Juri Combos: What works on who?

Sorry to double post but why wasn’t it mentioned that dudley can be hit with the corner combo with a mid fireball? Let me run through the cast. At a later time. I’ll only do the listed here.

Edit: okay. So some fireballs work with some normals. Others they don’t. I’ll run through all the fireballs and normals.

edit: yeah it works but theres the issue of its practicallity. The ones that work with the lk fireball you can confirm in enough time whether or not they are standing to setup the ultra. While the med fireball would whiff without cr.hp (which doesnt hit low unlike cr.mk) and cr.hp itself pushs you too far back. So yeah i dont think its worth mentioning at this point.

So basically you lose the option of hitting low, and risk that they crouch the med fireball.

Don’t know if you all knew this but. Scoring cr.mk or sweep with Juri causes her to dodge all projectiles. Course i’m pretty sure you all knew this, but for those who didn’t. Try it out and see it.

im going to have to revisit the fuzzy mp section in regards to the divekick followup, the full followup whiffs in the corner against some characters and the j.mp whiffs if your jumpin hits on some characters (so it doesnt combo) its pretty risky all in all which is lame lol.

It’s risky but you wouldn’t use it unless you knew it was gonna hit. It’s not that it’s completely impractical.

I took the lost from page 1 and use all fireballs. The video will show all whiffs and all hits.

Thread Update: Add additional info on the Fuzzy Guard j.mp regarding on hit and on block jumpin roundhouse and the divekick followup in the corner (which you dont get the full combo on some characters). Will update the info in the spreadsheet eventually, i have two more sections i want to add in at some point this weekend, nice stuff at that.

Fuzzy guard is weird. Can someone please explain this concept to me. I’ve tried to follow what the video says and see somewhat mixed results.

the concept is explained in that video somewhere, id reccommend anyone picking up juri to start by watching this anyway, it covers alot of fundamentals, the juri player is eish.

What happens is when someone blocks an attack high and then switches to low guard, they keep their standing hitbox for the duration of the blockstun even though they’re guarding low. Juri can use this to connect a j.MP immediately after a jump-in with enough blockstun (like j.HK), which must be blocked high.

So in essence what you’re saying is that it’ll cause a high block even though the person is low guarding and i can come in with a j.hp and land it? That’s too godlike! Btw i watch that vid a while while ago when i was first starting juri. It’s always nice to look at is as a refresher. Love that i can do most of the things in that vid ^^

I didn’t know before doing this list, but it seems tech’ed knockdowns can be delayed and mess with safejump setups, so the “easy sj setup” Store>Jump may whiff if the tech is delayed a lot.

I did a video on the corner combo vs juri. I plan on doing the rest of the cast. I seperated them as some normals work with some fuhajins. I started making seperate videos for that reason.

nah man thats solid like, shows some variations on how to eventually get to the jumping strong, from practical to impractical yet fancy. Sagats a good one to use it on because you can connect the j.strong off of cr.fierce which of course forces stand. Also ex dive kick works so hes the one that eats the most damage off that setup. Cr.mk is the most practical way to start the combo though, just because of how god like it is, though st.mk is another good option, i suppose if your feeling fancy and have 3/2 meter you could do what you did and fadc a low fireball off a regular corner BnB. Either way ill add it in next i update the thread, have a new section i want to add in at some point. Also cheers for for including my name in the vid+description.

Yes, and zangief Also can be c.hp xx low.

There’s a good reason why I showed all of them. What if you have only 4 or 5 frames to punish? Use c lp xx fuhajin > jstrong for a quick punish. The rest of the cast is a little skimpier on the normals xx fuhajin. Juri just… Everything works… Lol.

Yea. I hopes if I adjusted the tempo/pitch on the song used we wouldn’t have that problem. I’ll fix it tonight.

Maybe someone can help me out with this one im working on right now. Basically theres a section for j.mp to lk divekick into U2, its fairly solid and in practising that setup against all the cast while testing it out i pretty much know for each character how hard it is to connect all divekick juggle moves off a 1 hit divekick based on how they fall. Now thats fair play for myself, but i dont know of an easy to illustrate way to show the rest of us how hard/easy it is to connect juggles off tk divekicks ill give you an example:

Akuma: Easy to connect expinwheel/lk pinwheel/mk super from a tk lk divekick but hard to connect Ultra 2 and ex fireball, he juggles high but far away. You get better chance of connecting Ultra 2 off a tk hk dive hit deep because you cover more horizontal distance after it initially hits which allows you to connect into U2. There are those that have similar juggle launch properties like Abel and Dhalsim, but you can still connect a U2 on them on lk dives (after a j.mp too) its just a little harder but not as hard as Akuma.

Seth is similar to Akuma but for some reason its dead easier to connect U2 after IA j.mp xx lk divekick or tk hk divekick, theres more leniency. Jumpin mp xx divekick and tk lk divekick doesnt have much success. Gouken is exactly the same as Seth except its harder to connect the U2 after IA j.mp.

Theres always similarities but then there’s one glaring difference, which in fact makes all the difference, im trying to categorise them in my head but it never works.

So basically it works like this, im pretty much thinking i hit microsoft word and writeup a massive essay on one hit divekick juggle setups and followups, character by character on how they juggle, whats easier to connect than others etc… It wont need to be detailed, just a bullet pointed list on various observations i make on each character, with the two extremes where, lets say, an “easy” juggle character would be someone (like Ryu, Ken and Gen) that everything just seems to work on them, because their juggle hitbox is so easy to tag and stays in the air for so long and then theres just out and out “hard” to juggle characters (like Zangief) where nothing seems to work…although i think Zangief is the only one in this Category, Sagats a close second.

So if anyone has any feedback…yeah just say it now lol
