Just wonderin, howcome Tokyo area only gets 5 teams, while Chubu gets 10??

I thought Tokyo has the most competition and players…

correct me if I am wrong…

I think Tokyo area only includes the city of Tokyo since Tokyo is part of Kanto area but Kanto area has its own section for qualifiers. Plus Tokyo is the only city listed that has multiple qualifiers for SBO.

Meanwhile, Chubu area seems to be the region between Osaka and Tokyo which is probably why it needs so many qualifiers.

One thing that I found interesting was that Fujiwara qualified from Hokkaido area?? I thought he lived near Tokyo.

Yeah I thought it was pretty nuts that Fujiwara was competing from Hokkaido. That’s the NA equivalent to Winnipeg, LOL.

Has anybody seen Georgia play? Is his Ryu all that? What super does he use?

DBA, on the front page, the numbers next to the characters’ names don’t show up unless you switch to Japanese encoding. Seems like you mighta been in Nihongo mode while typing them. Also, could you write all the pending tourneys for each area so we can see how many are left in each area?

Ok I think its fixed. Thanks for the heads up. I also updated to show the dates for the remaining tournaments in each area.

Someone asked about Georgia’s Ryu. Is it all that? I would say yeah. He’s easily the most consistant Ryu player in Japan that I can think of. I can’t recall a major tournament he hasn’t qualified for in the past. He’s just got a real solid Ryu and plays smart. Likes to throw those EX fireballs. In the Kyushu Taikai that is available for download on DC, Georgia takes 1st in the 87 man singles tournament.

OK, a couple Q’s:

  1. Does anybody know what’s up with Daigo, if he’ll enter, what team he’ll be on, etc.?

  2. Is the H.H. who’s on Sekido and OJI’s team the same H.H. who has a really good Dizzy in GGXX?

BTW, right now my money’s on Izu’s team or KO’s team (provided it remains the same when they qualify), maybe RX/Dirty Music’s too. It’s a pretty wide open field tho, mad potential for upsets.

Daigo had been losing in the qualifiers recently. Hopefully he’ll make it in the next couple weeks.

PS. He said he will win SBO this year from the arcadia magazine interview. don’t know what game he’s talking about though.

I dont see why is it so hard for Umehara to qualify after his performance at Evo in the finals. I mean he was tearing KO a new ass. I think he would have won that if he hadn’t been sent to losers.

Whats tight is how his level kept going up round after round when he could have actually saved some of those tricks for later rounds.

SBO main event is meant to have 32 qualified teams, right? I just calculated that Japanese gets 30 teams, USA gets 1 spot, who gets the other one?

Your best bet to find the messatsu yarou urien matches are in the Go For Broke hub on Direct Connect. Do a search for matches beginning with “tkb” and it should turn up some results.

For information on how to use direct connect check out the main forum titled “Vids on Go For Broke” or something like that…
