.

My only gripes thus far: This game desperately needs binoculars and since you can touch and manipulate nearly everything, there should be some sort of confirmation of theft. I completely on accident stole something when I was trying to talk to someone because I didn’t have the cursor centered exactly right. Bam one false button click and I had to pay a fine for stealing. (No jail time because I apparently had the money to pay for it).

ah the fragtagging…haven’t actually done it yet…most the games i’ve played online use the smoke grenade and i haven’t tried it on single player…seems to be a pretty balanced game for the most part…just not many weapons to chose from

ls…you see the halo 3 commercial? pretty awesome stuff… i may just end up buying that…even though i don’t own a x-box or the first 2 games haha

trance…i think the day i can show up, possibly with dan and cory, would be the 23rd…afternoon to evening…

The Oblivion Report

Ok, so how badly do I completely suck? The first day it was rats, the next day, fish! Yes FUCKING FISH!!! And not multiple fish, mind you, just one. But the fucked up thing is earlier in the game I defeated TWO wolves fairly handily. And those wolves were NOT easy. For the fish, I’m blaming the water that was deteriorating my ability to not only breathe, but see, move, and aim.

The big WTF for today is that there is a race of characters that own stables around the “world” and they EAT horses. They apparently know this is a fucked up thing, because when you talk to them they skirt the issue and only allude to why they don’t sell many or any horses.

The cool thing is I was approached by someone in the assassins’ guild a mere hour before I met up with the guy from the thieves’ guild. I’m mad that I can’t be in both at the same time. Not due to any game limitation, but because of the rules of the guilds. The thieves don’t want you killing people and the assassins don’t want you stealing. Of course I do have the option to be a good stand-up citizen, but fuck that (at least for now).

So, is anyone going to PP today or tomorrow? And who is up for some GEAR? I will have to watch you play that game sometime Adrian.

I say maybe on the 21st and maybe one of those days between 26-31st.

Chaz get off of my nuts.

I will stop fucking up in Marvel. Maybe not anytime soon, but eventually…

I’ll be there tonight at 6, see ya guys there.

What? WTF are you talking about?

I had a feeling you’d take that statement seriously. I was just referring to the match where you spent the last thirty seconds trying to KO me with the Cable nutgrab (finally finished with countering my Sentinel super with AHVB)…

Basically, I’m not pissy at you, but I’m not that easy (although my Marvel play suggests otherwise)…

Got the nut grab tonight!!!

lol. You might as well got my head, because I wasn’t thinking properly the whole night. Makes me wish that someone was actually working the bar at Powerplay. Could have used a shot or two last night…

LS check PM

Moving to Overland Park for the semester. Just wondering where everyone gets their fill of CVS2 or T5.

Unfortunately, this is Marvel Country, and Gear to a lesser extent. Although every once in a while Martin from Manhattan (Kansas not NY) swoops through to play some CvS2.

T5 though… I know of no one who plays this, but surely someone somewhere does.

I think the Ameristar Casino (I-435 N and 210) has DR at their arcade. Don’t quote me on that though.

Oh yeah, I know y’all were waiting on it… here’s The Oblivion Report for the weekend (I played a sick amount of Oblivion this Sunday (don’t ask how long) so this’ll be a big one).

So, I’m finally getting acclimated to this game and going around completing various missions I run into. On the upside, I’ve not gotten owned by any ridiculous animals. I half expected to run across some rabid butterfly that’d own me. WTF.

I must say I am really REALLY liking how this game is setup. It’s 99% of exactly what I want in a game. And has potential to usurp Resident Evil as a ‘favorite’ game for me. And those of you in the know, know that this is one HELL of an accomplishment. The truly dynamic story (instead of situations that only have two outcomes, that ultimately end the same) is very nice. There are also decisions that need to be made that will drastically affect the rest of the game for you. And then there’s the element of trust, where most games you know or at least have a damned good idea who to trust and who not to and regardless of what you do the outcome will be the same anyway. Not this game… which brings me to my first “Wow, WTF!” mission:

Ok, so I was talking to people in one of the towns and rumor had it that some bitch was looking for some gold her husband (who’s in jail) had hid from her. So I went to her house and told her I’d help find it. I had to go visit the guy in jail to see if he’d talk, he didn’t (duh), so to get him to talk I had to get arrested so that I’d be thrown in jail with him. Once in jail with him he spilled his guts, but offered up a massively different story than she did, and he wanted me to go kill the bitch. So I figured, if I kill her I’d get to keep all the money (hell he said I could have it all anyway since he was not getting out of jail). I attempted to kill this bitch, that was a mistake. I snuck up on her, clubbed her with my mace (she didn’t die) and after ONE hit magically a guard appeared in her basement and hauled my ass away. After I got out again, I went and talked to her, she was pissed about being hit, but got over it because she wanted the money and offered me another deal. Long story short, I took the evidence of her death (even though she wasn’t dead) back to the jail to prove I killed her he told me where the money was, I went for the money and shockingly there was another jackass already there who I had to kill, saying he overheard our convo in the jail. Now, during this fight I learned something very interesting and VERY helpful, that being, that guards will help you in a fight if you were the one attacked and when they do they ALWAYS win. Since my character is fast I can run away long enough for the guards to kill my opponent. Before the guards and I killed this guy he told me he had went back to the wife’s house and killed her. So I was able to keep her “evidence of death” (which was a very expensive necklace), and all of the money.

Now, later in the game I hardcore CHEATED. Not cheated as in game-breaking gambit glitch cheated, but cheated like Juggernaut glitch cheated. One of those I highly doubt the creators intended this to go this way, but it worked to my advantage such that I probably would never have passed this one part. Ok, so I had to follow a guy into a tomb (he was a grave robber and I was stopping him), he knew I was following him because when I got there he told me it was a trap and he and another guy (who was basically god-tier) attacked me. Now, my character isn’t a warrior, isn’t good at fighting, I built him so that he could be a thief, quick, agile, and stealthy. So I don’t think my character could have ever defeated both of them. After dying like 4 times in this match and restarting from the last save, I decided to go about this differently. The first four times I walk in he talks they attack I die, each time I changed various attributes like the weapon I used, the armor I wore, the magic I cast. The fifth time, I said fuck this, I’m getting a jump on him, so before he spoke I shot him with a magical fireball. He decided to forgo the talking and started attacking immediately, the good thing here however his broken friend didn’t do shit, so I was fighting only him (he was weak so I killed him) then a fucking guard shows up and is like you started this fight, off to jail with you. I was like FUCK!!! So I started over again thinking this wouldn’t work out for me at all. Then I had a bright idea, how about go to jail on purpose to get past this. So after a couple of failed attempts (due mostly to the guard showing up too soon, ie. before I finished killing the guy) I went in killed the guy without fighting the 2nd guy, pillaged the key I needed off of his dead body to get back into the tomb, got arrested, got out went back to the tomb (where the other guy was still standing around looking dumb), talked to that guy (he was amazingly friendly and never attacked), got what I needed and finished that mission. So I basically roll-canceled fighting two guys to fight one, and the easier one at that.

Some other good shit in this game: There’s a clock, and you have to do shit at certain times of day, like businesses are open at certain times, you meet people at certain times etc. There’s also an instant travel that allows you to travel from one area to another, but intelligently, they made it so that if you travel from one place to another via this method the clock fast forwards based on how far away the two locations are. So if you have to meet somebody you need to make sure you travel early enough to make it in time. Before I realized this I was five hours late for a meeting and had to wait until the next day. Also regarding this, you can’t just instant travel out of a battle, so that’s cool, yet not if you can’t win the battle.

Lastly, I ran across a crazy conspiracy theorist in the game. He had me watching people that he thought was watching him. A guard approached me and told me he was crazy and to alert them if he said or did anything fucked up. I watched the first person he said to watch for which he paid me 150 gold, I was like sweet. So I watched everybody he wanted me to watch so I could keep getting the money. At any point during all of this I could have claimed that those people were actually watching him, I assume he’d have had me go kill them. I could also have had him arrested by telling the guard. But since I did neither of these he ended up getting to a point where he thought those people had paid me off and he wanted to kill me, I fucked him up – although a guard did help a little. This was the better turnout I think because I was able to take his house key off of his dead body and I found over 600 gold in his house, which is a shit-load considering all you ever find randomly is at most about 10 gold, and most missions only pay about 150-200 gold.

There’s a few of us (like 5 or 6 tops) who play T5, but usually only at someone’s house, we rarely go to Ameristar casino, they do have DR though but it’s like a 30 minute drive from OP and some of us don’t play as much as we used to (me).
