Jill fell out of a window. The Chris Redfield Teammates discussion thread

Recently started messing around with Chris (Combo Punch), Dante (Jam Session), Taskington (H. Shot). That team is a monster. Seriously

Been a while but I guess I’ll get back into it a bit more.

In regards to combo punch assist and alpha countering into it, it’s a very underutilized tool, although there are some aspects that can beat it:

  1. Small characters
  2. Spammable Low profiling moves like Wolverine Cr. L, Rocket Raccoon Cr. L, etc.

The most consistent way to deal with the low profiling moves, you have to AC early/on the first hit before. Its not exactly guaranteed, but its one of the ways I found to potentially deal with this.

The invincibility frames on the combo punch AC is a smaller window than people think, thus why #2 tends to work often.

I am considering AC combo punch against the likes of Magneto, Vergils on point permanently cause you’re constantly in blockstun against them.

Hopefully this helps people.

Sometimes I tag out Chris just so I can use the alpha counter against Vergil. It’s nice to have around just in case.

i found a worthwhile incoming mixup with vajra assist. the best timing is after a snapback at the very corner. after a snap back forward H + assist, wiff canceled into landmine. if done properly the landmine will be set offscreen just behind the opponent and vajra assist will either hit or force the opponent onto the ground allowing you to do pretty much anything until the landmine explodes. if vajra does hit you can just wait until the landmine explodes for the otg into combo of choice. and since you are right under vajra it is an ambiguous crossup.

here’s another incoming that isn’t as multilayered nor cover ariel escapes but still as ambiguous. with same setup scenerio as above set a landmine, foward H + assist, S… if done properly landmine covers the foward H + assist call which is an ambiguous crossup move and you can verify this by seeing which direction the S launches. if it hits it will launch into vajra into a hard knockdown still facing the corner regarless of whether you crossed up or not allowing you to followup with your combo of choice.

I’ve been running Chris/Haggar/Sent for a good while now, but recently I came up with the idea of running Arthur as anchor because Sent’s body is way too big, and I’m getting sick of getting instant overheads hit on me almost every time, lol. The only reason I kept Sent for so long was because of a touch of death combo I had with Chris and Sent, but Arthur I feel poses a bigger threat and also with his Dagger assist almost does the same kind of job that drones do. Opinions?

I’m looking to start a Chris team but unsure of who to partner him up with, I’m thinking of Strider last as his assist will help the Chris with characters in the air

for me i say either haggar or dante are a good second character to use, mainly cause you can get the flamethrower launch down launch magnum flamethrower extension, but there are other assists that can do that but haggar is the best gtfo assist cause of lariat and dante’s jam is a good spacing assist

Either way I highly recommend Strider last. You can do so much with vajra as a setup, keepaway, and extension assist.

Any tips/tricks/links to videos to learning the team synergy with Chris/Hagg/Strider?
I’ve finally gotten fed up with not having a proper anti air assist, and getting bopped by anyone with a flight mode and A to G attacks. missiles juat isn’t cutting it for Chris no matter how much I love my team.

So the next time I play you I gotta deal with vajra? Damn that assist is a pain. I feel you though, missiles just don’t cut it when trying to get those hard to reach places. Hit me up next time you are on.

Haha, I’ll atill keep my old team. No point throwing away all of the team synergy I made over the past few years.
Plus, I’ve never had to play a pixie class before so I’ve got a lot to adjust for.

Hey Retnuhh66 if you ever wish to play a Chris/Mike/Hiryu team add HylianTragedy

So Im a newb when it comes to Chris. I saw Darchon’s guide and was inspired to try and pick him up. I mainly play Hulk/Nemesis/Sentinel, so the transition from a RTSD style to a put stuff on the screen and chip away until you land a solid hit style is a rough transition, but I wanna make it work.

Right now Im trying to run Chris/Dante/Sentinel. I say try because not only am I a new Chris player, but a new Dante player. Doing Hulk combos then trying to do Dante combos? Yeah thats gonna be rough. :stuck_out_tongue: Anyways what do yall think of the Chris team Im trying to run? Do yall think its has the potential to be at least solid?

Imo opinion its a good team i mean you do get multiple extensions with chris with drones and with jam you can get a flame thrower extension. As a dante player i have to say i wish you luck on learning the character, but once you get bold cancel down especially with the teleport you can get some nasty mix ups with chris gun fire assist. drone could also help play a bit of a rush down chris. i mean chris does have a rush down style to it, but its more risk and reward, while his defence is just turn the screen into chip

I’m making a new team of cap (1st, CS), Chris (2nd, machine gun), RR (pendulum). Assist seem to work well for all three characters. Still working on my bnb’s. Any suggestions or opinions? Trying to break away from zero May cry

That’s the exact Chris team I started to run when i locked on to Chris as my main after dropping nemesis because he is nemesis. I say started because as much as i love the team and the drones assist in gerneral, you cant make an argument that it is a better team then Chris/Dante/Strider. I dont like Strider and I am really sad when it comes to his play…but what Vajra does for Chris and Dante is not equaled by drones. Though i will say that i have run Dr Strange and Hawk on the end of that team with their respective horiz assists and I do prefer them both as an anchor to Strider. I personally think Strange is the best Anchor on that team but your Dante must be tight and you have to be very VERY careful with your Bolts call or you are straight SOL. I am currently trying to lab FoF loops and confirms so that can be my main team for the next Major I want to try to make it to but as it stands now my Dante/Strange is a 2 and done at a tourney so it’s a work in progress at best…

Man, it’s been a while since I posted on here. Well, I’m back in the lab again. I seem to like Chris and Taskmaster together. I’ve been suggested to use Dr. Doom by PzPoy with Beam assist. Haven’t tried it yet but I’ll see how it goes. I’ve also been thinking about Strider as well. He’s a glass cannon but is extremely useful for me hunting down flying characters out of the air. How’s everyone doing anyway?

Getting bodied by school.

Ive never really messed with Chris. Could someone please tell me a bit more about him in general? I know that hes kinda a keep away character and he controls the ground relatively well with fire grenades, that hes got good damage output, etc. However, I dont know what his best position on a team is (im assuming point?) or what his matchups are like.

Is there anything good about him NOT being on point? I tested out his Gun Fire assist vs other projectile assists and it seems to nullify everything except Plasma / Uni Beam, and Hawkeyes Greyhound (it beats 2 arrows, but the third arrow goes above the bullets. The assists trade I believe). Surprisingly, it beat out mags disruptor in terms of durability and it also nullified Raccoons SpitFire Twice (which nullifies BOTH beam assists).

Anyway…yeah. I know Chris doesnt have the best DHC options in terms of safety…but aside from that, how are his matchups in general? More specifically, how does he do vs these characters:

Doom
Trish
Deadpool
Ammy
Mags

Lastly, to me he seems very linear…as in having very little mixup. Im assuming he gets his hits off of frame trap type stuff since he can confirm off of throws? Well, that and chip damage.

Edit: Im fairly sure its not that amazing for him, but can Chris use Weasel Shot for anything useful?

imo weasel shot + chris is a bad combo i mean if you are using dante running jam is a much better option because it can hit the part of the screen chris normally can’t.
Chris surprisingly has a decent amount of mix ups on incoming ranging from the standard dash forward and back to placing a mine and using his heavy combination punch, and it gets better when you have assists. even though chris is a zoning character you can rush down with him pretty well granted his play style has you baiting them to hit you first so you can punish with the explosion of a mine or grenade. normal mix ups however he is kinda lack luster. but rushing down shouldnt be your primary focus. chris has a wierd style of rushdown where you go for chip set up with grenades and force them to rush you donw where they can run into a mine or a grenade which leads into a free combo for chris

chris does have options as an assist character and it helps people who can do teleport mix ups and haggar but when he comes in he really cant do anything about the incoming mix ups. He really is a good battery though considering you can kill a lot of the cast with 1 or 2 meters max and his combos build that much if not more if you plan to reset.

the chris vs any zoner who can stay in the air is a hard one but you just have to fill the ground with fire to make their landing dangerous, that and having jam session here is a good idea.

against another ground based zoner like deadpool chris can easily beat deadpool if you play chris correctly. His prone shot ducks under deadpools guns, his guns either beat or trade with deadpool’s guns.

ammy is a bit annoying to her size but the machine gun can hit her fine and j shotgun works wonders here for a good chip set up. in all honesty i feel like chris can beat ammy easily

mags vs chris can go either way. i might be biased but im more on chris’s side in this fight. i mean sure enough disruptor beats the start up of your guns but it can be ducked under with prone. that and if you get your mines and grenades out mags is going to have to worry about rushing in and setting those mines off which leads to chris winning the trade.
