Juri Thread

hard to keep track of stuff in these threads.

has there been any talk of the move which looked like an EX taunt?

goes to work

edit

forget it,looks like it is her counter move.

In 3rd strike,I think there’s 3 characters which could perform wall bounce(Urien,Hugo and Ryu).I don’t think every character need to be able to perform wall bounce, but at least a couple of them should be able to do it(I’m thinking Gouken might do it since he’s the inspiration of Ryu fighting style in III).

Crumple specials should be reserved for charge characters.

dude the first character i played after Ryu was Rufus, and simply because he is a fat tub o’ lard

My girlfriend laughs whenever she sees his stomach ripple

No that’s pretty much exactly the reason I picked him up. That and his amazing paragraph long win quotes. Each and every one is gold btw.

Its like trolling while kicking the shit out of the other person, good times.

But in all seriousness, what makes Rufus fun is his moves, he could be a block of wood with sticks for arms and legs and I’d still play him for the moveset. Same thing with Juri

EDIT: Btw that’s the definition of a well designed character. Say what you will, but Rufus is an incredibly solidly designed rushdown character.

Hmm, I’m curious as to what her anti-air options are. Didn’t really see any good ones in the videos.

No, the part at 0:26 where she cancels the first hit into cartwheel.

Wait wait…people don’t like Juri?

WTF for?

Tae Kwon Do + Chi attacks + sexy poses + cybernetic eye = win

hah, based on what?

  • Dive kick looks fast, but it seems hella punishable on block.
  • Justin could not FADC her specials
  • Wall bounce -> Ultra didn’t happen; probably has super strict timing or is corner only. Alternatively, close launcher -> Ultra does work.
  • Super looks like it whiffs a lot on crouchers.
  • 5 out of the remaining 8 characters haven’t been seen yet, let alone the new versions of the returning 25.

Why?

kitzkozan:

Well I didn’t say every character needs those type of moves, but certainly more than the current number. Actually, I don’t even see why most shouldn’t have those types of moves - wall bounce moves are just alternate juggle setups and crumple stun moves are just combo extenders. There’s nothing exotic about either.

> Crumple specials should be reserved for charge characters.

Why? Especially when one of the two who have one so far (Viper) is not only not a charge character, but the move is barely useful.

I just can’t trust Capcom being able to balance the game if they put too much stuff in it.I’m sure Capcom would end up screwing the rebalance if most character had crumples or wall bouncing attacks. It’s not like Ryu isn’t loaded with options already…

But it’s the same move, which means that at least the first hit is not an overhead?

kitzkozan:

BUt you would have faith in Capcom if they didn’t put much stuff in it? That doesn’t make sense and history proves it isn’t true anyway: Capcom’s balancing efforts are completely hit or miss regardless of the amount of testing they do (SFIV is actually their best effort to date), and nerfing characters never turns out for the best, so they might as well ramp up the characters and make them actually fun to play. Balance is overrated. Most of the characters in SFIV are dull to play because they lack options or their best stuff is unnecessarily hard to do.

I wasn’t so much referring to it’s overhead properties (if any, based on footage) just so much as simply identifying the move itself.

I see, but there’s nothing wrong whith that right? Gens mantis s.HP does the same thing.

finally a new interesting character from capcom ^^.

oh - did anyone else notice EX dive kick armor breaking Dee Jay at 2:05?

Who’s that?

Hugo presumably. He’s a bit late though.

New blog update is up and seems to revolve around our special lady:

In part 3 of nyc capcom t hawk was tossing juri around. unlimited super and ultra is making it look worse and fake but all these command throw characters is starting to get annoying.
