Hey. I’ll be staying in the Tokyo area for about a week in late May, not sure exactly where yet. It’s my first time going. In addition to the usual touristy stuff, I’d like to get some KOF13, Alpha 2/3, and ST games in if possible. What are the current good spots for those? I would have checked out the MMCafe and VersusCity links on the first post but those are broken. Anyone know if the arcade update for KOF13 going to be out by then?
I’m sure it’s a long shot, but is there any mvc2 action anywhere near Tokyo? I read a while back that an arcade called Alpha Station or something like that was the spot but I have no idea where that is. I’m not expecting much from this, but would love to be pleasantly surprised.
Also would love to get an opinion on some good spots to drink, any good lounges/clubs/etc, generally any nice places to hang out. I’m down to travel if needed, so going outside of the Tokyo area can happen. I’d actually like to see as much of Japan as possible during my stay and I’m not on a tight budget.
I made the move to Japan in the last couple weeks. I’m out in the country a ways but I hope to get to Tokyo on the weekends for some fight gamin’ once the paychecks start coming in. In the meantime, I’m looking for a low-lag HDTV/monitor in Japan. I asked in the tech-talk thread but it seems more likely that I could get an answer here. What’s a good model for <1f lag?
I was looking at a TH-P42ST3 in the store today thinking it might be the same as the TC-P42ST30, but I don’t really want to take the risk…
IparryU: Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. Good thing is that I’m not traveling alone and I’ve seen and heard of similar scams in other parts of the world. My friend and I have a mutual acquaintance that promised to take us drinking in Roppongi so I’ll keep my eyes open for sure while I’m there. I always try to have my guard up when I travel to strange places. Roppongi sounds like fun either way so I’ll definitely be there during my stay.

I’m traveling across the “middle” main Island, and was in Okinawa aswell (Naha has a great Arcade).
Now for the next Week I will be staying in Toyama(12.th till 15th April) with my Wifes Family and do you have any tips for that Area? I couldn’t find any Arcade at all with Beat’em Ups, sadly. I am really looking for SFxT but got only 30mins in a Store to tryout. Anyone here wants to participate in: “Spend the Afternoon with a Doitsujin beating him in SFxT”?
I’m fine, booked most stays. Only the last stop before flying is undecided. I will be heading to Tokyo around 16.th April for 3 nights until we fly. 3 people district Ueno. Hotels are around 14,000Yen for us all so if you have any tip please let me know.
I plan to get skull girls. I’m in the hospital until Friday but I’ll pick it up this weekend probably will play it most of the day on saturday. I’m also a bit worried that there won’t be much Japanese comp but the game is cheap and I dont mind supporting them. So if anyone wants to play me in SG I’ll be down for some matches on Saturday afternoon and evening after I learn some stuff in training mode.
Well hopefully I am able to play it from my Japanese account even though it seems it has to be purchased from US psn account. If I end up having to use my US account to play it, my US account is Elven_Shadow. I’ll try on Saturday.

I have had this conversation many times… nothing personal but getting a job right now is a major issue for many people.
If you can tome everything out and visa i set to go you have a higher chance. I have many friends that are here and want any job, friends that have come here looking for work, and 3 friends that are coming here to try to get a job and i tell them the same thing.
it aint that easy as it used to be but if you have the motivatikn, time, and money, it is possible.
Yo whatsup guys my name is Dan, I’m 20 and going to be a Junior studying abroad in Tokyo this fall starting mid august.
My dorm placement will be located in either Ota Ward or JiyuGaoka. I started Japanese this school year and I’m excited to keep up with it in Japan.
I’m basically studying abroad/ learning Japanese to play 3rd Strike lol. I play Makoto and Ken here in Doylestown PA.
Aside from 3s I’d like to play some ST and KOF 13 while I’m there. But for the most part I’ll be at Mikado or Game Versus trying to play/watch as much 3s as I can.
