Doing combos online takes some adjustment. You really have to play with different chain timings to know how much to slow down certain chains to make sure the right normals come out. It’s not as bad with certain characters (Dio Brando, aka the easiest character in the game) as it is with more technical/timing-oriented characters (I feel for you Valentine players). Honestly I don’t think it’s TOO bad as Japanese games go (at least for in-state play), but then again I was playing at my brother’s place, and he has a godlike connection.
The only character I really miss from the series that I would want in the current cast is Mecha-Stroheim, he just seemed like a perfect fit for me from the beginning. Oh well, always next time.
The rock-paper-scissor boy lets you choose a boss to fight if you win. You can disable one of his options at the cost of one bar, and two at the cost of two bars. I recommend you to do the one bar option since it’ll make you win for sure anyway.
The Cairo Informer (the guy with the sunglasses) lets you choose a boss to fight, at the cost of two bars.
Wekapipo disables enemy’s Gauge at the cost of one bar.
Stroheim makes your opponent start with 70% of their HP.
F.F. either does 250 HP damage to a boss of your choice, or refills one of your bars, for free in any case.
Cioccolata increases the HP damage against Bosses
Dragon’s Dream: You start with one HHA bar at the cost of one battery unit. You can refuse it chosing the secong option.
Darby: If you pick the right card (9/10) he grants you a randomic beneficial effect during the next fight.
Cameo: Allows you to chose three beneficial effects for the next fight.
Enya: If you pick the right card, you get one additional medal after the fight. You can do it for free or at the cost of 1 and 2 battery units… not sure what happens when you use battery units (if it gives you more medals or a rarer medal).
Dire: Makes your opponent start with 70% of his life bar. You can pay 1 battery unit to additional effect - increase the damage, I suppose.
I can’t recall any other atm. I’m not too sure of Kenzo, I think it’s just like Wekapipo.
Also at the end of every match you could find:
Tonio refills one of your bars
Pocoloco refills the whole battery (very unlikely to find him tho)
George Joestar makes your next match rating all S, doesn’t matter how bad you play.
Thanks a bunch for the info, Kuroi Aima. Any idea what Devo does? More specifically, does he actually debuff you if you refuse him, or is that just an empty threat?
Finally got to play Old Joseph and Lisa Lisa. old Joseph is just as easy as I thought he’d be except for the surprisingly tight timing on 41236S, Son, 41236H. I can see why the tall-characters-standing version with Son 41236L (upgrab) would be attractive, that looked a LOT more forgiving. Definitely my No. 2 guy right now after Dio Brando.
Lisa Lisa was neat, too, once I figured out the trick to her basic BnB. She seems pretty decent, I just don’t get why the window to input her 236X > A followup is so ridiculously small. That’s the only part of her design that really doesn’t make sense to me. That and her 2A having like 3cm worth of range. (Future patch notes wishlist: “Lisa Lisa now performs her crouching light attack with her ENTIRE arm.”)
The main thing I still don’t get about Campaign mode now is the cooldown. I beat two 1500 HP bosses tonight with like 5 bars’ worth of battery, got about 3 bars from supports, but by the end I was looking at like 10+ minute(!) cooldown to get back a bar from 0 battery. Does the game jack up your cooldown time based on how many bosses you’ve beaten (consecutively), or how much battery you’ve been refunded, or what?
Yeah I got a 1000 point card online and now have Oldseph in my posession! Character is as fun as I’d hoped and loving him as much as Kars! He was my number 1 pick to make it into the game so I’m happy he’s fun and affordable, lol.
With my leftover points I got Lisa-Lisa and Iggy as well (sorry Fatty). I only tried LL for like five minutes in training so I didn’t really get her but MAN Iggy was pretty fun. His Sand Dio special seems great. There has to be some sort of cheap mixup/ reset involving it lol.
Not really, they improved the rates of the boss encounters and the color giveaways with this update and I’m already doing the methods to unlock shit quickly, which involves a lot of AFKing to let the battery charge at the boss/npc screens so I can get a 1HKO.
Really? Cause it seems the exact opposite to me, before I was getting Boss battles and netting most if not all the items in one go. Now I am lucky if I get one or two colors out of it, and hardly do I get a costume the first time I fight them.
Also hard to AFK on a boss at 4k and up, since the second battery charge seems rather inconsistent on when it wants to pop up. So far this process has been rather frustrating overall.
But then it beats paying for it.
Time to search for a good Iggy combo vid, if I find one I’ll post it up for Jocelot to see as well.
ImShiawase has an Old Joseph and Lisa Lisa combo vid up:
Combo damage with the notations on the Old Joseph vid is a nice touch, wish more did that.
What are you talking about? Every time I get a pick a boss NPC, I let the battery charge all the way, empty it on the boss, wait for 1 block and start another fight with him, then wait at for it to recharge again and empty another full battery on him. Takes care of all the 7500 ones.
My favorite Iggy combo is StandON airdash j.M, c.L s.MH XX qcf+H Puttsun dash s.L c.M slight pause s.H XX qcf+H XX super. You can do the Puttsun twice if you have the meter to waste, and despite being a juggle this seems to be reliable next to the stage boundary provided you have the timing on everything correctly.
You can also do something like SOff Shadow Dio special Puttsun SOn dash s.L c.M slight pause s.H XX qcf+H XX super.
There are also a couple Iggy combo videos on ImShiawase’s Youtube:
