Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Anyone else collecting the printed translations by Viz? It’s been available translated online for a while now but that doesn’t compare to reading Jojo on the bus or during a tea break at work.

There’s already a thread for it.

I don’t see why there can’t be a thread for it here since it is a comic, just from another country. And now there are volumes being released in the US as well. Feel free to post in either thread, really makes no difference to me.

Anyway Hirohiko Araki is one of my favorite artists. I always look at his stuff for inspiration. He is really great at drawing people’s hands. I have the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga in Japanese up until the fourth arc, that is about the time it got to ‘Bizarre’ for me LOL! He is a great draftsman.

I have the first 2 volumes of JJBA translated in English so I’m behind lol! The translation’s really good, I wish they would of also released the first and second chapters and not of just jumped into the third chapter, but I can understand why they did it. At least the first volume catches you up to speed with regards to everything else that has happened.

My favorite is the second chapter. World War II goodness and Lisa Lisa (the inspiration for Rose in Street Fighter BTW) was smoking hot! Hirohiko Araki doesn’t draw women that fine anymore (last one was Mariah in part 3), now all his women have big heads and little bodies. It’s like he came down with Akira Toriyama syndrome lol! Ah well his women are still pretty hot (ditto for Toriyama) but dang not like Lisa Lisa. :lovin:

^lol, yeah now that you mention it his best art of women were indeed Mariah, Lisa Lisa & probably Midler as well.

Yeah in the manga Midler was only seen lying on the ground, catching a fast off panel GGPO and her stand took over from there. Well Hirohiko Araki fleshed out her human form for the game too so same difference. :smile:

Maybe someone could move that thread into the comic book forum where it belongs.

Well if the other thread wants to focus on the manga and the anime the way the GD Naruto threads do than it’s fine. Here we can mainly talk about the manga. Shouldn’t be hard, not that much JJBA anime out there anyway. Course if you want to talk about the anime here, feel free I won’t stop you lol!

It’s like the Berserk thread, where there’s way more Berserk manga than anime, by default the manga will be discussed more. With Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Death Note etc. it’s just about equal or so, those threads are better off in General if they are not going to focus solely on the manga.

Shrug, up to you I guess where you wish to place anime/manga threads. Kind of a blurry line. I can’t move GD threads here, you’d have to take it up with a GD mod. I don’t think it’s a big deal though. Berserk had a thread in GD too before, it eventually died but so it goes. Just don’t start a Spider-Man thread in GD or I’ll come after you with some Spider Stingers. :rofl:

Watching Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex Second Gig, I’m up to the third DVD. On the DVDs there are bonus mini cartoons called “Tachikomatic Days” which feature the talking mini tanks, the Tachikomas of Ghost in the Shell (in the original manga and the old PS1 game they were called Fuchikomas). So on the Tachikoma Days ep after the 11th episode, a Tachikoma had a red version of himself floating above him like a stand, and he was inked with heavy blacks Hirohiko Araki style. And then the Tachikoma said “THE WORLD!” and everything froze into place. On top of all that, they tossed up the “To Be Continued…” arrow that Hirohiko Araki always uses, and it’s the same one used in Capcom’s JJBA fighting game too! Dang I was dying laughing!

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

EDIT: Episode 12’s Tachikomatic Days sort of repeated the same thing, the Tachikoma performed “THE WORLD!” again and the “To Be Continued…” arrow was still there. Whoa they must love JJBA! :lovin:
