I use Gen. I’m already used to low health.
I will however use Cammy for the next month and a half ish or however long till SSF4 comes out so I can get used to dive kicks.

Does anyone have really any idea what they are talking about in regards to who plays like Juri? No offense, but I can’t really see how Cammy does.
-No projectiles.
-No having to hold down buttons to charge a special.
-Juri’s Dive Kick is supposed to be like Akuma’s not Cammy if I’m remembering correctly.
-Low Stamina doesn’t matter. The difference between Seth and Zangief’s Stamina in SSFIV is only about 350. That’s one less combo you can take. Second lowest stamina is Akuma and he’s only 250 apart from Zangief in SSFIV. So, yeah. To compensate for low health, you get far better offensive/defensive options with that character though usually. In my opinion, low stamina is irrelevant. Unless your playing Seth.
Seth can help you get used to both dive kicks and lowlowlowlowlowlowlowlowlow health. Fun times. You’d have to play rushdown though. Dhalsim style won’t teach you much in this case.
Well, I mean Seth because I play him OnlineTony style. That is: I don’t sit back at full screen, stretch and boom. I rush down. and dive kick and stuff. but you need to be careful with the health at the same time.
That notion will be important to using Juri.
The difference between Seth and Zangief is 450. The difference between Akuma and Zangief is 350.
Playing rushdown with seth will probably prepare you for Juri. That and LK scissor pressure with Bison.
Wait. Since when does Seth have dive kicks though? Also, Doopliss your right. I made a mistake. The difference is 350 and 450.
j.d.HK. I really don’t use Seths dive kick, other than for:
Reset after j.d.MK
Changing air momentum.
Lol, the only move people know from Seth is j.HP and sonic boom xD
Juri’s dive kick doesn’t look anything like any of the other characters dive kicks really… you can do it from any height and it goes really far horizontal.
But yeah I guess cammy looks the most similar, although no one really fits the bill.
Juri was supposely supposed to be created with cammy and fei long players in mind so may be Cammy but IDK im pretty sure i heard that somewhere. I still dont see it.
No one does so don’t bother practicing a character just to get mentally prepared for Juri because she is a different beast altogether. Her dive kicks are unsafe so both Cammy, Rufus, Gouki, or Seth practicing won’t prep you for that. It’ll actually work against your favor if your are expecting to spam dive kicks for pressure. They are meant for air-to-air or a means to punish your opponent if he throws a careless move out while you are in the air. TK Dive Kicks have to be confirmed safe or a means to pressure/combo. If you want to practice TK motions with Cammy to get use to TK dive kicks with Juri fine but don’t say the two are similar.
Working with low health doesn’t mean anything either because we only have a small glimpse at Juri’s defensive options and we don’t know what is capable of beating those options like an OS shoryu. It’s like me saying hey I think her normals have high priority and safe so her footsie game will be strong I think people should practice Balrog’s footsie game to prepare for Juri’s footsie game. There are too many variables right now so just sit back and wait till the game’s release.
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2009/oct/28/japanese-ssf4-developers-discuss-juri/ “I think players who use Yun or Yang will enjoy using her.”
I thought of that too, but I think he meant just from SF4.
Anyways… Sakura maybe? I mean, her Otoshi is unsafe on hit and it sort of looks like a dive kick… except it sucks and doesn’t hit overhead.
I don’t know.
Sokay Juri’s dive kick doesn’t hit overhead either.
Honestly you want to practice a dive kick that is similar to Juri, go play Mai in king of fighters (not the most recent pos that came out the one before it). I honestly think she will play more like an SNK character in a lot of ways.
As far as her playstyle goes do you guys Juri’s custom combo ultra will have staple combos that all of the players will use like Yun or more home brews?
Well she has K’s fireball kick and her counters work like SNK counters only with rolling so you might be right.
The Yun/Yang thing sounds like the “oh we haven’t announced Feng Shui Engine, but-” comment to me, honestly. I can see some other stuff, but the particular mix is pretty centered on that.
Cammy seems like a world of different mindset to me. Cammy’s a really reactionary character for the most part, until you can get right in their face and start screwing with them. Juri’s kind of full-screen constant mindfuck-the blog mentions that even when she throws a fireball she’s still pressuring people from long range (can you say dive kick to punish jumping over?), and we’ve seen in some of the videos where people just don’t know what to do when all those purple swirls are flying around. In terms of SFIV it’s a pretty big mix. Hell, Gouken has two points of similarity in the held diagonal fireballs and reversal special, Chun Li has some more basic keep out zoning similarities and air normals, nobody but Viper has anything like her air control in SFIV, etc. The dive kick is fast enough she may prove to be one of those characters that’s really hard to zone effectively for the weaker fireball throwers as well.
I assume she’s gonna have 3 main combos. One ending with st.HK/Cr.HP -> pinwheel for most damage, one ending with sweep for hard knockdown, and one ending with st.HK/Cr.HP then going into f.MK for the overhead reset.
Again assuming here, but I believe the most likely combo would be cr.lk -> cr.mp (to keep the distance between you and opponent shorter) -> st.HK/Cr.HP then finish off the combo with either a sweep or reset or whatever. If this were to work you’d get at least 250 damage and either a hard knockdown a reset or close to 300ish damage.
I figure she only needs to use 1 cr.lk to hitconfirm during Feng Shui since she can cancel her cr.lk into some other normal into pinwheel or maybe even her fireball charge kick if the cr.lk gets blocked.
Theory fighter is fun. :looney:
At the end of the day, people are going to go with the ones that deal the most damage, so I say staples.

It appears that way from the very few videos of people using it. I just hope there’s going to be a combo to start it up to catch your opponent instead of playing chase after a random activation. Post knockdown activation will probably be the best option for mixup purposes.
