Jumping Attacks

Whenever I jump, I like to use HP because it can crossup, and it looks pretty cool.

However, it seems that for my most experienced opponents, it is obvious that I’m going for a crossup.

So, How can you get an ambiguos crossup? J.HP can hit both sides, but I have failed to find the correct spacing for each side.

I was thinking of using J. MK to cross up, and J. HP for a regular jumping. It seems to me, specially on wake up, that at the same space, J.MK will crossup and J. HP will not.

What do you guys think? what do you use to not make your Jumpings too obvious?

Improve and rely on your ground game more and lessen the amount of jumping overall… that way it’s far less predictable when you do actually jump.

…thats how I’m trying to approach it anyway.

Pretty much learn the spacing, basically see whats the distance need for jhp to crossup, stay in max range for the cross up so you can easily switch whether to cross up or not and make it look really ambiguous and its good to switch it up with jmk which is more ambiguous

.

Sadly with Asuka, as the two above me stated, spacing is the only way to really make it good. Once people have seen Asuka’s very good j.HP, its easy to anticipate. That being said it can be used in tandem with her tools such as her counter and her standing low grab move (i forget the name, QCF P). Often times I’ll do the J.HP early and counter on landing and they usually are foolish enough to throw something out.

Ok, I just hit the lab with Asuka today.

It seems to me, like it’s not really a matter of spacing but time. If I delay the HP whenever I know that I’m going to crossup, it won’t.

On opponent’s wakeup it’s easier to use MK to crossup, and HP to not crossup.

Oh yes! and the SUPER JUMP! i gotta test that in the lab too!

That makes deciding to crossup or not to crossup at a given range more easy.

I hope I am so wrong about this, but Asuka doesn’t have a super jump.

Every character has a Super Jump.

In this game SJs are nothing like in Marvel or KOF, but they do increase you horizontal range a little.
