Japanese 3rd Strike Players Index

Ah, my mistake. Didn’t realize it was Tetsugoshi

There is a Japanese Dudley that uses the white and black costume. Saw a vid of him about 6 months ago playing in a ranbat or tourney. Very unique style. I’m trying to find his vid but can’t remember his name.

rori / loli ?

Yes that’s him, thanks.

ummm nice thread but one question is this in order ? because i dont think roshi is third last with yang :S

It’s not in any order that I can think of. If it was, then Deshiken is waaaaay too low on the list. :stuck_out_tongue:

From the front page chief:

Hope that helps

This is outta the blue but related. I was wondering if there is a sort of classification of skill in Japan that’s determined by the cities or arcades where players play. I know that for tournies, they have to quailfy by the area, right?!?! When it comes to casuals, though, players travel.

Are the Tokyo players generally considered the best, or the players who participate in the gamespot tournies/gamersvision ranbats? Does Tokyo simply have the most competition?

Right, I’m trying to put the Japanese Player List into a Google spreadsheet, which I’ve done, but I also want to create a list which goes a lot further and will be useful for a future project. But before I go too far with it where any changes produce a ball ache amount of work later on, I’ll throw it open to critique and suggestions on how it should be structured.

It’s the spreadhseet entitled Players 2 found in this link: http://tinyurl.com/yzbql4c

Players 1 is a carbon copy of the one on the front page.

As you can see I’ve had a stab at a first draft, read the cell comments and see what you think.

I was thinking of just grouping characters either by the number of characters in their name 1, 2, 3 etc. and then listing the characters used or listing the Alex players in order, then Chun Li etc.

Either way, tell me what you think before I go too far with it.

I don’t think there are many ways of classifying skill level in Japan, besides Danisen and personal opinions based on tourney showings/match vids. Tokyo players are generally considered to be the best, though there are also many others that may be on the same level as them.

In my opinion however, it feels like the closer the players are to Tokyo, the better they seem to be. Nagoya, Osaka, Kanagawa and other areas nearby seem to be better than Hokkaido, Kyushu, Okinawa, etc. There are some obvious exceptions, for example Deshiken who is considered the best Ken in Japan, but he’s willing to travel to Tokyo for their tournaments and such.

Ahhhhh, I see. Where does Deshi live? Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking about how beastly Ibuki12 was recently, but he’s in Okinawa. I’m not very familiar with the players’ home towns and how far they are able to travel to participate in the biggest tournaments. There’s always the possibility of someone moving, too.

Deshiken lives in Fukuoka. He’s qualified for SBO I think twice in this area, and I’ve played him at Tenjin GIGO back when it was still open. He is a fucking monster…I played him probably 20 games worth and couldn’t get one match in.

Thank you for this list and for your Youtube channel, TheShend! I’ve been playing 3s for about a year and both of these tools helped me a lot.

Well, I’m on to it. I’ll still post up new names here but I’ll be adding them into the following places, so it’s up to you where you mine the names from
