[Jul 21, 2012] Rockem Sockem Regional's (Charlotte, NC)

If this a weekly thing, then we should do $5.
There should be 2 seasons:

Season 1: Now – Final Round (March)
Season 2: Final Round – EVO 2012

Also, I think the points system needs a bit of work. Somebody can go undefeated one week and get 1st but not be able to make the 2nd week, but I could go both weeks and get 5th and end up with the same amount of points as a guy who is undefeated, which I don’t think would be fair.

I understand a RanBat should reward people who consistently make an effort to show up but it should also reward high placers as well. I would prefer a points system like this:
1st: 10 pts
2nd: 6 pts
3rd: 4 pts
4th: 2 pts
5th/5th: 1pt each

That’s some good shit Shiki. I like it. I never thought about it that way. Thanks for the input. I will make the adjustments. Makes sense to me. You going to make it out?

There will be 20 weeks in one season. (From now until Final Round) Even if someone gets 1st place one week and misses one or two, that still leaves 17 more RanBats for them to attend. Which if they rank high or in the middle they can still get a lot of points to surpass those that attend every week and don’t rank as high. Giving points to top 10 is designed to encourage as many people to attend and to attend on a consistent basis.

We can still do Top 10 payout at the end of the season. I think that would encourage people to still attend.
Giving out too many points will just dilute the system IMO.

Plus, giving greater payouts to higher placers gives greater incentive to people out of town who may only be able to make 1-2 weeks out of a month.
Obviously it’s important for Charlotte to grow, but I’d like to see people from out-of-town or even out-of-state show up.

I’m definitely for people out of town coming to these and I see your point. On the flip side I wouldn’t want the points system to be so anemic in allocating points that it rewards top players for bare minimum attendance because that’s not what these ranbats are about. It’s about leveling up and bringing the community together on a weekly basis. The points system we came up with is modeled after Wednesday Night Fights from Level|Up Series in California since they seem to be the most successful ranbats out there. The difference in points from WNF to what we have thus far is they gave points to top 8 and we changed it to top 10. So maybe we need to bring it back down to the top 8 if not the the top 5 you suggested. Either way, Brian and I will look at the points system and revamp it to satisfy as many people as possible.

I agree with you guys. I am going to change it to top 8 and with the point system Shiki mentioned. Also West had a good point that what if only two people show up. Then it would be a Ft5 for 10 and 8 points/ top two points given.

Sounds good guys. I will make the adjustment. Anything else?

You may have misunderstood me a little. I was just suggesting that the points awarded should be proportional to the amount of players at the ranbat. To be more specific, if it were just you and one other two weeks in a row, that would be 18 points for each of you according to the current system. I was insinuating that if only a few people show up, there should be less points given overall. 18 points for 2 weeks of low turnouts is a huge advantage, I would suggest a little lower total points, but not too low so there is still an incentive to show up.

I have adjusted the point system. It is updated on the main FB page. It changed it so that the person with the most points could miss a day if they had too and wouldn’t lose their standing so easily.

I get what you mean by that and was trying to make it even out with out so much shit to look at. We will see how this works and if adjustments are needed then I will make them as needed.

See you there.

ReSe is on the 17th. I will have an event with the addy and info up Saturday. Sorry for the delay, I promise it wont happen again. Unless some dhead at the hotel try’s to F*** me again.*

good 17th I got drill weekend and I can’t do anything…

if I be there like 5 or 6 o’clock can I still play casual? and bring set up??

Yes sire. Would be happy to have you. Don’t know if I need the setup by then or not but bring it just in case. You can at least play casuals on it like you said.

Alright guys I have the info up for the next tourney. Sorry it took so long but having issues with the hotel so I said fuck it and went next door to their competition

I’m ready, lemme know if you need help with anything Brian

Shiki!!! I need your help to run BB and maybe another if there is time for the Pentathelon. I will cover your entry.

Read the info on the tourney!!!

I made changes to how the dual system is running. You need to bring a converter if you play on a pad cause the games are running on only one system.

I’ll be there, and ready.

Also, it would be much appreciated if you pasted pertinent information from Facebook in this thread and also the NC Thread.
I don’t have Facebook, and I know a few people who don’t really check Facebook for tournament information that often.

Kinda last minute but I just realized I can head to this, so I will. I can bring a 360 and a CRT for 3SOE, is that needed? I’ll also bring AE but since that’s being run on PS3 I guess that doesn’t matter.

Yes that will be good. Than

Yeah man. That sounds good to me. I really don’t want to run anything on a CRT so if I have room for an extra system then that will be fine. I say bring it and if we use it I will comp your venue!

Also, If you bring a setup and want your venue fee waived then you have to be there no later than 1pm. Any later and I don’t waive venue. I have to start by 2pm so I need it all setup and running well in advance

How about a marvel team tourney? Anyone down?

Brian, are these the same tvs and setups as last time? Marvel was a bit laggy. I can bring a hdmi cable, because I noticed they were running through vga last time.
I dont even know if that will make a difference though.

LOL, what are you talking about, VGA? What setups were laggy?
