It isn’t a typo. If you examine the JLF base you’ll see that it has protruding mounting holes on two of its sides, if the model number has the Y at the end that only indicates the PCB has been pre-installed with the JST-NH 5-pin header perpendicular to these protruding mounting holes. The T obviously means it comes with a pre-attached JLF-P-1 flat mounting plate. The photos on Lizard Lick’s site clearly shows the sticks having the flat mounting plate, hence the T, but the 5-pin header isn’t perpendicular to the mounting holes, hence no Y.
Either way I suspect they’d still fit, even if you had to take the mounting plate off, but I don’t have any experience with the T5 stick, so you might want to make sure it doesn’t require the 5-pin connector to be on a particular side.
I gather that as long as the screw holes in the black plastic are the same, it won’t matter where the connector is since the Tekken 5 joystick box is so big.
Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T fits into the T5 stick? I’ve seen this question asked more than once but I’ve never been able to find a definitive answer.
The HRAP2 has a JLF-TP-8Y in it… would I be able to easily switch (unscrew/rescrew) a worn-out one with a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T?
I realize these questions might be a little silly… I just don’t wanna drop the money and order a couple and find the only screwing I do is myself (over).
it appears to me that the different JLF suffixes are mounting plate designs. if you are looking for a no-mod T5 install, then you don’t want a mounting plate… as you’d be using the T5’s mounting flange instead.
i’d bet the farm the two sticks (8Y & 8YT) are otherwise similar. what i guess you really want to know is if the metal plate can be easily removed.
Different vendors have different pricing. Ponyboy (trading outlet forums) actually has the best price on the the Sanwa JLF. Akihabara on the other hand, has the best price on Seimitsu parts. Part of the costs may also depend on what country you are ordering from and what type of shipping you prefer.
I know what you are saying about those Akihabara sales reps though. Some of their people are real great to deal with but some of their personnel can be wacky. :wgrin: :nunchuck:
Keep in mind it takes a bit of strength to get these screws off. Without the proper torque, you might end up having to drill one screw out like I did =P
Hello and apologies is this is an elementary question. I’m looking to upgrade the Mad Catz SFIV standard edition fighter stick with the Sanwa joystick and buttons. I see the JLF-TP-8T on lizrdlick but also have found the JLF-TP-8Y on the net. Does it matter which one I get for the Mad Catz stick? From the thread, I see the difference is in the mounting plate. I do know that in the tourey edition stick, it’s the JLF-TP-8YT if that makes any difference (the standard is supposedly plug and play, moddable exactly as the tourney). I’m still a little confused. So…should I get the JLF-TP-8T on lizrdlick or the JLF-TP-8Y I see elsewhere. I’m still not clear on the difference or if anything additional requried to upgrade the standard fighterstick to Sanwa parts. On a side note, I’ll also be going with the GT-Y octo gate and will purchase the OBSF-30 buttons as well. Sorry again for the ignoramus q’s (forgive the noob).
