I see them buy lots of Tecate, Modelo, and Bud Light.
And you should drink more boddies!!

Can we make a Twitter boycott of TL trashing them?.. I’m damn serious.
He abused all the FGC… Now is time that we abuse him…
Is it that obvious?
Yo, was john on the twitch stream? or the ustream?

I NEVER DONT GET FUCKED!
OK, first of all, news flash for everyone – anyone with money in the FGC is going to be a major player in this community these days, if you haven’t noticed.
Second, as an organizer it isn’t our job to tell other people what other events to support. We focus on what we do best, and other tournaments don’t always run in ways I agree with, but that doesn’t stop me from supporting them because I still feel this is a community and we aren’t eSports enough to not need each other to survive – EVO augments us, and we augment EVO.
Third, BUYER BEWARE and decide what’s important to you. If you are care about principles and the business practices of TOs, actually look into them, talk to other TOs, etc, to find out what they think of X event. What’s funny but saddening to me is that practices the OP is complaining about I know for a fact other “community” tournaments did this year too.
If all you care about is a big event and enjoying yourself and not the politics, go to whatever tournament you feel like. We don’t try to soil other people’s names, we’ll let them do it themselves and let people make up their own minds.
I can give you blanket statements tho from our end: do not trust people who promise something and don’t deliver. A good director takes CARE of his constituents, because without you, THE PLAYERS, events are nothing. Even if sponsors or whatever fall through, that’s not an excuse because it just means the director SCREWED UP spmewhere and is making the players pay for it. And I don’t think thats acceptable, and none of you should either. Because it means “My pocketbook is more important than my credibility and love for the community and playerbase.” Any good business knows sometimes you have to take a financial hit if you are have completely let your consumer base down, if you want to show people you remotely care about them and not just their venue dollars.
This is a shame really. I hope they apologyse themself

What I feel about Revelations and Tournament Legacy.
As a part of the East Cost KOF scene, I’m glad the KOF crew walked out. After all the work the KOF community has done to make people notice and recognize the KOF hype, we don’t need that kind of drama or that kind of guy ruining things. From what I’ve read, heard, and seen, ESPECIALLY when it came to a freakin CHARITY event, it’s plain obvious that this guy is a disgusting human being, and is someone that not only the KOF community, but the entire FGC DOESN’T need. There’s only so many excuses you can give out before you realize all your sob stories don’t balance out all the shitty things you’ve done, and with a bunch of people backing these stories up.
And jesus christ, you have Maximilian and his Assist Me crew commentating Marvel. I feel sorry for whoever watches this crap. I’m not sayin Max and his crew are crap. I love em, but I mean, it’s looking mighty bad. -FM Sway
I’m sad for Max and the Assist Me crew since he will be wrecked by the tweets and critics because of his participation on this shitty tourney…
bam - http://www.twitch.tv/teamhazmat/b/329100829?t=8h47m55s (if the timestamp doesn’t work, it starts at 08:47:55 )
when you hear John saying “what the hell?” he’s reacting to the barrage of chat users ruthlessly trashing him. Then max says “type 1 if you love John Nelson, type 2 if you hate John Nelson”, and the chat window just became flooded with 2’s
then he starts victimizing himself and says “there’s so much anger and animosity… for supporting a community that you love!”
someone needs to tell him what the word “support” actually means
For the first time ever, Stream Monsters banded together for a greater cause.
Shit, guys, I think the Mayans were right.
The scary thing is… John Nelson doesn’t, or shouldn’t have any money. Every story I hear about him is him losing money, not having any money, etc. So how he’s continually boasting about these big numbers, I don’t know.
I am a huge fan of yours from the early BB days (quit shortly after CS1), so it would have been my honor to have met you and shake your hand.
Valle and Level|Up have disassociated themselves with Tournament Legacy after sometime in late 2010/early 2011 as far as I know. Don’t know any specifics regarding that though. I’m sure considering how long Level|Up was partnered with TL, they have their own horror stories, but I’m sure as a respectable business they aren’t going to go out of their way to bash an ex-partner.
Or who knows, maybe they just ended their relationship for business reasons. Only LU and TL know what happened.
John Nelson sounds like a whiny mofo. Like voice-wise
I’m kind of surprised because you expect scammers to sound suave and collected
I don’t really follow the srk forums so I didn’t know about this till now and but it seemed strange from the beginning. On one hand I didn’t understand why revelations wasn’t advertised on eventhubs but on the other hand I found fchamp’s and jwong’s tweets somehow reassuring. This made me think that there simply was some beef between ehubs and revelations for some unknown but irrelevant reason.
Now everything makes sense and it’s clear who the bad guys are and who the conscience-less money lovers are. John Nelson screwed people up for money. It’s also very likely that Jwong and Fchamp worked in order to raise trust in this conman. On the other side of the top player spectrum, people like wolfkrone and infrit who “never talk” expressed their honest opinions/experiences on TL and JN. This whole event should open the eyes of the community on who to listen to and who to ignore (apart from their playing skills).
What I find very counter-productive was the “boycott” of ehubs and srk. Websites that are staples for the community should act as such. Silence was the worse way to boycott such an event. People like me who don’t know anything (so the vast majority of people) end up thinking that ehubs and srk choose who to advertise. For a second (before seeing the shoe ad behind the commentators) I thought this event was being boycotted in order to prevent it from becoming the top major. I thought of this because not knowing anything I only knew about the huge prize pots…
In conclusion I think ehubs and srk, instead of being completely silent about revelations, should have written a nice article with references and quotes from players showing what was going on. This should have been done before the event in order to give the community the possibility to know what was going on.
As much as I’m gonna love the drama coming up next week, I think the only real failure wasn’t the event itself but the very poor boycott made of seemingly random illuminati tweets and complete silence.
Again, I don’t read the forums but as a follower of the FGC I don’t feel I should do that in order to be updated on such big issues.
Okay, I understand all of this hate for TL and John Nelson but what I don’t understand is how a guy like him is able to keep slipping through the cracks.
Honestly why are people like FChamp and JWong supporting him? After Triple Threat and Revelations 2011, how is this still going on?
I reckon it’s cuz they both win tourneys sometimes
You would think people would have something called morals.
Filipino Champ and Justin are sheeps that fall everytime in this kind of shit, and Champ is a Moron… There you have it…
Damn… Well I guess I just lost a lot of respect for some top players in the FGC.
until something happens to the marvel/sf4 pot bonus’s, they won’t see a reason not to go. i can’t say i hold it against them, but it felt really counter intuitive that they were plugging an event that so many people forewarned, it sent one hell of a mixed message.
