If I were y’all I’d be fighting for the 5 frame crouching medium kick. I believe it is strong but I disagree that it’s too strong. In fact I believe that she needs it. Here are some reasons.
It’d be very similiar to a cross between cammy’s cr.mk and Rose’s cr.mp, the latter being combo-able from cr. light kicks. If it aint too strong for Rose, who is also a zoner, then it aint too strong for Juri. Especially since Rose’s mp is even faster at 4 frames. I’m surprised Kail didn’t mention Rose’s mp to Combofiend as I think I remember he used to main Rose, but then He’ll prob say, “You’re right! We should nerf Rose too!”
But thats not the main reason. If she loses the 5 frame mk, she can still be hit in between a cr.lk and any medium attack outside of close MP. With 5 frames, it’ll make the gap just right to not be too strong, 3 frame normals can still trade with it. It doesn’t have to be cr.mk, but she needs a 5 frame medium attack that works outside of absolute close range.
A 5 frame cr.mk fixes those instances where a st./cr.lk-> mk pinwheel fails to knockdown because of the stupid hurtbox, leaving Juri vulnerable to a punish(I’m looking at you Sakura). Unless they fixed that(which I doubt). Also she needs it for characters like Balrog and Guile who get pushed to far back to combo after a couple of light kicks. Their is no alternate combo that she could do instead. A 5 frame mk is without a doubt is needed there.
That’s not even mentioning the counter hit combo (which I feel she needed) that she will lose if they take it away.
Like I said, I dont see how it would be too strong. Except for the range, it functions just like a light kick to mk pinwheel. So either fix that, or leave the 5 fr. mk in. I doubt it’s the range that would make it too strong and the combo-ability from crouching light kicks is something Rose already has. So I dunno.
That is true. But Rose also doesnt lose a button in order to throw a fireball which I would say is a factor as well. Rose also only has a 2 frame gap and would trade w/ 3 frame light attacks, exactly what would happen for Juri w/ 5 frame medium attack.
Well, I only tested one character last night, but I was able to do AT LEAST 3 cr.lks into mp on a standing opponent, and was still able to combo into lk spiral. You dont need any more lks than that. Rose’s lk has more reach(i think) thus she has the ability to outrange herself if she does more. But I only tested one character so you could be right. Like I said it aint my fight so I aint gonna do a thorough test so whatever.
I did get thrown out of my scmk once. I thought it was just me and it was vs gief… Figured ex spd just ate me. Blue nine (Alex smith) said he noticed it more. Well see.
As for c.mk… I never had it so I can’t say how strong it was. I’m stoked for a 5 frame far lk however.
I honestly am gonna have to play with u1 more in ultra. I was doing a lot of testing in ae2012 (feng shui links giving 392 off an overhead… No bar mid screen) but I stopped when I heard about changes to her fse normals In ultra.
The damage values if u1 may change drastically all because mp is now 3f. Te way I feel now… U2 for most matchups.
Meaning if I can get more out of fse in a certain match due to the damage output then why wouldn’t i? Makoto being a match I can see getting more mileage out of fse.
But sagat… Even though I feel more secure with fse… The high low is much scarier now… I’m wondering if I can get more out if u2
Hm depends…you want to spend meter for that DU and MAYBE land an ex shikusen combo into kaisen. I’d much rather just use FSE all the time. Since while not always gaureenteed dmg 100% of the time, gaurentees mix-ups that can lead to over 500dmg from one combo. Or mix-up into 300+ dmg combos for no meter for 400+ with meter…and that’s what? Maybe 5 seconds worth of mix-ups? Noone can block forever and you’re bound to catch someone fuck up sooner or later regardless how good your opponent’s defense is. All it takes is some conditioning, knowing the opponent’s most likely “get off me move” to use and you’re set.
Most people will retreat when FSE activates…that’s to be expected. Of course in doing so obviously people go right to defense and hope to score something that causes FSE time to decrease harmlessly. I like Kaisen if onyl for the awesome cinematic it gives. Other then that Ill take FSE anyday.

Anyway, I have a bad feeling in my gut that combofiend will take away one more buff from Juri. I’ve still never really agreed with grey health on counter or no jump back dive without EX. That shit has always rubbed me the wrong way since it was confirmed
You don’t think people can block forever but when you play against strong players or people who know the matchup you’ll be surprised how…well … People can DEFEND against it. Against my training partners I don’t even use u1 anymore.
But in tourney… It was money. It really paid off having that ultra. Who knows…

After seeing what PR Rog was doing with Red Focus and Juri’s buff to EX Dive and far mp, I think U2 will be the better Ultra.
If you play against someone who plays faster games like Marvel or KOF, FSE really isn’t much of a threat. Even coming back from SFXT where her overhead is faster, her overhead looked so much slower in SF4.
Just came back from Fingercramp event in NYC playing some top players.
*A note to all Juris, work on your neutral game as most of you are lacking in this aspect. Set play is gone and zoning/footsies are king.
First thoughts: Juri feels complete
Far stand strong is her best buff as it allows safer pressure.
Stand far short is an amazing poke.
Instant dk still works, just need end the motion with jump forward/neutral instead of up back.
Ex DK is cheap.
Be mindful of wake up expinwheel since it sucks the opponent on block/hit and is highly punishable.
