Jet Set Radio 1 releasing in September @ $9.99

so you cannot use another user’s data in this game.
i d/l the save data from gamefaqs and overwrote my own only to find out that the game doesn’t support that…and wiped it out. so now i have to start from square one, lol. i was almost done with the game and had almost every graffiti soul. welp.
lesson learned.

i kinda just want to import my save data over from my dc (since its 100%ed). i hardly have time to do anything anymore. oh well.

Importing that data wont work either.

since people are having trouble getting Jet ranks ill help out…you can use any character but certain characters have advantages to make it easier

first jet techniques…dont waste time tagging anything just go for grind infinites
jet graffiti…characters with high graffiti like yoyo, gum, and pirahana are preferred…I use Mew because she has decent stats in technique and graffiti…what ill do is tag every sign including green arrows and on the last red arrow do grind infinites then when time is almost up ill hit the last arrow…
jet races…each one has a short cut…Kogane-cho is what im still working but I think at the end jumping those roofs hurts my time…I need to grind those telephones lines to the arrow…

jeez i dont remember the jet tagging level in grind square being so difficult to get. finally managed to get it after about my 15th attempt. ended up using Goji in the end since you save a lot of time hunting down spray cans like you do with the other characters with high tagging skill. then again i didnt do any grind infinites or whatever on that level so maybe i should have just done that.

also does the “technique” stat actually do anything? on the help screens it tells you that technique is tied into how good the skater is at tricks and stuff but you score the same amount of points regardless of character. unless maybe they grind slightly faster or something.

lastly, in the end credits you see that the AI starts doing 180 tricks off of rails and landing backwards. skip to 2.50 onwards.

is this even possible in the game? i know you hit down-up and jump to do a basic 180, but ive never ever been able to do it off a rail and land backwards. i pretty much never go backwards in this game because since you go so slowly and its kind of awkward as well.

you get more points for grinding and tricks (notice the x3 bonus or multiple tricks) and build up to 100 faster with characters with high techniques…

the cpu is broken…I still can’t twist in the air consitently but I dont really need to…lol

While grinding hold back then forward and jump (back then immediately forward+jump), it’s hard to time but you can grind backwards. I recently discovered it does give you more points as long as you keep grinding and switching from forward to backward grind. You can get up to 6X multiplier.

You can also do a 180 jump while grinding on walls (easier than on rails imo), and you can do a 180 super jump if you skate at full speed. Easy way to add points on top of everything else you’re doing to finish a level with a Jet rank.

holy shit colour me surprised. im gonna try this out later today. ill try with the holding method you suggested since i always just went with presses like a normal 180. i always just thought it was the CPU cheating and breaking game rules like they often do.

edit : so after trying this about 100 times and only getting a 180 trick ONCE i am pissed off. i tried the holding back-forwards jump method and couldnt get it to work at all. this is so unneccesarily difficult to pull off its not even funny. does anyone have any tips on how to do it? do you have to press up and jump on the same frame? how about one slightly before the other? its fucking driving me mad.

this is even harder to do than akiras fucking knee move in VF2 for christ sake!

i dont believe ive heard this song yet in the HD re release…

i definately remember this song from the original, although i cant remember if it was from jet set or jet grind since i played both of them when they came out.

also the JET GRIND RADIOOOO at the start sounds mega shit.

Vita version delayed. Welp.

Sucks to hear for the Vita cats, it seems Sega has been plagued by delays ever since they announced the restructuring of the company. It looks great running on the Vita in previews so hopefully it doesn’t take too long. The gameplay is perfect for a handheld console, short but entertaining levels.

I don’t remember that song at all TBH, is it an EU exclusive?

this thread got bumped so I assumed that sega was going to release JSRF in HD next year…

where or how do you get the contest graffiti…? i thought it was going to be included from the start.
i’ve looked everywhere and can’t find an answer.

 • Obtain all Graffiti Souls (note: some graffiti will be unlocked after obtaining that specific character)
 • Earn “JET” rankings on every stage (including “Jet Crush”, “Jet Graffiti”, and “Jet Technique” stages)
 • Unlock all characters (including Poison Jam, Love Shockers, Noise Tanks, Goji and Pots)

It should appear afterwards.

thats bullshit. all that for the contest graffiti…?
again, i wish i could just load my old save from my dc. i’m not 18 anymore. i don’t have 32342343432 hours to spend trying to get jet on the grind square stage.

Well, try collecting Graffiti Souls first and then check into the “GRAFFITI” section every once in awhile.
And I have to agree, these should’ve been available from the start. Oh well…

yeah…i have a couple of souls i’m missing. just got jet on grind square after complaining about it, lol.

my thing with the souls is that for some reason, every time i try to get the soul at the top of the signs in bantam st, the game slows down. it makes it hard to get the timing…

anybody else have that issue?

^
Likewise. The lag increases whenever there’s a lot of data is on screen (notably in Bantam).

bantam st froze my game just now…
anyway, i answered my own question.

love shockers: get jet on every shibuya cho stage
poison jam: get jet on every kogane cho stage
noise tanks: get jet on every benton cho stage
goji: get jet on every grind city stage
potts: get all of the other characters, then a member of the noise tanks randomly challenges you (doesn’t have to be after you start the game over and beat the stages in a certain order. found that out today. possibly different for this release)
bonus graffiti: the graffiti labeled B is received once you unlock potts.
contest graffiti: randomly scattered along with the rest of the graffiti souls.

i was actually surprised that i got the potts challenge when i did. it could be that its my second playthrough but i was expecting to have to play through it a third time to beat that specific stage in the correct order to get the challenge…but i did not. its possible that i already did earlier in the second playthrough and that counted and thats why i got the potts challenge right after i jetted the last stage and right before fighting goji.

and the graffiti once you get potts is weak. oh well.

Bump. Sony finally decided to release this game for PSVita. I never bothered to learn 180 grinds back in the Dreamcast days, but after a few days of practice I think I figured it out. The key is to hold forward at the end, instead of tapping (which contradicts all the other commands in the game). That also helps you stay on the rail during the jump. It’s still tricky but I can do 180s consistently now. Time to try a trophy run in this game.
