Battle Tendency was my favorite too but I only read the first 3 arcs anyways. I never read the others and only know bits of the stories from hearsay.
Part 7 is the best arc in my opinion and itâs only optional to read the original 6 parts before beginning Steel Ball Run. I recommend at least watching/reading the first 3 parts to better appreciate Part 7âs story. Itâs a reboot of the JJBA universe and appeals to fans of the first 3 arcs.
Yup. Stands are a gimmick. They were cool when they first showed up and were a fresh concept but, only get more and more stupid over time.
the introduction of stands does the opposite of limiting the creativity of the show, if anything they get better as it goes on
Stands were a mistake. Itâs nothing but trash.
Stands arenât bad imo, I just think that itâs harder to write for them as opposed to hamon/martial arts. Seems like after Part 3, everybody on the block has a fucking stand of some sort. The goons to powerful villains ratio seemed skewed in favor of the goons and, not to mention the main villains of the later arcs were pretty lame in comparison to DIO, Kars, etc. Villains probably became lamer cause the story wasnât as supernatural and grand as Parts 1-3.
*I suggest you change that my man. Just a friendly suggestion, or wait for Diamond is unbreakable in anime form. *
*I never thought much about your work anyway, Miyazaki. *
*I actually think Kars is one of the worst main villains in the entire series. Whammu and AC/DC showed him up big time in my eyes. And if I compare him to Diavalo (badass), Pucci (did way more) or Funny (see Pucci) then he lags behind the others. I like Kira more than him too, but I canât say that Kira accomplished more than Kars.
If people want more ripple they should read part 7: Steel Ball Run. I wonât get into the Stands vs Ripple debate but I love them both. I like Stands more because of how I interpret them but I canât be mad at people who miss the Ripple. *
@DarkGeneral
i share the same sentiments. the fact that the manga was made years ago and araki was much younger should be enough reason why some readers consider stardust crusaders as âweakâ when it really was a maturing phase of the whole saga.
stand designs and character progression started ramping up; villains and goons started becoming memorable as opposed to just being one-dimensional punching bags.
hamon/ripple was a cool concept and all but araki got his creative juices flowing when he introduced stands so in a way the series got better. steel ball run tries to appeal to both stand and ripple lovers since it is an alternate universe-type of story, no complaints there.
lastly, the stands being a gimmick is pretty shallow seeing as how many volumes araki chose to run with it as opposed to say vampires and shit. wonât be surprised if he starts using nuclear, cybernetic, mutated, irradiated and other-powered opponents into the series soon. LOL, that would be the absolute shit.
Decided to start watching the original Stardust Crusader OVA. Shit is so ultra-serious itâs hilarious. Why is everything so dark?
OVA was made from way back obviously, before HD became standard. personally, i really like the graininess and darkness of it. adds a lot of atmosphere to the whole OVA series.
Iâm pretty sure heâs taking about the mood and atmosphere, if i remember right that ova doesnât have very much of the typical JoJos humor.
I could be wrong tho lol
Am I the only person expecting Giorno to pop up in the newest chapter? I just got this feeling that somehow Gold Experience Requiemâs Negate consequence ability might have somehow saved him from being erased and displaced him in the alternate universe
1st OVA episode I couldnât tell whether they were walking into a Japanese prison or a medieval dungeon. Joseph is way more serious and grim than Jotaro lol.
I need to start reading again. From all the random pictures and tidbits Iâve been gathering, the story is getting more interesting
JoJolion chapter 44 is out
Spoiler
We finally found out who Gappyâs other half is!
The 90âs OVA? I really liked that one. Even if so much of the manga is left out, that its basically a âcliff-notesâ version of the story. I also liked the way Avdol made his big return in that one. I thought it was much better done.
Whats wrong with things being serious? Putting down Dio is serious business damnit. But then again, i love serious-tone shows like Hokuto No Ken, YuYu Hakusho, and DBZ.
And even though the new Stardust Crusaders show was awesome overall, i did think it was a little TOO damned PG-13 at times. Yeesh.
Anybody checking out these Jojonium comics? Book 3 comes out this week. Artwork is way better on paper than scans online. Canât wait for Battle Tendency to come to America.
Yea. I got Part 1 vol 1 and 2, waiting on Vol 3 to come out and Battle tendency vol 1 to come out.
Because itâs not supposed to be so suppressive all the time, the humor is there to balance out the mood.
it was kind of PG13 because of all the censoring. Like the part with gray fly ripping peoples tongues out. Or Ebony devil cutting that guys face off. They couldnt even show Jojo smoking cause he was under age.
