I’m not saying Doom doesn’t have mix ups, it’s just tougher for him to start an offense because he has nothing to cover him, while Spencer’s zip almost acts as an assist allowing him to get in, and if the zip hits them while he rushing them down (if the opponent tries to escape) he gets a full combo. I’m not saying Doom isn’t a good anchor, don’t get me wrong he’s really solid, I just feel Spencer can rush down much more effectively, especially since you can push block one attack, so Doom would have to have amazing hit confirming skills to react and then the opponent would still be free to move after the push block where as Spencer can cancel his normals into overhead to stay close or catch the opponent with a zip line and get a combo or apply more pressure. On another note, I ran Strider anchor for a good two weeks. Best two weeks ever in terms of x-factor and a certain level three super.

Has anyone thought about running Chris (Gunfire) / Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer) / Doom (Hidden Missiles) yet? Chris is such a great battery, and backed up with Morrigan’s assist he can build up so much meter for Morrigan to go to two with. Or even replacing Doom with Strider and Vajra?

No ‘get off me assist’ for Chris but other than that, the team sounds solid. Morridoom is really nice on just about any team. Are you planning on playing the team or just making a suggestion? If you do play it, let me know how it goes.

I imagine Chris’ favorite assists would be the ones capable of covering his blind spot in the opposite corner at SJ height to keep him from becoming suddenly useless. Vajra, Jam Session and Hidden Missiles are of course the first ones that come to mind, but I’d like to know if anyone else knows of any others that can effectively do the same. Hopscotch, maybe?

Does chris really need a ‘get off me assist’? ive seen a lot of Chris/Hagger lately

I don’t think he needs it (Chris/Spencer/Sentinel is one of the better Chris teams and there’s no ‘get off me’ assist) but I think it definitely makes your life easier. This is purely from a ‘worst case scenario’ stance but you almost definitely need a defensive assist against the better characters in this game.

it really depends on matchup and\or chris’s placement in a team. the only time i think he absolutely needs it is if he was first and facing off against a character that can start the match in your face even if you were holding back. there just aren’t that many options for chris in that situation and the best one is a throw but that can be very predictable.

the other reason why haggar is so valuable for chris is not only for the gtfo but to help prevent resets. chris is one of the easiest characters to reset when in the air since he is a sitting duck when in the air especially at superjump height.

Chris and Trish have a meter intensive loop that does a ton of damage.

Chris needs to combo into a grounded Grenade Launcher and DHC to Trish’s Round Harvest. Hard tag Chris back in and flame thrower (stop) flame thrower again into first hit of heavy boulder punch into grenade launcher and repeat. He builds most of a bar each time so it goes on for awhile.

How much damage do you get off that if you spend say… three bars? Sounds like an interesting set up.

I am going for a Chip damage team.

I was thinking Chris Dorm Hawkeye.

a basic combo I do builds a meter, leads into sweep combo + Hawkeye’s poison tip. 7xx k damage and poison tip’s full poison, and if I have the meter I can DHC into Stalking Flare. otherwise I can end a combo with OTG + purification assist to give Chris time to throw a fire grenade or Dark Hole into flamethrower THEN sweep combo.

But I do want that chip damage. so I will use Triple arrows instead.

I’m thinking Chris trish hawkeye or Chris Dorm Hawkeye. either way. I want to be as annoying as possible and force chip damage.

Any suggestions for the anchor slot on a Chris/Spencer team? Really like running these two together with Chris on point. Like having hawkeye in the mix for the beam assist, also have success with deadpool, his assist options have just been limiting the team.

Deadpool would have to be on point? Chris otg pistol into quick as the wind, something and using that with Spencer’s overhead for an unblockable should be good.

I did something something similar to this with an experimental team of Chris (gunfire) Trish (peekaboo) Hawkeye (Poison Tip Violet Fizz)

crM H f+H S L M H xx QCF H (land) crM S M M H S (land) call hawkeye poison tip, crH(otg) xx Sweep Combo DHC Round Harvest. Chris’ hyper will last long enough for Poison tip to deal it’s full damage and Trish can set the opponent up in a crappy position.

From here Trish can combo at least 1 Hopscotch and toss out 1 or 2 more. or you can hard tag Chris to set up chip damage (I suggest back dashing once first) or Hawkeye can DHC Gimlet/Super Scatter Shot or Hawkeye can and set up for Chip damage by spamming Exploding Arrow.

I’ve been trying to figure out what anchor I’d want for my Chris (Gunshot) / Dante (Jam Session) team. Does Wesker or Hawkeye make any sence? (These are the characters I’m most familiar with) I’ve also been concidering running Strider with Vajra, but I’ve never really played him.

I run the Chris/Dante combo as well and I use Sentinel with Drones as anchor. This team I use definitely has it’s strengths but when up against stronger players and stronger teams, it severely struggles. In my honest opinion, Doom Missiles seems to be best for this team (starting to think it’s best for Chris in general but not so sure). It helps with teleports and characters who rely on being in the air like Zero, Magneto, Dormammu and even Doom himself. It also works extremely well with Dante for zoning and rush down as well as combo extension. The only flaw I could see this team having is that both assists have slow start up and lose against a team with say Plasma Beam assist. If Jam Session is sufficient enough for you to play with Chris than by all means use Wesker. His OTG helps with Dante combos and he’s a solid anchor. Same goes for Hawkeye except his assist really helps with Dante’s mix up game. I use Chris/Dante/Strider as a sort of mess around team but it definitely works well since it helps both Chris and Dante a lot in their respective play styles. Still, the lack of horizontal space control on that team always has me switching back to Drones in the end because I’m addicted to that assist, haha. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the input, I was kind of thinking about using the vertical arrows on hawkeye if i’d run a team with him. It has no real use for dante but it would help with the pesky upperleft / right corners when playing with Chris.

Also i think the Vajra assist could be awsome for both Chris and Dante as stated and with the added bonus of strider being a good anchor. But like you said, lacking a horisontal assist is anoying, maybe running Akuma as an anchor would work out for that aspect.

Hawkeye’s vertical arrows are nearly worthless in my experience. I’d suggest Taskmaster instead. You can even swap that assist for his horizontal version before a match if you feel that’s more appropriate.

Like i said, havent really tried it out. It doesnt seem very useful after further research, taskmaster arrows are pretty good though. The THC’s with task will be somewhat worse with the Uparrows though.

I’m just gonna go for Strider with Varja and swap it out for akuma if i feel i need the assist, atleast for now ^^.
