Also: Emulinker servers are total garbage for gameplay. Want me to prove that too? I’m sure it wont be hard for most participants in this forum to prove how hard coded delay (emulinker) is far worse than fixed frames delay based on latency (Kaillera).

The advantage of kaillera is that it’s not controlled by 1 person, if someone supports it, you can play it- you’re not constrained by what one person thinks “is good for the industry”.
(That’s not a shot at Ponder specifically, GGPO is his baby, it’s good, and he can do what he wants, but if there’s a good alternative that isn’t as restricted, that’s even better)
Kaillera (THE Kaillera) IS controlled by one person, Etai. And he hasn’t done shit with it yet.
We’ll see, I’m not expecting anything more than another ‘delay’. The only thing that could make this a big deal was if it was a GGPO-like client with the same style of lag compensation. And even if it is, I have the feeling it might not work too well, since GGPO had a ton of bugs (still does, really) that require a lot of time and testing to work out.
And honestly does anyone still play on normal server-based Kaillera still? Why? At least stop using MAME and move to FBA and lose that extra 3 frames of input lag lmao.
Lag compensation rocks =) Ponder is making everything happen on ggpo at an amazing rate and things can only get better. I’d rather play only one game on ggpo (thou ggpo has a several increasing) instead of having a thousand choices on an emulinker server any day of the week.
Also need to make people send him e-mails to make him announce if Open Kaillera a.k.a. p2p kaillera can use kaillera’s netcode after all his trademark/copyright releases. Thats if they want lag compensation there. Or maybe not…its up to the people. I’m not touching kaillera’s netcode before he says something. Koz Its not like anyone is asking for any internal information…koz kaillera netcode has been cracked more than once and 100% of it is public knowledge. If he makes any changes, it’d take less than half an hour for anyone to figure out what he changed. I’ll start working on my own after I recode p2p to support nat punchthrough.
