thats a dope chun man. Very nice pose. I would tweak a few things to make it perfect though:
she needs more of a rib section. Her belt is way too big right now, if you want to put her in perspective, make the belt section more rounded. Fabric on the breasts could use some folds too and the left breast ends at the neckline. Lastly the left upper leg is in a straight on position, but the bottom is facing the left.
Perspective is tough, so if you want to make it easier on yourself, get the Poser program and a basic model. You can pose her however you want, light it, and move the camera around however you want.
Whoa! Nice job on that latest piece. I seen the sketch version you had on DeviantART, and the Chun wasn’t that detailed as it is there. If anything, that’s probably the one I only glanced at. But now, you sir have taken it…
Looked back a few pages and the rest of your art never ceases to impress. Quite talented stuff you got there; especially those Ryu, Ken, Viper, Ike and Demitri/Donovan ones.
Kando my friend, your style looks like Kinu Nishimura and Akiman’s styles had an evil beast child! Great stuff. Keep it. :wgrin:
People saying you’re unoriginal are just haters. Your style is unique and refreshing, and a LOT more interesting than all those Joe Mad clones at Deviantart…
right^ and in some ways he surpasses kinu and akiman with his coloring. its like kinu and akiman’s line work but the painting style is like da vinci’s style.
and yes people saying its unoriginal are haters or arent looking hard enough. i think when everyone saw the gritty art in SFIII we loved it and tried to draw it. its a hard style to get close to. the haters are the ones who failed trying to draw that style when SFIII came out, or they just draw like the typical style of deviantart. im tired of seeing EGM cover art/ Udon style work all over deviantart. it happens sometimes. but with this style, it just looks so professional hard to accomplish and i never get bored of it.
Ahh man, you guys are way too kind. As for people who say i’m unoriginal, i don’t care. it’s not like i’m trying to do something new, it’s just something from my childhood i wanted to pursue. to me it’s like playing dress-up in art form. Like, you know how when you were little and pretend you’re a ninja or something, that’s the kinda feel i get from them. Not like, THIS IS MY WORK, type of feel. It’s sheerly fun, but i mean, i’ve painted like ME for like 4 years too w/ wet edge brushes and such, if people haven’t seen it oh well. Not too worried. But I thank you guys for eeeeeverything. SRK is seriously where it all started for me. LOL cuz you guys don’t hold back on nothin! thanks.
DF - I laughed my ass off at that guy the first time. Man, i gotta get crackin on that crit, this thing is due tomorrow, i don’t know if i’m gonna make it!
yeah don’t worry about people saying you copy Akiman/Kinu man. Who said that anyway? It’s just a style, you’re not straight swiping an image. I mean how many Jim Lee and Craig Mullins clones are out there? Yet the good ones will still get recognition. It’s not like Akiman/Kinu discovered some kind of secret that will make your pictures rock no matter what. You still have to be good at drawing and composing an image. If you take away the Akiman/Kinu aspect, you still have a good picture.
im a kinu/akiman stylist myself and i can say, its definitely not easy to get that look down. jim lee had a great style but tbh its easy to imitate compared to the sketches of kinu and akiman. kinu i think had a great approach to drawing the characters when she did SFIII. just for reference try kinu or akiman’s style its not easy to imitate even once. kandoken even tweaked it and did the da vinci style painting for coloring too. really… even if you’re not a hater go try to draw some of kinu’s stuff just for perspective. you think itd be easy because of the signature way she does the eyes and nose, but its harder than you think.
