With Chris/Strange/Nova, I found a 1.23 million damage corner combo that only loses half a bar, but you need to start with one. I’m pretty sure I can get it to 1.25 million and make it a true Touch of Death. You can switch the order of Strange and Nova if you want as well. I have finals coming up so I don’t have much time to lab, but you can also get about 1 Million in the corner while building about a bar and a half. If you want Chris/Strange/Hawkeye, there’s a 950K corner combo. All use Bolts for Strange and the Nova assist was the overhead one. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll give you the notation. After the 12th, I can make a video for you if you’d like, when my finals are over.
Eheheh. I really appreciate it Denjin, but my team has already changed. It’s been pretty up in the air for a while now. Only recently have I settled on Chris, due in part to me always wanting to play him after seeing LLND’s inspiring Chris-play but never being able to put in the time to play him well. Good thing I happened upon a GCYoshi match to convince me [Chris] is definitely worth playing.
It’s pretty static at the moment (Chris/Spencer/Strange); I’ve already got the standard BnBs with Spencer slant-shot assist down to a fault. I’m just deadset on putting Strange in a team because I swore I’d make that clunky, spamtastic. damaging motherfucker work somehow. Luckily, it seems like Bolts may be one of the better beam assists for Chris?
Haha, it’s cool man. I enjoy making team combos. So are you rocking Chris/Spencer/Strange for sure? That team has some high damage potential as well, although the combo may involve a prone cancel, which can be tricky. I think Bolts is best for Chris, but I played Strange for a small amount time. Still, it’s definitely best for Spencer so I’d say use that. I’ll see what combos the team has outside of the Slant Shot BnBs. Be aware that it might be tough to DHC into Spencer at times though since none of his supers are safe. Basically when you’re getting rushed down heavily and Grenade Launcher can’t get the upshot out to make Bionic Maneuvers safe.
I spent almost all weekend finding some good point Chris teams since I never really tried point Chris since vanilla. I came up with some awesome results. I’m trying Chris (machine gun)/Dorm (dark hole)/Vajra for the time being. Chris and Strider is a good mix but I can get a great BnB with dark hole in the corner, just have to space it right with the otg shot in order to follow with flame thrower. Dark hole also helps keep ground strings pretty safe. Only thing is I kinda suck with Dorm and his BnB with vajra is a lot of work for just 800k, but I like playing it for now. I may have to resort to a cheaper team eventually down the line. Depends on how good I can get with Spencer…
Hah I’m just seeing this now since I never check every thread.
That was me you played! I enjoy land mine with almost all of my Chris teams now. It’s too fun not to use.
It is deceptive
Yeah man. It is deceptively good. It may be one of the most slept on assists in the game.
I cannot say enough good things about landmine assist. If you’re good about protecting Chris as he comes in (no more than you’d have to with say, drones) and you remember where you put it, people will just run into it all day. It’s wonderful for pressuring usually unpressurable characters and for combo extension. The only problem is that the assist hitstun nerf from vanilla to ultimate hit this assist pretty hard (no more double kikoshos for chun li) and can make confirming off of it slightly unpredictable under certain circumstances.
But unless you are really hurting for a beam or the lockdown boulder punch can provide, you should be running landmine.
How is Iron-man with Chris? I’ve never tried it in practice but I read a couple posts in a different thread of some people who use him 2nd. Repulsor in theory seems good with Chris for those hard to hit angles above and in front of you. Was thinking Chris/Tony/Sent wouldn’t be a bad team. I just drop Iron Man combos like bags of ice so i never play him = /
That sounds like an interesting team. I’d definitely give it a shot. Repulsor is a good defensive assist but I’ve never used it personally. Still, IM/Drones is a slick combo, at least what I’ve seen from Joker, and the DHC is strong so I don’t see why not.
So how do you guys go about not being free to teleports? Is Haggar the only way?
Up back
Mash throw
People normally teleport midgunshot.
Hey guys, I run Haggs(lariat), Chris(gun), Doom(missile).
Is there any good combo application for my assists? As is, I’m just using lariat to get an opening for my combos and missile…well, missiles and chris don’t seem to work that great at all.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
check the chris video thread. I made a couple videos that use chris and missiles. Vsdenjin also released a video that has some combos with chris and missiles. hope that helps.
I just realised that Chris Color 3 is supposed to be Cody. I suddenly got the idea of a Final Fight team, with Chris, Haggar, and Strider. I quickly learned that I cannot learn to play Haggar, but Strider has a chance to work out I suppose.
Thinking of actually using Chris (Gun shot) Doom (Missles) and Strider (Vajra). Should I switch any assists around or put Doom on point? I can’t get much out of missles besides chipping to death with Chris’s crazy magnum, and I don’t see any combo potential for it either.
Yes, there’s combo potential:

The Chris/Doom/Strider team is, I think, the best Chris team there is. You can tailor your Doom assist based on matchup and vajra will always be there to control space over which Chris has no domain.
I swear I just went ahead and watched this video! Looks like I gotta hit the lab again and figure out using that assist. Also gotta break the habit of not calling Doom then, that can get pretty hard after playing ranked for so long.
Thanks for the advice!
Well, as for combos, you can’t use Missiles and Vajra to get a high damage combo. You can use Plasma Beam and Vajra and do 1.15 million, but both Missiles and Vajra are enders for Chris’s combos, so you’ll have to use one or the other (Vajra is much easier) and that will net about 1 million damage. The team is strong though, except it lacks a damaging DHC. Still, Doom/Strider is great for any team.
For the moment I’m fiddling around with Tron(Gustaff Fire)/Chris(Gun Fire)/Sentinel(Drones) with Sentinel pending unless I can find a better replacement to help both Tron and Chris better. With my regular BNBs with Tron, a DHC from Lunchtime into the Grenade Super just as the servbots start trampling gets all the hits and allows me to get the Flamethrower to Sweep Combo follow up for some hefty damage.
I have yet to try it out in a real match, but I figured Tron’s Gustaff assist might not be too bad in helping Chris in a zoning battle. Basically what I was thinking was call Gustaff assist (which will nulify projectiles) and use flamethrower cancelled into whatever Gun Fire or Grenade fits the situation. Sentinel of course works wonders as a combo extender for both Tron and Chris on point, and if needed, Gustaff assist after Chris’s OTG lets him get Flamethrower to Sweep or launch.
Try combination punch for chris there is no point to gunfire if u have drones and plus u can extend tron combos with it
