Back in 2005 or something I took a day off of school because I was scared of my English teacher. I decided to walk around the city centre and there was this huge line to get into the music store (which also sold games and dvds and shit), so I figured I’d go in and see what was up.
Then I met John Cena and he shaked my hand and I was like, “OH MY GOD MY KNEES ARE SHAKING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”. I bought a copy of some cheap wrestling game on the Gamecube and he signed it for me and I pranced off all happy.
The thing is no one even cared about him back then (well at least not compared to his popularity now) and I didn’t even like wrestling much. It was cool to meet him though. Still not as good as the time I met the Wiggles when I was a kid though. That was the best day of my life.
same formula but don’t u dare insult one of the strongest men in all of america (hulk hogan). if cena were to go up against pre crisis hogan it would be all over before cena could take off his t-shirt, and u should know this. have u forgotten the power levels of the 80ies and early 90ies wrestlers?
Anyway, I’m talking about the mentality that kids had in the Hogan days and the mentality kids have now with Cena. It’s more or less the same, except these days, everyone knows that it’s fake compared to back then when nearly everyone thought it was real. You had the hero getting his ass kicked by the quote on quote “bad guys” for like 10-15 minutes, then somewhere in the match, they would “form into Voltron” (or in Hulk’s case, Hulk Up) and get a huge burst of momentum, hit their combo, and win the match. I just want to know why it was cool to be a fan of Hogan (because more of less everybody was) when you were a kid, but the kids today can’t cheer Cena because the adults don’t like him. Their Cena is your Hogan. Just let them have their fun. No need to ruin it.
