Anybody tried any setups using divekick instead of jumping HP after launcher ?
I was thinking izzit possible for any setup using the divekick after the launcher since you’ll be able to land on the ground alot earlier den your opponents.

same setups are possible after lk dk (whiff) xx c.st.mk (jump cancel) hit them with the hk dk for a reset
I’m thinking of the divekick not whiffing the opponent and hitting the opponent.
I’ve tried using the HK divekick which goes behind the opponent and the LK & MK version lands in front of your opponent.
But I’m still figuring out what I can do after it.
And here you go ~

Hey thanks ! Time for some training room ! !
Man these are rad. That last one, the j.hp crossup, is absolutely amazing,if it really crosses up rose consistently you may have just changed that matchup for me :]
The jump HP crossup is amazing !
Do these still work in 2012? Specifically the last one because that was awesome xD
I honestly myself am still not at a level where i can test this stuff out consistently and tell whether or not these all still work, i can however find a few of my friends who are better at Yang than I am (Her0, FNEX Shine, and Acqua) to see - or i could find someone to ask Alioune and get back to you ASAP.
I’ve only managed to do this once and even then by accident in training mode. It should still be there but it’s really really hard to pull it off. In fact so hard I don’t think I’ve ever even seen it outside of this video.
I think I was just doing a basic launcher, hp reset so I’ll cross under twice and jumped forward and did mk. Then I ended up with a j. mk that hit the wrong way round.
hey guys, just starting to learn yang, are there any tips when learning him? habits to avoid?
any combos that are a must learn? so far im seeing cr.lk, st.lp, cr.mk > rekkas. cr lk, cr lk, rekkas. and st mp, cr mk > rekkas(im guessing this one is best after landing a dive kick?)
whats the scoop on his upkick? is that his go to anti air? is it actually practical to use it to catch people across screen?
is his command dash effective in mix ups? or is it too slow?(im guessing it’d at least be good to cross up charge characters.)
i also noticed there wasnt much in the combo thread for combos using meter. is it just not worth it? and better to save to use for the super?
anyone else accidentally negative edge a command dash when trying to go from cr.mk>rekkas? XD
ill probably try to read threw the matchup thread next; but i figured this would be a good place to start!
Negative edging into command dash is pretty easy They really need to fix the priority…
Rollkicks are the main anti-air of Yang, you can also use cl.mk. Don’t use rollkicks to traverse the screen too often, it isn’t safe on FADC anymore, but you can still backdash cancel it fairly safely, i think some supers still punish it. Also pay mind to neutral jumps. The vertical hitbox of lk.rollkick isn’t the most reliable.
All those combos you said are good, just so you know cr.mk also combos into mp.palm which can be fadc into a combo as well. fadc a palm into command throw is a pretty nice set-up as well.
His command dash will require a knockdown set-up to be as effective as possible in a mix-up imo, but the EX version is great for getting out of trouble, such as a vortex or bad corner situation. Be cautious with the EX though because you can be thrown out at startup. I really think it is a great use of meter though in certain matchups like ibuki for example, it really slows down the rate she can do damage.
More often than not when concerning meter usage, it really is match-up dependent for me how i use it as Yang. Sometimes I will spend a bar on xx.xx>EX.Rekka(1 or 2 hits), throw**/cr.lk combo/cl.mk/command grab/**lk.rollkick FADC/NOTHING(this is great once you get them confused and the DPs start flying), this mixup has proven pretty effective to me and is one of the best uses i have found for ex.rekka, which is usually considered a poor meter consumption choice in my mind. There are just SO many followups its a great way to keep the opponent honest and guessing.
Typically though, Yangs meter is often spent on a FADC after a hp.rekka, because that is when he can start his game.
some points i may add:
1-back jump mp is good when they jump on you,i started to used and it’s pretty effective(jump neutral early hk is good too) when u think lk senkyu will not make it
2-for ex rekkas,i also use it in corner for setting up a safe jump : ex rekkas > mk senkyu > jump neutral late mk > tenshin | block | blockstring
cool thanks guys!
so far my biggest obstacle is accidentally doing cr mk > command dash XD…got some work to do…
So, I know you guys have mentioned the RH in the corner before, but I tried it out for the first time today. WTF?!? I don’t even understand, Yang literally goes off the screen and forces every reversal option (that I’ve tested) to whiff or not even come out. This is ridiculous, I’ve been using it lately and I think it’s waaaayyy to OP
I have scrubbed out more than a few rounds this way by using HK in the corner and then immediately going into cl.st.MK > Ultra since they were blocking the wrong way lol. For players who have never seen it before it’s definitely a mindfuck.
Not really OP it only works if they try reversal with something, they can always just grab.
Wait… What is it?
The setup i use in the corner is: launcher > air target combo > st hk
You have to do the target combo in the air early so you land quickly other wise some reversals will beat it.
Considering the abilities of characters typically considered ‘top’, i would call this tech faaaarr from OP. Why when something is discovered in this age of gaming does it immediately become about whether it is fair or too strong or too weak. Back in the day before all this nerfing/DLC/blah blah bullshit when me and my friends would figure out a powerful tactic, initial reactions were more along the lines of ‘Sweet’ ‘Dude!’ ‘Nice.’ and then they would work even harder to figure out how to beat me. MvC on dreamcast during my younger years was a prime example of this… And I miss it. I just feel as though people want things to be ‘too fair’ nowadays, which as we see causes problems in the end no matter how it is handled (someone is always upset, angry at changes, etc).
