I kinda did that, especially when I said the exact hotel I was in. The power of google would have given an idea where I was. But I’m definitely coming back. I had too much fun in the country. Btw DA! Bar in Nagoya is very nice.
Just an idea/work in progress… I just found this site http://www.ge-sen.com/ and it has an ass load of info for arcades.
Just use google translate and all is good. they have most of the arcades on google maps (I checked out Shibuya Kaikan and it was all good!) so just copy and paste the japanese address into google maps and it should be there.
If anyone has some ideas on how to integrate this with this thread/FB/Google+, please let me know so we can make the best of it.
For all those who liked the FB page and what not… I understand that here is some privacy that will be released and for those who hide behind their alter ego… such as myself… this may be a no-go for you. But I will try to find ways to protect privacy so nothing gets linked to us…
I am a bit of a hypocrit with me “protecting” my “real” identity, but I have loosed up and even changed my avatar to my clubbing pics… yar…

-Where you want to go
I’m mainly looking to see where most people go to play competitive AE and to find info or a website that mention events/tournaments that will be taking place in the various arcades.
Also, if you have any advice on deals for purchasing a Japanese XBox360 that would be very helpful. Thanks.
Oh by the way,
for anyone who would like to play at any of the major arcades here in Tokyo, here’s a good reference site to use.
http://www.mmcafe.com/arcadeguide/arcades_shinjuku.html
Also, of course if you’re looking for tournies in Tokyo, add FinalRB.
If you want to buy a Japanese Xbox360, I highly suggest you go to Bic camera or Yamada Denki since they always have specials on 360s and also fightsticks.
www.biccamera.com
I haven’t done any major streams lately, but I’ve been up against YHC Mochi, Mago and a few other solid players and have recorded them on my stream page.
Also., if you’re in the Tokyo area and want some really good ramen, give me a shout.
Forgot to mention:
For those who enjoy the VF series, I highly recommend you visit Ooyama since many of Japans best VF players go there.
http://www.game-newton.co.jp/ - Located in Ooyama (Tobu Tojo line Saitama) - Tougeki qualifiers are hosted here
VF spots:
http://www.jp-l.co.jp/lasvegas/ - Las Vegas is home to some of Japans best
thanks for all the info! good to know there’s people out there willing to help.
I’ll be going to Tokyo for a few days in Feb. I’ve read that taito south shinjuku is the place to go for SSF4 ae, are there any other major spots worth going to?
Ikebukuro gots some good spots all right next to each other. Look on mma cafe at Ikebukuro and you will see it. It is the one by sunshine city.

Ikebukuro is a great spot for up and coming players. The competition is strong, and you get 2 plays for 100¥.
Shinjuku has become the number one spot to play top players like mago, Daigo, etc. However, it feels a bit cramped in this location compared to that of Ikebukuro.
Ikebukuro used to be the hub for all of the top players, since there are a handful of great spots in the area (Taito, Las vegas, etc). It’s slowly becoming the place to go to again. I work in Ikebukuro and Mon-Fri there is always new competition, so leveling up your game should be good. Furthermore, Ikebukuro is famous for ramen so after a hard day at the arcade there are PLENTY of popular joints around.

Despite having a strong scene also, Akiba (Akihabara) doesn’t seem to get noticed much. But there’s a new spot just outside of Akiba station called Taito Hey! that has a lot of good solid competition if you’re ever in that area.
In Saitama, a new Taito Station opened just last year in Wako (Wakoshi) and isn’t as popular as the others mentioend. However, this spot is HUGE and has a lot of cabs for not only AE but VFFS, ST, BB, DBZ, etc. Its a nice spot if you’re just starting up and want to fight some amateurs, get easy BP.
My 3 biggest recommendations if you really want the best out of the arcades are:
Much appreciated, that’s exactly what I’m going for, to practice for the Indonesian fighting championships.
If anybody wants to grab a bite to eat, I’ll be there from Feb 16th - 21st.
Is there a hostel/capsule hotel near Shinjuku that anybody can recommend? Also how much should I be budgeting for long practice sessions at the arcades?
Here’s a question. Is there a resource online that I can check for tournament and other fighting game event schedules and venues? Someplace where I can go hang out and meet people who like fighting games, who hopefully know English because my Japanese is not very good yet. I’ve been trying to attend FRB for months but something always gets in the way. Last month FRB was in the only weekend that I had to work, and I just found out that the same is true for Feb FRB. I was wondering if there are any other similar events that I could try going to instead.
Been playing a lot of ssf4ae. Send invites if you ever see me on!
I was in Shinjuku yesterday and from what I saw (and was told) the Taito Station there does not have AE anymore. However, the Shinjuku Sportsland, which is just around the corner, has 10 AE cabinets. Plus, there were alot of players there at a high level as well.
Just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents
Wrong Taito Station. There are 2. The one near sportsland is the wrong one. The one near the south east exit is the correct one.
That is good to know! I went to the one next to sports land too and was like WTF!?!?!

Oh, i see, my mistake then.
I’ll be at the Akihabara Taito Hey! tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 16th) if anyone wants to come out for some games. I lost my previous battle card, so I’ll be starting a new one as well.

Edit: Hey! was very fun. It had lots of healthy competition like always. On a side note: does anyone know how to register the sf4 IC cards? I know you have to do it through a japanese mobile phone. I can get to the site, but I still can’t read the kanji or katakana in there. I was hoping there was an english guide floating somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Man… went to 3 arcades in Ueno and I only found 1 SSFIVAE2012 cabinet…
I am really going to the wrong places…
Today’s my last day in Tokyo if anybody wants to meet up for some matcies. Also of anybody knows where to buy a good arcade stick, lmk.
