would you say yang fights grapple characters better since his ground game is better?
well he’s got to do the same thing like any other character. poke and run.
The command throws have identical range and startup from what I can gather.
According to Mago, Tokido and I think Daigo, Yun’s command grab has further reach. This question was brought up during an interview around the time AE came out.
I also think Yang’s command grab places him closer to combo as opposed to Yuns.
Man… I really can’t wait for AE to hit consoles. So many things I want to learn with this character but having to travel places 30 minutes away to play on the arcades is a pain in the ass sometimes…
After yesterdays stream i think we got a picture of how future torneys are going to be in AE. was hype too see twins in grand finals, i never realised that yun has a much better dick kick till i saw it at the same time as yun’s
now i can see why ppl say yun is better. after that stream. sheesh I might have to just main both to play it safe =d
Yea after that tourney everyone seemed in agreement that Yang’s damage is low. That won’t be a problem if he can make up for it somehow, but gimmicks aren’t gonna cut it. His mixups and resets are having some success in making up for his mediocre damage, but that success will wane as time goes on and people become accustomed to his patterns.
Note: I’m not saying Yang is bad, so don’t freak out. He’s actually quite good. It just seems like he’s missing something. Hopefully players like Nemo and Jwong will stick with him and find it.
Never drop your character because you have to work a bit harder for damage. I main Guy in Super and haven’t dropped him yet, he does great damage but his pressure game is a but lacking and to be honest doesn’t scare people and most things will only work if someone doesn’t know that match up period. Yang has ways to pull out great damage but most it won’t exceed up to 300+ with out the usage of meter or Ultra. But Yang has a 2 ways to Ultra 1 and 3 ways to land U2. (Not including punish or Focus Crumple.) His mixup game is great right now but I’m sure when DLC drops it’ll get expanded as well as his CH game cause we will be able to test out frame data, mixing in meaty attacks and what not.
Isn’t it 3/5?
EX Palm
Launcher
Slashes FADC
DP FADC (U2 Only)
EX Slashes (Corner, U2 Only)
yawn Nemo and Jwong have already “found it”. Yang is a very mobile character (only ever so less than Yun) with great ways to keep people on the defensive. You know those poorly designed characters with no health, no damage and nothing scary on offense? Well, give those characters halfway decent damage, plus some the best pressuring moves in the game, and you get Yang.
He isn’t a glass cannon. He’s a glass assault rifle. Mobile, loves lots of ammo (super/ultra meter) maintains pressure very well and still hurts like a bitch, even he isn’t the most damaging person in the world. He isn’t missing anything significant, else he wouldn’t be touted as top 3.
In most cases you’ll land an EX Palm after a stun or Focus Crumple. I don’t believe there is any possible way to combo into it.
Completely forgot about the EX slashes mainly cause Ive only seen it once or twice.
Yeah cause Nemo isn’t the best Yang currently and has over 50K in BP…
Not sure what you’re trying to say there, please be more specific.
I know, I just mean ideally it’s 3/5, not that you’ll see all of them that often.
Yang is undoubtedly one of the best characters in the game. He has a strong mix up game to make up for his mediocre damage and is more fundamentally solid in comparison to Yun (e.g. builds more meter with less risk, solid defensive options etc).
So I don’t know why some of you are tripping.
Was making a sarcastic remark, I agree with you fully
hahah, my bad.
Yang is just so solid in his own ways. He doesn’t have to be a carbon copy of Yun in order to exceed.
Wow people don’t like seeing someone say their character has a weak point. Not having high damage does not make a character bad. All characters have weak points and having lower damage is a ‘meh’ compared to others. I specifically said he’s one of the best in spite of it, but maybe my post didn’t convey that effectively so I apologize if it sounded like I was saying Yang is bad. (I put the disclaimer there just for you Wasted, you jump at things a bit much. Relax man, it’s a game. :))
Anyway back to Yang discussion.
Based on what players like Nemo have been saying recently (there was a recent interview with him and 2 others), I think Yang’s super will actually make him even better than people are currently giving him credit for. Nemo and co said that it simply hasn’t been broken yet. Scaling limits the usefulness of the c.lk/c.mp loop.
So if we want to give Seiei-enbu some more utility and bigger damage opportunities, the natural answer would be resets. Coincidentally lately people have been saying that one of Yang’s strongest aspects is his mixups and what some have referred to his ability to “freestyle.” So Yang players should look into incorporating super into this strong point. The c.lk/c.mp loop is fine if it will finish off the opponent, but blowing 4 meters is simply not worth it otherwise…unless people can find some good setups that will reset combo scaling.
Any ideas? I guess finding a way to incorporate Yang’s overhead would be the most obvious way of achieving this, but there have to be some other mixups so it won’t become predictable. Thoughts?
Hmm against Haitani in the NSB stream, I noticed that he did low strong, dash up low strong and the whole thing comboed - leads me to wonder if you can consistently do that on other characters… excluding the low short in that loop would increase the overall damage by a lot.
jimmy’s been talking to me about seiei enbu, he said that it’s much safer to sweep, then do a meaty palm and divekick in. makes since, though most of the time I just go into the overhead/low mixup after the sweep.
seiei enbu seems to suck balls when activated midscreen - I can’t figure out anything that’ll take them to the corner without burning the entire bar. the midscreen options he’s got after sweep are pretty weak too.
Can you Juggle someone with Yang using Seiei Enbu?
Just out of Curiosity.
I’m new to SSF4AE’s Yang.
