My joystick is moving around drastically when I’m play SSFIV, it often makes me mess up at crucial moments and it can cost me the game. It’s like half the time i’m trying to move it back to it’s normal position instead of concentrating on playing the game.
I have it on my lap and I can’t really play with it on the ground because it becomes extremely uncomfortable because i’m a really tall guy.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my joystick still and stop it sliding around on my lap?
It’s a SE SF4 fightstick with sanwa parts, so although it’s the same as the Tournament Edition in most ways, the lesser weight is causing problems for me, and It would be pretty stupid to buy a TE stick simply because it’s heavier lol.
I may just purchase the Tournament Edition and sell my current stick on ebay. It is getting REALLY frustrating and I doubt i’ll feel comfortable with a fightstick inbetween my legs lol.
I put my right ankle on the part where my left knee and left thigh meet up and make the area kind of like a small table. I find it’s more stable than just playing with both feet on the ground.
I play on a coffee table or in tournaments have a stool. Eventually you will develop a light touch not to move the joystick too much when in your lap.
I kinda equate the stick moving around to the little 5 year old kid playing mario and jumping and pumping his feet when he is running, but to a less severe degree. Eventually with time you will move it less.
In the mean time to make your stick heavier go to walmart, buy a bag of metal BBs. They use them in air rifles. Walmart.com: Crosman Copperhead BBs, 6000 count: Hunting
Put them in a ziplock bag and duct tape like a mummy so it won’t break. Then duck tape it to the inside bottom metal plate. For $10-$15 you got a Heavier stick.
:u: This.
I had the same problem with the stickmoving when I switched from happ to sanwa. Eventually (few weeks) I developed a lighter touch of play and no stick moving issues since. I also play with the stick on a table or desk too though, so good rubber feet are a plus.
Ive been using sanwa for a while and still don’t have this so called ‘‘Light-Touch!!’’ You speak of! On a personal note the Madcatz sticks, Ive never had trouble with them moving and i beat the hell out of them when i play i normally keep my feet grounding on the floor however so its stable like a table so there is no slant and ive seen people sit with a slant with stick on lap they have like the most light touch , That ill never have
Anyways a solution is instead of buying a new stick you could buy better rubber feet, I remember there being a thread about buying certain rubber feet that worked really well
I’m not that tall, and it works OK for me. (I do ride a motorcycle though.) The mad scientist in me wants to put a belt through the stick so you can be strapped down.
@ bulimic cannibal- dont sell the stick on ebay, you wont get fkc all for it, used te sticks are going for £60 odd, se sticks modded with sanwa or not are fetching £30 odd, why not get a wooden case that you can shove in the se stick into to make it bigger, and then place some weights to make it heavier??
btw, i bought 6 te sticks for my ps2 fighting games collection, i thought why not have four spare (because i still regret not getting the sf2ac nubytech ones), the worst thing for me was that i could not find any one to mod them for ps2 use, i contacted b15sdm designs and he wanted £80 each plus delivery both ways to london!!! so in order to get some use out of them i done the next best thing, i thought i only ever play sf2 when on my own so i bought a ps3 and sf2 hdremix last month, i been gettin whooped online but enjoying it, i figure a beating is expected, as all the players online have like a 2 year headstart on me. but im gettin better day by day, i gave a blanka player double perfect and he ragequit on me, i love it when i make fools rage quit.
@ HANDLN1- i think i played you on hd remix on psn, im always playing as red ken, spamming shoryukens and juice kicks, recall???!!!
back when I just had an SE, I took velcro and added some to the rubber pads on the bottom of the stick and put the opposite piece onto a spare shelf board I had… I put that in front of me on an ottoman and it was good and sturdy.
lol, i dont mash i i sometimes have the same problem. but with a bigger stick it doesnt happen as often (te stick). man im really interrested in one of thos rap vlx sticks, but 300 fucking dollaz? wtf man. shit does look awesome though.
friend of mine put something between those pads under the te and the underside of the stick. like a matt or something, it way less likely to move now.
I had a similar problem with it sliding off my knees and costing me games. I can do it alright on a couch…because your knees sort of rise up since your body sinks a bit in the couch (compared to the chair)
from that, I just got something to put my feet on. that raises my knees just enough so that I can put the stick on my lap and there would be no moving/sliding off. other people, when seeing my at tourneys, noted how smart it was and even tried my same foot stool and like playing like that.
for the foot stool, I just got a simple small storage crate/bin/basket from target and turned it upside down.
I use a custom and a t5 stick which are both heavy enough to be stable but I can see someone having issues with the SE. I’ve seen players put this mesh like material on the bottom of their sticks and they act like it makes a big difference. I forget what it’s called. You could also just tape the joystick to your legs.
