JLF loose in neutral position

Okay so honestly I’m stuck without any idea of why my JLF stick seems to be loose. I know its not the spring because i just bought a new one just in case. I already greased it after cleaning it. The switches work fine they are not being press. I honestly don’t have any issues with performance but its just been bothering me that its just very loose. I do have a Kowal oversize actuator and 4lb spring.

It’s ok if your JLF is slightly loose at neutral, but too much looseness can point a worn out pivot cylinder. If the piece is properly greased then i assume the 4lb spring is giving that pivot too much pressure anyway and the grease can not protect it against such hard friction. Don’t worry if your situation is like the 1st one:

1- regular looseness = you have to push the stick to reach any micro passing by a very small dead zone
2- excessive wear looseness = the stick wobbles so much that it touches the micros with no effort at all

ps: this regards to stock condition of course.

Well thankfully it is on the 1st one, but maybe I’ll order a new pivot cylinder to see if that will fix the issue if not I’ll see what else i can do or just order a new one. I’m just curious is all and would like to figure this out  .

Just to be sure---- you do have past experience with JLF sticks right? Someone who’s played on stuff like Happ for years and is used to their hardass springs, might be surprised at how much looser a JLF spring is.

You have a legit JLF right? There are plenty of affordably priced bootleg parts out there that certainly look great but, don’t perform as well. Sellers aren’t always honest about their bootlegs either, or they are but, word their listings in an odd way thats causes confusion (Ex: Sanwa “Replacement”).

As long as the stick reliably returns to center each time, and never accidentally bumps a switch on the way back causing an accidental input, that’s what matters. Perhaps you could buy a stronger than stock spring? I’ve always been happy with whatever’s in my stock JLF, so i don’t know if they make harder springs.

If all else fails, you can just resort to the nuclear option and buy/install a new stick.

Yea honestly my first stick was the original xbox 360 TE stick and then i just bought a JLF from focus attack, im sure there stuff is legit. I’m currently using a 4lb spring, the heaviest ive seen so far. Just alot of people who try my stick ask me why is it so loose compared to theres and they just have Hori rap 4 and other sticks that are perfect feel.

Consider something other than a Sanwa JLF.
LS-40-01 is my preferred joystick, 2nd only to the now discontinued JLW.

SOLVED

I just want to say I have solved my issue. All i did was add another washer just before the spring base. So yea it back to its nice tight position. I hope this solves peoples problems or give them an idea because i sure couldn’t find one.

hi Dbz220
Just to be clear: you now have TWO washers, one on top of the other?
and THEN the spring base-spring-actuator-eclip
And that stopped the wobbling of the stick?
Oh…and you didn’t replace the pivot cylinder,right?
Cheers
