Kaillera Fighting Circuit

I was just reading the “Kaillera Top 5” thread and it got me thinking. It’d be pretty fun to have a proper Kaillera Circuit encompassing the major games played. We could set up standard monthly tournaments for each game and track the winners with points and update as we go along. The games I thought to cover were:

X-Men vs Street Fighter
Marvel vs Capcom
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Garou Mark Of The Wolves
King Of Fighters 2002
Vampire Saviour

The tournament schedules would be strict monthly (ex MOTW on the 2nd Sunday of every month) and points tracked. We could also set up a thread where people that are above you in points can challenge for the rank in a 3/5 or 4/7 matchup and the results be posted.

I’d appreciate input on this matter from everyone.

I personally like the idea. We could make a website to track all the info in a much easier fashion. I can see monthly tourneys ins ome of those games becoming pretty tough, but overall I think it’s a cool idea.

I don’t think there’s enough people for a VS circuit.
It’s pretty much just me, Chibi, gb, Lucky and Kicks these days, and gb’s never on, and Chibi’s playing more A3.

Maybe we should change that. Dunno how, but more people really oughta play VS. It’s totally the bomb. (maybe i’ll start a thread like the garou one.)

About the ranking stuff… I’M TOTALLY DOWN!! I really like the idea of challenges. That’s some HC excitement right there!

Who’s gonna’ accept a challenge when they’ve worked hard to win tournaments and achieve their rank?

Anyone who’s not a baby. Or a variety of other such ‘terms.’

Oh great, its the Kaillera league all over again. My advice, dont try it, its not gonna work.

you can have a dodging system

the player is allowed 3 days to accept a public challenge for their rank, if they don’t compete for the rank they are taken off the ranking list and the victory goes to the other player.

That may be a little too strict, but I think the fun of a league or circuit is the fact that it is ever-changing. With a tourney, you have to use certain strategies to stay in, counter-pick, conserve energy, things like that. But once you win, it’s set in stone. You got the place you earned and nothing can change that.
With a circuit, you have to defend your position. Very dramatic, but in a different way than a tourney. Similar, but definitely different.

pretty much said it all. great idea. but thats all it ever really amounts to

I also agree that it won’t work. This will probably end up like xbl where somebody has a higher rank and will just drop in a game against a lower ranked player, unless it’s SRK only where we pretty much know each other.

It’s a lot easier to run a ranking system when you have a close bunch of guys who often talk and play with each other.

That way people are often held accountable for. With a big, broad range of people, you’ll hardly get the same cast of people more than a few times, your ranking will be skewed and it’ll lose all legitimasy.

Kaillera players, in general, are way too flaky to run a system based on consistancy and accountability.

Just get a head count on whose down for it and go from there. Key is start small then expand, then when word passes around people will most likely jump on the next season. my 2 cents.

I’m in for vampire savior, and garou I guess  awesome Idea. I had been playing with this thought for vampire savior myself. If you need people to run some of the tournaments I’m in for running the vampire savior tournament friday evening and throughout the weekends.

Don’t forget about me man! :stuck_out_tongue: although I suck. But the tournament I ran had an exceptionally big turnout, 8 people is enough, and I think we’re able to get 8 people together. So I wouldn’t worry about the VS circuit being to small, the more we do this shit the more popular it’ll get anyway.

Just a small silly Idea on ranking:
Personally I think the way Tekken5/Virtua Fighter 5 does it with the Kyu/Dan system is really cool, it fits fighting games you know. Maybe we should introduce something like that?

I’m down for xvs sfa3 and ssf2t w00t!!

You forgot about me.

ps. Do you play offline?

I’m in for kof2k2, but I doubt you will be able to get many people for that game on SRK.

Yeah, what’s with that? Not directly related, but…
I’ve posted tournies on other sites and people have said that they don’t play in SRK tournies!
WTH!! That’s wacky in my opinion.

But on that note… I know a few other communities who are becoming a LOT more interested in Kaillera especially with a3 and ST. Hopefully they’ll get all up ons as well

Go Go Garou Circuit!

SRK generally doesn’t attract that many SNK gamers. Most SNK gamers are foreigners, and you won’t find many here. That’s just how it is…

This Could Be Good
