Velociraptor are well known for their role as vicious and cunning killers in the 1990 novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton and its 1993 film adaptation, directed by Steven Spielberg, in which they served as the main antagonists. The “raptors” portrayed in Jurassic Park were modeled after a larger relative, Deinonychus, which Gregory Paul at the time called Velociraptor antirrhopus.[3] The paleontologists in the film and the novel excavate a so-called Velociraptor skeleton in Montana, far from the central Asian range of Velociraptor but well within the range of Deinonychus. A character in Crichton’s novel also states that “…Deinonychus is now considered one of the velociraptors”, indicating that Crichton used Paul’s taxonomy, though the “raptors” in the novel are referred to as V. mongoliensis.[38]

The filmmakers also increased the size of the film’s Velociraptor and changed the shape of its snout.[39][40] The forelimbs and tails of the film animals differed from those of real dromaeosaurids, directly contradicting fossil evidence. In real life, Velociraptor, like many other maniraptoran theropods, was covered in feathers. Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, however, were released before this was known, and its raptors are shown with scaly skin. In Jurassic Park III, the male Velociraptor are depicted with quill-like structures along the back of the head and neck, although these do not resemble the down-like feathers known from real-life dromaeosaurids, and the quill knobs on some Velociraptor specimens show they had fully developed feathers akin to those of modern birds

also there is evidence that t-rex hunted, old ass evidence. i remember this old book from the 80’s that had the battle between trex and a triceratops. printed on the ground (footmarks) was the fight between the 2, triceratops won because trex was trying to bite/eat the back on the triceratops. the trex pushed itself further into the horns to get a bigger bite. bit of more than he could chew, and died.

also this isnt the only proof they hunted, theres more but this isnt the 80’s anymore, cant really remember other concrete exemples.

p.s. a movie about actual dinosaurs living in their own era being as real as possible, basically a docu but one that follows 1 dino during his lifetime made as full length film would be far better than any jp could ever hope to be. if it could do the same amount in the cinemas is a different story.

fuck no. Technically, this is the legacy of Michael Chrichton. He was writing one last Jurassic Park novel before he died. It has no actual ending, although his son did step in and create one using what he learned from his dad and what he was told. The actual books themselves were both incredible, the first movie is still one of my top 3 favourites of all time. I have been waiting for this for awhile, and to be honest i need a good Dino movie (wish they would let them be rated R for once) every now and again, and all the competitors are fucking awful.

And I’d like to see the franchise get back on its feet.

I wish they’d just adapt some of his other works.

Prey was awesome, I’d love to see a film version of it.
