Format: 2/3 Falls, Double Elimination. 3/5 Falls Winners and Losers Finals. 4/7 Grand Finals.
Server: Godweapon Server 1, Anti3D
All brackets will be co-ordinated through #garoutournament on Efnet.
NOTES
Mandatory IRC rule is still in effect. If you have come across players on Kaillera that play this game please send them a link to this thread and tell them to get IRC. I will not co-ordinate matches between IRC and Kaillera because people don’t want to take 30 seconds for a couple meg download.
Boss characters are allowed. Be ready to play against them.
The ranks from the previous nine tournaments will be used in this tournament. Any new players will be inserted at random in remaining slots. I’m not going to debate over this because you know that “I’m better than that guy.” If you’re an awesome player and you haven’t entered a tournament yet then you don’t get ranked. It’s just that simple.
NOTE
Word of mouth is key for the success of any tournament. For the regular tournament participants that see random players on Kaillera, POINT THEM TO THIS THREAD and tell them to get MIRC. The more new players we can get is the more regulars that will keep playing as time goes on. Everyone please try to do their part. If the regular 16 - 20 players each told one extra person we’d break 32 easily.
I’m not really a big fan of team tournaments, especially online. It’s hard enough to co-ordinate matches with 2 people, nevermind 4. Also, because ping isn’t universal, you can run into situations where 1 partner has great ping and the other doesn’t. If I had to DQ a team because 1 member couldn’t keep a stable match, it’d be chaos, not to mention unfair to his teammate.
I’ll be there again, see if I can win a match this time… or even win a round.
Anyway my offer still stands to encode the matches we’ve played into xvid .avi files. So if you’re interested you should add the rule of recording matches, or maybe only for like the semi finals and finals.
Argh! I’m going to be away that weekend! Oh well, guess I have to wait another month. That’s okay, it’ll give me some time to get used to the playing online. I’ve really gotten into the game since I imported the PS2 release. Definitely slightly different timing playing online though.
Looking at videos from the previous tournaments, having it based on console version I don’t think is a great idea…
I’m a reasonbly okay garou player, but am located in Australia, so if I were to come to this tournament (on the server you specificed) I believe id be over 180 ping >< [Which I can still play under with Hoku]. Which is a shame.
Id like to see how Id do with a larger garou base of players though… and I’m sure I know atleast 4+ other garou players who’d play if they could.
I’m sorry but if you can’t hold down 100ms or lower then it you won’t be allowed to enter this tournament. It’s not personal, it’s just a matter of being fair to the rest of the participants who aren’t lagging. It’s a shame that the server is limited by how close people are. The numbers would be a lot bigger on a regular basis if we had more people who didn’t live outside of North America that could keep a low ping.
Console version is an option because it allows for easy access to Grant & Kain. As stated in the initial post, boss characters are legal and you should be prepared to face them. Console also allowed for elimination of Flash, which has caused issues in the past.
You can pick up MIRC from THIS LINK. After that, just choose the Efnet Server (any one will work) and put in /join #garoutournament and you’ll enter the room.
omfg are you serious about stop playing. I thought you were kidding last time, but now that you say it again makes believe your really quiting. Well i guess tournaments are not going to be the same without you (im wondering if you just going to quit playing garou or your going to quit playing games at all?)
