I thought the same thing. Her changes seem to be great additions to her current state in AE 2012 but with the majority of the cast getting equally good or even better buffs, I don’t see her moving out of mid tier.

I mean, 1st off counter cant save your life now if your health bar is a sliver. you’ll just die while its active like Dudley’s counter.
and if u wanna gain ultra meter from far away just FA cancel the fireballs. so not really. its a nerf. its not a buff in any way.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a blatant nerf. There’s a silver lining though. I rarely try it when I have such low health that I’d lose and I often mess up my FA or dash timing against a good Guile that mixes up his booms. I can MP counter against them for days tho. That reminds me… can she double MP counter a EX boom or is it too fast? That’ll be some good meter and double countering looks sick.

There’s no back jump Shikusen anymore. It was a great trick. Every shoto had to respect this option, unique to Juri.
Gray damage Kasatushi. Kasatushi was the only non_wakeup_ultra thing in the game that could save you from Ryu’s EX DP cheaping (when you had no HP left). It was unique ability - no one else had something like this. It already took stun damage, now it takes gray damage - fine, but why Juri can be KO’d through it?
That announsed Sekku change got me really excited - it could become great trick in Juri’s sleeve. But, nope - it’s gone. Same goes for far.HK with similar reasoning.
Nerfing FSE start-up frames is just a bullshit out of this world, srsly. Why did they even do this? It would be MUCH more interesting to actually increase them a little (without making them cover all start-up), to make FSE be able to work as a situational reversal or trap. This would not be OP by any means - you’re taking too much risk doing this, but this could be a great option to have. A goddamn trick, unique to Juri.
Even cl.MK is getting nerfed 'cause of its utility.
And what we’ve got in exchange? Some better bnb’s, little bit footsies, few bug-fixes, reliable reversal etc, etc, etc. May be they should just remove storing at all and make Juri a new shoto character? Everyone had this, EVERYONE. Juri was unique. She wasn’t nowhere OP. I don’t whine “why did you nerfed Juri?”, I whine “why did you make Juri less unique?!”.

I could understand if u2 had its start up reduced but expanded horizontal hitbox doesn’t really serve a purpose at all.

I think it was to make EX dive kick > U2 a sure thing, sometimes it would whiff if you were not at the right distance.

Also, divekicks are mad unsafe =\ I’m glad the jump-back dive kicks are gone – was a terrible habbit~

I hate being teased is all. 5f cr.mk had me hype. Just like 2012 beta tests when juri could fadc pinwheel into cr.hp. Capcom is a tease. Edition select should have the arcade version of ultra.
Maybe its cause I’m stressed after work but I still feel like most of these changes won’t change the grand scheme of things. Juri still won’t be winning tournaments.
Since were talking about kasatushi nerf, ill reiterate why I think it isn’t a good idea. Gouken and Dudley lose health on their counter, but their counters constitute free damage when done correctly. Kasatushi never gave free damage. It was a “use it twice a match because the third time you’ll get blown up for it” kinda thing. It was never THAT great. It was a wild card option when in a tight spot that should be used sparingly.
kasatushi is trash, it’s just an anti fireball tool and a random terrible unneeded guess vs physical moves. there’s not really a feasible change to it that would make it useful.
she is getting better consistent damage now. that is a big deal. you’re not winning tourneys without some consistent damage.
she is having a better wakeup game now, which is one of her weaknesses.
she has ex mid fireball, which is an incredibly useful buff. you can do it while you hold L fuhajin! that’s going to be so good. you can store L, look for crMK ex mid fireball or just raw ex mid fireball, pop FSE.
her ex dive is now a decent thing to throw out and if it goes into ultra 2 midscreen it’ll be big burst damage - not something that juri had access to reliably besides crMK L fuhajin release FADC ultra 2, which requires the store and is pretty hard to do.
same deal for pinwheel red focus ultra 2 or even ultra 1 combos.
so yeah it’s not a huge amount of changes but we get
-easier ways to set up FSE with L fuhajin store
-better BNBs = more consistent damage
-better burst damage with ultra 2
these are a lot of meter reliant strats but she builds pretty good meter.
she will be fine.
I’m pretty happy. I think that if we’re getting grey health on counter it should be 1 frame meterless OR we should be able to cancel out of it earlier and/or into a grab but I get that they feel she’s too slippery as is.
If they gave Juri better walk speed, more Invincible EX pinwheel(Only decent thing she has right now) and cr.mk 5 frame start up and literally nothing else I would be praising the gods but now we have this shit. To be honest I’m probably going to play Yun now. TBF I blame the pros who’ve probably never played the character and already deeming her DA BEST! Now I know what the Bison mains must be feeling like. We got a bunch of fixes (If you call st.lp a buff and all the other shit in FSE a buff i will fucking cut someones balls off.) and a ton of our tools removed while the top tier barely got changed. Juri ain’t ascending the tier list guys. Pack it up. The dream is dead.
I can honestly contribute most of my losses to bad jump back divekicks lol. I’m bitter sweet about it, but mostly glad it’s gone too.

Why do I get the feeling that the reeling animation on crouching opponents will make st. lp whiff in combo’s? Them not showing it in a hitconfirm has me a little paranoid.
She’ll probably be high tier still. Maybe the lower end of high tier at worst.
I don’t understand why everyone thinks her wakeup is good now though. Ex pinwheel has 7f startup, that’s slow as crap for a reversal. Her 1f and 3f reversals (kasatushi) got nerfed. Her wakeup is certainly better but it’s due to DWU, and it’s still not great by any means.
ex pinwheel traded with meaties a lot because it wasn’t completely invincible, now the invin should cover that issue (?) obviously not if it gets out invincibled or if it whiffs, but yeah.

1f airborne cl mk - basically a gimmick
max range ex pinwheel is hard to punish with a big combo - that’s… not a great thing to have lol
jump back dive kick (non ex) - pretty unfortunate nerf, but meh it’s not too big of a deal. still can use ex dive to punish command grab attempts if we guess that defensively, and go into u2 for pretty big damage.
remove 2f from the 4f of invin on FSE - uhhh that hurts the ultra1 wakeup game or defensive uses. also a pretty unfortunate nerf.
kasatushi to escape chip on wakeup and do weird things- this move already kind of sucks

All they had to do was make kasatushi like it is in SFxT…there is was easily the best counter in the game and one hell of a move. Here…Might as well FA my way out of situations…Ex Senpsuha…great…now it trades a little less often now…claps. She now has a more “basic” get off me move…great so when it’s blocked and I don’t have enough meter for a FADC…I’m going to be punished big…cool…thumbs up
You could punish alot of things with kasatushi that you normally couldn’t with Ex senpusha. And no I’m not talking about the up counter…L and M counters could punish things…you just had to read up on the frame data for various moves and the fact you can cancel kasatushi into itself or attacks or even dashes.
Hell you could use L kasatushi against a jab and cancel the recovery into a backdash…coming out unscathed or a mere 30 dmg for a mashed jab. And since you can’t OS Kasatushi either it has be to done manually. That’s why I loved it in SFxT…it was so good…and lead to 50/50 of the basic attack or defend strat.
