Awesome, thanks dude
@20min mark is when they actually start talking to Wong and Tecks.
just a FYI.
what the fuck is your corny ass talking about in your second paragraph? anyways, eh, i dont think im wrong. i see shorty has had her moments, and i read some of the ego shit people were talking about, but at the end of the day, who the fuck cares really. who is she to care about really? i guess since she mentioned gootecks, thats what boosted her to relevant. but before she said much, dudes was already having a hissy fit over the shit. yes, im simplifying his position, and what. shits gay. let her do her, and worry bout yourself. you taking time out to message her for what? so she can cry, run away, not play, not try to be better? lol. let her do her, and if she dont succeed, then thats on her.
i aint worked up really. im just pointing out that dudes is just acting kinda gay about the whole thing. if she has confidence that she can do well in 6 months, than lets see. sf isnt exactly rocket science. if she can get her execution down good, with gootecks showing her the ropes, and her really spending that much time on the game every day, then she could probably scrub out 75 percent of the sf4 forum. ha! her pro experience might help with the nerves aspect of everything when it comes to the game, so its just studying, practicing, and studying from this point forward. get off her clit and hype up watson vs gootecks. if she wanna hype it up to get more vagina at tournies, cool. whatever, dont care.
my point is, she is really only responding to the hate, and dudes is butt hurt because they still suck and dont seem to be getting better, and she is saying she can do well in 6 months. we all have different potentials, so whose to say she wont do well for herself. she will humble herself, just be cool about it.
Justin disappeared like halfway through.
This was a great podcast. Everyone is super excited about SF4 which is fantastic. I have to laugh a little at the hosts’ “confusion” over the thus-far underground nature of the fighting game community.
The FGC is underground because frankly it has been over 15 years since the release of a main-stream fighting game that ignites the passion of non-hardcore fighting game fans. Even games that were super popular with the hardcore like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 were largely ignored outside the FGC. The subject of a live stream came up a lot. Guess what, Evo 2006 had a live stream. It got about 50 subscribers. Why? Almost everyone that cared about watching the games on the 2006 roster were already at Evo!
Through these lean years Evo has persevered by focusing on the hardcore tournament players. Over 11 years we’ve been able to grow the event from a 64 man tournament run in the back of an arcade to a true global tournament with over 2000 attendees. We’ve survived the birth and death of about a dozen flashier eSport leagues that operated with 100 times our capital investment. We’re not perfect but hey we’re still standing, which is more than you can say for a lot of organizations.
Thankfully Street Fighter 4 changes the equation. Our potential audience just jumped from 2000 to 2 million players. These are definitely exciting times, and it will be a fun ride from here.
^hey hey hey, tell em the part about how evo helped organize the gamestop tourney you dirty rats =P
I know you’re not worked up… that was my point, sigh. Reread your message, my message, then your response.
This issue is that she is requesting “special” treatment on some level due to her guitar hero success. While this notion may actually warrant some special treatment, as it shows dedication; human beings are generally programmed to deny the arrogance of people outside their own tribe (In this case SRK, or SF community), and especially new people to the tribe.
It reinforces their own sense of self-worth, in addition to possibly denying further competition within the social standing of the tribe. People most likely to this are people who highly value their own standing within the tribe.
There’s another sub-conscious instinct at hand too, she’s a girl. Naturally males are biased on some level to see her succeed, and some males are aware of this bias, and try and over-compensate for it with alienation.
Too true. We consulted with GameSpot on the ruleset and tournament format. We didn’t get everything we wanted, but I think the tournament was better because of our collaboration. Evo is happy to work with any organization that want to run a successful pro fighting game event.
Props on the Dream Theater intro!
i love this thread
so much hate for that dumb guitar hero bitch
Lol! Somebody else noticed.
Playing against people is very different than playing against yourself, or the CPU (extremely obvious assesment, of course).
I find it easier to believe that a top FPS player may become a top FG player, and the opposite seems true as well.
A Guitar Hero or a Tetris player will very likely have more difficulty when dealing with mindgames and tactics that are constantly changing for each opponent. That doesn’t mean they can’t do it, but it means that their potential is probably closer t the potential of random players than top players at first. They may have an edge on execution, although one might say that 15 years performing combos (average random SRKer, I guess) can make up for it.
I wish good luck to any new players, but becoming a top FG players is a very bg undertaking, and they’ll whoever disagrees will surprised when they try.
Great show! On more point towards making the FG scene mainstream, and 10 more points to Inkblot, Evo and the FG community. SRK and Evo had a lot to do with Street Fighter IV and the FG comeback, IMO.
Always interesting to hear Justins perspective on things… great show!
So Gootecks is trying to be the first man ever to get his doodle wet based on Street Fighter Prowess alone? Wow…I don;t know if he’s an ass or an innovator. Probably both.
gootecks is the barack obama of street fighter I think
wow… that is a shitty comparison.
Alright, so I challenged StarSlay3r to a match on Twitter (probably first to 10) we’ll see how it goes.
lol, be sure to film it.
Can’t, no camcorder. But I’ll be able to post a pic of the results and win ratio.
if you lose like one round she’s going to post about how she got like 10 matches on a top player
