A savant is thought to be someone who is autistic (typically) but has an incredible natural talent for something, such as math, memorization, art or music. Either way, I wouldn’t be suprised if the poster you were referring to is right: it’s clear seeing DPs in 3D gave CAPCOM major stiffies due to how versatile it is and I wouldn’t be surpised if they’re Juri’s undoing.

I mean a lot of factors still are going to come into play to really say if Juri is going to end up good or not so anything now is speculation. I guess if she has safe mixups that you can combo off of and decent pressure, the low health won’t be too bad, you’ll just have to play her perfectly.
But the main thing that worries me is watching people like Daigo play the game and then seeing her playstyle. Most players can’t get anywhere near the dude. Juri’s pokes don’t look like they go as far as ryu’s cr.MK so I can see that being an issue for her, being out poked, on top of the DPs.
I think a lot of it hinges on her projectile. If you can throw it out and have it cover your approach, she might be a little safer. It’s how Akuma initiates safe offense so if she retains that as well, getting in close may not be quite so dangerous. I always wanna know how safe the pin wheels are. Can you just spam block strings into pin wheels or are they duckable / unsafe on block?
Hmm, just re-watched the NYC capcom fightclub showing of Juri vs Dee-jay. I just realized that her ultra doesn’t seem to juggle properly. I wonder if that was just something that was overlooked or it was supposed to be like that.
Edit to above : Justin believes that lk pinwheel kick appears safe on block, he didn’t mention the others so I don’t know.
How bout that for safe approach, basically covering herself against both aerial attacks, high attacks, and low attacks. Keep in mind these are also attacks. That sounds amazing. I really can’t wait to try that. Juri sounds more and more like an Ark Systems character every day. (which is a very good thing to me)
what do you mean by doesn’t juggle properly? i thought it just seemed to have odd timing, like viper’s ultra. ofc i could be wrong since that was still an unfinished build. :3
Well, if you look in the video ([media=youtube]F8aZDg8mRXE[/media]), focus attack -> ultra is 13 hits. That means the ultra is a total of 12 hits. When Juri did cr.mk -> pinwheel kick it did 15 hits, and I believe that the pinwheel kick is 4 hits, so it should be a total of 17 hits. When Juri did j.strong x 2 -> ultra, it did only 13 hits. So for whatever reason, some hits (or at least one) of the ultra are completely missing when juggled.
For reference : Focus attack Ultra starts at 4:36 or so. cr.mk -> pinwheel kick -> ultra starts at about 5:15, and j. strong x 2 -> ultra starts at about 6:30.
Given, 1 or 2 hits isn’t going to make a big difference, I just thought it was kind of odd.

LK pinwheel looks pretty damn safe - in the original trailer, Juri recovered and got a command counter to trigger when Dictator tried to c.jab her after being hit.
On her fireball special, you can hold the kick you pressed to do the move and hold the kick to hold the fireball until later use to implement into combos and what not.
It’s pretty much being able to charge her fireballs and waiting to release.
That ability to store her fireball is going to be really key to her game, in my opinion. It gives her various little tricks to generate an offense and will definitely be part of her more advanced combos. It could also generate safe options for her like storing an anti-air fireball creating an offense and releasing the fireball on anticipated jump ins or jump backs. If the the anti-air fireball causes float and allows for juggles it might give her good control. I’m hoping that anti-air fireball can link to an ultra or link to j.mpx2, Ultra.
Not sure how good her pressure game is going to be but I hope she has good priority normals that gives her a good footise and poking game.

Presumably that’s still in the Ultra-I. All gameplay video shown so far is -II.
She might suck, she might be good, who cares? We won’t really know until the game comes out.
Things to consider as of now:
She has a full screen throw. Why? Unless she can dive kick in from full screen and use that throw to corner someone I don’t see the point. That would also depend on the priority of her dive kick vs. wakeup reversals.
whether or not pin wheel can be used as a viable block string tool, like GT or tiger knee. Perhaps even as an AA.
How the fuck does counter work? does it count as a special focus like gouken’s that can be armor broken? Does it lose to lows like cross counter?
The new vid on eventhubs shows Juri is the Anti-Chun/Guile. Towards the end Dee Jay shoots a Maxout, Juri does her projectile and the first hit (when she kicks her leg up) blocks his then she shoots hers out as he tries to follow up. This might completely nullify Guile and Chuns slow projectile approach. My bad if it’s already been discussed. Just nice that you don’t need to waste EX meter or try to FA them.

my… i’ve only scene two vids… guess is that it’s part like each so only looses to throws, armor breaks [… so reversals w/ armor break], and lows that knock down.
Probably has 3 strength inputs for 3 optional follow ups. EX might not get knocked down or armor broken.
Forward-dash counter will probably be a great way to approach someone who is firing a lot of projectiles, especially as it should go through EX as well.
That doesn’t look to be fast enough for that.
