Just Finished Custom Vewlix! *artwork files updated 8-6*

That is nothing short of amazing!!! :wow:It looks gorgeous! It makes me wish I had a big house and a lot of money to pay you to make one for me. Well, I’ll keep dreaming about it for now. Great Job. Seriously:tup:

I can’t imagine how much that would cost though.

Cobrakai22 you couldn’t by chance tell me where you got your art could you? i’ve been looking for the movelist/profile pics for a while and i just have no idea how to find it. google brings up too many unrelated things, again man the thing just looks slick.

Does it have input lag issues like most HDTV’s?

Most of those peices are simple cuts and will cost nothing to cut to size…ud just have to pay for the wood… everything cept the side and top parts will be free i think. woodworking shops might charge something very small like 5$ a cut. and theyd cut any shape or size for you.

i asked the same question VIA PM. He said he notices no lag. im SURE it has lag but he said he doesnt notice it so he might have a good set when it comes to that.

@Surenio: No problem, everything looks a lot better the video on my digital camera isn’t the best of quality lol. All the games I play on my MAME seem to run fluid, I personally don’t notice any hiccups.

@mR_CaESaR: For the last few months i’ve had the itch to “build something with my own hands.” Main thing i did was read a lot. If you are curios on an area google is your friend. Just search exactly what you were wondering. Also hardbodycore is right try and find a family friend or a friends friend or a coworkers friend who happens to be a carpenter, most of these guy are down to either do it or at least help you out. Or you can try a wood shop too. Also the wood cost etc are not bad at all, I got 3 BIG sheets of the size MDF and they were 27 each so say 90$ and I was just wasting wood not being smart with it etc. for what you are getting in return even if you spent 150 in wood cause of mistakes it would be worth it.

@028: PM me what art you are interested in, if any other games etc. Im working on some artwork for some other members and I can get you what you need also.

@Smashbro29: I don’t notice lag, when I press something it comes out when I want it to. If there is lag it would have to be minimal. At the end of the day though if you are planning on making one etc. you can use whatever TV you want that it has been stated there is no lag.

Thanks Guys for the questions/comments, keep them coming!

Question from me to you guys

Where can I find a CHEAP (lol) version of seats like the ones used at a real vewlix? metal base with cushion on top. I checked some regular walmart target bed bath, any ideas?

Damn thats perfect lol, not sure if i have what it takes to cut and weld metal though haha!

u can just cut it and then put rubber tips u dont have to weld.

The videos are cool! I too am searching for those stools in the UK but have yet to find them.

I’ve also been searching high and low for stools. I may just settle on one of the ones I’ve seen on Staples.com.

Balt Stax (Red) - The other colors are OOS.

Chrome Adjustable - OOS. But maybe another store has something similar?

Cobrakai22, have you though about making a larger tray to fit on top of the control panel for when you use the keyboard and mouse? That’s what I’m doing with mine. I’m making a much larger and longer tray so I can fit another smaller keyboard (Wolfking) for PC gaming.

Damn this thing looks amazing. Really cool stuff seeing people make their own cabinets.

@tokerblue: that top red stool might be thebest/cheapest so far. Cant wait to see how you implement your idea for the larger tray!

I like what you did with the keyboard. That was my only issue with making one of my own since it would have to double as a computer desk. That and I would have to make one for a 40" TV.

If you did a 40" you should do 4 player CP like old school xmen beatemup sidescroll. It had the original"wide screen" lol

beautiful… simply beautiful

Cobrakai22, this the mockup I did in Google Sketchup for the PC modular panel that I’ll be using. The panel is in red.

Wow thats a good idea! Simple but super effective. Are you gonna use TE sticks for the CP?

Awesome work and inspiring Cobrakai22, especially with the lack of building experience and with the wife and baby to take care of. I can totally relate since I have a wife and two toddlers and I was up until 3:30am in SF4 training mode and woke up at 7:15am to walk the dog while everyone was still asleep. My custom joystick build has been a 4-5 month on/off long project for obvious hectic reasons, but now I’m motivated to wrap it up finally so I can start scheming my own custom Viewlix. What sold me is that it can double as my desktop computer workstation, which I was also planning as well. I honestly didn’t think about that one.

BTW, what Mac are you running in there? I was thinking of going the hackintosh route.
