I think it just comes down to playing the game alot.
I mean inputs in 3rd strike aren’t that hard, so if you’ve fought hundreds of dudley’s and have picked up working strategies, it’s probably not too much to pick him up and be decent with them.
Several Japanese players have actually counter picked at EVO in ST. Notably Daigo (between Ryu and Boxer) and I recall hearing that even Gian(Or maybe some other Dhalsim) actually swtiched to Blanka(?!?) to counter Vega(D:)
But either way it’s important to dabble in as many characters as you can to better understand the game and the japanese realize this. They just seldom build these characters up that far, as theres little point in the japanese tournament structure.
You’ve already lost the argument by bringing up this point which has nothing to do with the discussion. Also it’s irrelevant if you have experience or not, this is about whether they really do use only one character and whether they suck with the ones they don’t use. This can be seen from experience or video watching.
you can actually focus on YOUR game of choice, unlike the usa, because we just dont have the scene. For example, I play Arcana Heart fairly seriously, but beacuse I’m in america, im not going to be able to find comp for this game all the time acuse it isnt THAT popular. In Japan? Not really a problem. Same thing goes for Melty/(insert random game here that has a small western presence)
because of the reason i stated above, since theres actually a scene to play in, and theres lots of dedicated players, the comp can generally be so fierce in yoru game of choice that you have to devote all your time to 1 fighter. To give you another example, I’m definetely a multi-game player, and I was planning to play capcom/snk/tekken in japan a bunch, but seeing as i mainly went there last year for arcana, and the comp is so good, the only way i was going to be able to keep up was if i devoted all my time an denergy to that one game.
That would also explain the resson why Japanese stick to 1 game/1 character (can sometimes be character love, also due to the fact that they have single elim tourneys where you have to stick with the same char all the way through. Also, comp is so beast in the major cities that it’s really hard to experiment without getting owned up/losing a shitton of money in the process.)
What this guy said and what Sabin said. And yes, single game single elim tournies will do that to you. And yeah, they have huge scenes for each game, so you usually have to stick with one char most of the time for tourney time.
Oh, and Tokido doesn’t learn braindead chars for the most part. He just plays whomever is top tier. I like his philosophy.
What the hell? Why do you even post?
No one likes you 'cause your just a damn loser. There was no actual points, not to mention what you stated was just complete BS. Whatever, you like to think your right when we all know you don’t know shit.
And no, its not “irrelevant” if you have experience or not. Watching vids and to actually play them are 2 diferent things. If you believe otherwise then your a fuckin’ idiot.
Forget it, I’ll just do what everyone else has to do.
First time I have to put someone on my ignore list on… well… anything.
EDIT:
*This message is hidden because Emil is on your ignore list. *
Oh, this is interesting.
I guess I can just assume that when I see a post from Emil I know for a fact that it will be completely retarded rather than seeing a small wall of text.
This works.
hayao plays kira in arcana, or at least used to at one point
the ruu who plays 3s is a different guy from the gg/mb ruu (one uses katakana, the other has hiragana)
overall though, i am sure most elite players can use multiple characters well. even the better american players do. one of the most effective ways to figure out a difficult matchup is to learn that character yourself. i know someone who put hours into practicing every single character in accent core for this reason.
I only spent time with Tokido while playing Samurai Showdown Tenka, but he played several of the best characters, and two of his choices are anything but braindead. (Mina and Sogetsu are not as easy to play as Kazuki and Amakusa)
I’m kinda like that. If I’m playing a game I play the character I know best 95% of the time. I usually only fuck around with other characters once in a while, usually when the other guy is picking other characters also and I don’t have to wait if I lose. Otherwise, even in casuals I like to stick with the guy I know best and I want other players to do the same for me.
